Don’t even bother going to this place. I had to do a car inspection for my auto insurance company so I arrived at 9:44am. I walked into the bay to talk to someone in the office and before I even said one word a mechanic yelled «I can’t do it! I can’t do inspection, I have to go somewhere!» He didn’t say sorry let alone hello or goodbye. This place is rude and unprofessional and doesn’t deserve your time or hard earned money.
Instead take your car to 640 Hicks St. I called and the man told me to come in, he was ready when I arrived and was even funny.

This is my go to mechanic. They have always been there for me and get the job done as quickly as possible and a reasonable price. They are close by my apartment and I’ve been going to them for over 5 years.

I just got a used car, and my insurance company directed me here for a private inspection of some kind. I pull up and explain this to the clerk. He puts a form down on the counter, and walks away. I waited for a bit, then went to find him, to ask for a pen. I fill the form out some, give it back, and he actually yells at me for missing a part, as if I’d been given any sense whatsoever of what I was supposed to do. He comes out, takes some pictures of the car, then tells me I passed the inspection.
Now, I’m not his customer in this situation — the insurance company is. But this is the kind of people they have down here. They don’t give a crap about you, or their customer, or the car.

my car began making crazy noises on 278, pulled off onto atlantic and it was the 1^st place I spotted. My car is a foreign car, i have out of state plates, so needless to say I wasnt expecting it to be cheap. luckily it ended up being a pretty simple repair and my bill was very reasonable. They even replaced my headlight bulb at no labor cost after noticing it was out and calling to ask if i wanted it fixed. Will def return if needing auto repair.

I cannot believe I am the second person they tried the brake scam on! I have a regular mechanic: Superior Auto, but laziness prevented me from getting my inspection done in time so went in for a quick inspection as 811 was closer to my apt.
They called and said they would not pass my car for inspection because my brakes were below standard. I called superior who had just done a tune up and they said they were fine and that legally the guy was obligated to pass my car if the brakes were not into the rotors. I called them back, told the mechanic at 811 and he said, oh ok. Total scam artists! If you have no other choice use at your own risk.

I would give this place negative starts if I could. this place is a total rip off joint. I took my car in for state inspection and like for the other reviewer on here, they told me my brakes were shot and that I wouldn’t pass inspection. The only problem is that I had just had my car serviced at the dealership so I knew perfectly well that my brakes weren’t shot. I took the car back to my regular mechanic at the dealership and he confirmed the brakes were fine (he showed me) and I passed the inspection no problem.

I was referred by my auto insurance company to a different place up the street for a NY State inspection, but when I got there they said their inspection guy was not in yet. They sent me across the street to 811 Atlantic and it could not have worked out better.
I walked in and needed the NY inspection and a new battery for sure. They asked if I could leave the car which I gladly did. I could have come back in a couple hours, but I came back later in the day to make it easier on myself. They were amenable to any and all of my requests.
After about an hour and a half I got a call that all of my brake rotors were rusted. I knew this was true and not another fix-​it place trying to up-​sell me because they obviously rusted from all the snow and salt on the street this winter while my car just moved from one side of the street to the other, once a week, all winter. I also had noticed the brakes were sounding awful on the way over.
All said and done, I arrived back at 4 and the car was ready to go. He gave me a verbal estimate over the phone, which I approved and the price was the same on-​site. Sam was totally friendly, explained the other things they did and the costs were itemized on the bill. The NY inspection was $ 37. I highly recommend 811 Atlantic for their prompt and courteous service.
