Fine service, friendly enough bartenders, and cheap cheap cheap(for the neighborhood) drinks. Great, low-pressure place to hang out and catch up with friends or relax. FYI I’ve never had the food, so this review is for drinks and atmosphere/service only.

Ordered chicken tenders and most had huge bones in them. Was disgusted and threw them away!

Really like Abilene. My wife and I have lived in Carroll Gardens for 2 years and there are a lot of great places to eat but this as our staple. Abilene is a great spot when you just want a solid meal without all the fancy fixings. Burgers, chicken sandwiches, apps and sides are all delicious. They may be «simple» to a hipster or foodie but if you are looking for a good beer and an all American meal, this is the place to go. They also have great dipping sauces, if you are into that. Onion rings sauce.

I’ve been to this bar several times and I’ve definitely enjoyed myself. The bartenders I’ve dealt with are cool, and I’ve been lucky enough to be there a couple of times when the hot Indian woman is tending bar.

Not sure why this is getting less than four stars. It’s affordable, has good food, nice service and great atmosphere(especially when the weather is nice and the windows are open and there’s outdoor seating.

Went twice in a row for Saturday Night out with friends then Brunch next day. My friends and I ordered the Nachos to share and it was huge and enough for 3 people. The resto is pretty chill, laid back and unpretentious. During brunch, we all had a pint of mimosa for $ 8 and their selection of brunch dishes are well priced and well portioned. We seated outside and it was great to just chill with friends and people watch on a sunday. We will be back again!!!

Pretty awesome neighborhood dive bar. Just the right atmosphere and the drinks were good, too. We didn’t try the food, as we were just killing time waiting for the rest of our party to show up so we could go to dinner. If i lived nearby, this would likely become my hangout.

Dive bar. I love this place. I come here with my dog on Sunday’s or holidays and have always had great service. Drinks are good. Food is just OK. But love being outside and just chillin’ with my dog. I can see why people are saying some waitstaff is rude. They are prob right. I just have never had to deal with it. Every time I come it’s been a good time.

The brunch is decently priced, the drinks tasty and the food pretty decent. However the service? The service is the reason I may not come back. We asked for bacon with our meal and never received it. Not to mention we were still charged for it. Our server was possibly busy with other patrons but she only checked on us once and that was when we wanted the bill.

Excellent Bloody Mary’s! The red headed bartender, however, is one of the most miserable bartenders I’ve ever had. My boyfriend and I love the bloodys here, and decided to sit at the bar– not a smile, thank you, or pleasantry of any kind from her. After we ordered their delicious fried okra, she never checked back to see how we were doing. She was such a kill joy, we had our 2 bloodys each and left. Too beautiful of a day to be inside with misery– and this isn’t the first time we’ve had to deal with her… everyone has a bad day, but seriously, everytime she’s here?!

I had previously stated that I agreed with someone about the staff being unfriendly. I have since changed my mind. Maybe I was here during a few bad shifts, but Anna is usually here these days when I come around, and she is AWESOME! I really like her, and she is so sweet & accommodating! The food is so good too, and we seem to hit it off! I’m sorry for the past good/bad review! This is my go-to spot in Carroll Gardens! Shout out to the food and to Anna!

Pretty awesome for a neighborhood bar. I live a couple blocks away and find myself there on a weekly basis. BLOODYMARY is awesome and one of the best in the city. Go here just for that. Beers run $ 3-$ 7, and there’s always something drinkable on tap. I’ve gotten Genny and I’ve gotten Sox Point. It ranges, but it’s all wonderful. Cocktails are very reasonable and super well done. Food is decent-good, mainly hit or miss. Loved the fried pickles and okra, bleu burger was solid, nachos… disappointing. If you need a chill place to hang out at night or after work, this is the place to go!

This place is great. The staff is great. The clientele sucks. It’s became a nursery. No matter what time of the day or night it is there are kids. Sorry but after 8pm get a babysitter, folks. I’m and adult and want to go to an adult establishment at night. I should not be told to watch my language at a bar.

The worst bartender of all of Brooklyn works here. Rude, dumb, ignorant and couldn’t count to save her life. No idea Her name but she has a large tattoo on her right arm, wears glasses and has black hair. I was there Sunday afternoon at 4pm until 5. Flat out ignored me as she struggled to count her credit card receipts as people at an empty bar waited patiently. I waited 10 minutes, used the nasty gross bathroom then returned to the bar hoping for a drinks… I ended up waiting another 10. She flat out looked at me and ignored my me and my girlfriend. Eventually she prentenEd to notice me. She had the balls to call me sir. I’m probably the same age as this dumbass. Not sure what was up her ass but I won’t be back.

The place looks cute and the bartender was friendly… but the drinks were pretty terrible. The margarita tasted like salt water mixed with bad lime juice and the old fashioned tasted like watered down whisky. We will not be returning.

No skim milk. Great hangover help. Typical Carroll Gardens mix of yuppie parents and hipsters. Great board game options and indoor/outdoor seating.

I’ve been living in this area for two years now and this has become our go-to neighborhood bar. Solid liquor selection, decent food, late hours and close to home. Almost perfect if it weren’t for the piss poor service offered by «Marisa». We walked in last night without wny acknowledgement whatsoever. She was actually texting for 5 minutes before I asked her if she worked there to which she replied«no». Two seconds later, she proceeded to serve someone else. Okayyyy… When I asked her what the problem was she stared at me rudely and said«what do you need?» I felt like I was having a stare down with someone who wanted to fight. Again I have no idea why. I told her that I thought she was rude and it was inappropriate. She didn’t care. She went to the other end of the bar where her friends were and continued to serve them with a smile for the rest of the night. It’s service like this that makes me wonder why certain people work in the service industry. It’s also extremely disappointing to be treated like s*** at an establishment where you regularly spend good money. I’ve turned a blind eye to some of the bad service here before but last night really upset me. This woman was beyond rude to everyone except her friends. The guy next to me said she’d been acting like that for two hours… Unnecessary! Definitely won’t be coming in again unless it’s to speak with Marisa’s manager. Twt.

I used to think place was pretty good — cool people, outdoor casual spot with nice bartenders and wait staff. Not any more. Now baby strollers aren’t just jamming the side walks in Carroll Gardens, the aisles in the stores and also screaming in upscale restaurants, but they’ve now claimed their space at Abilene. We were in there at Happy Hour to have a drink and sit outside and have a cigarette. It’s one of the few places that you can do this and is consistent with Abilene being a dive bar. Never before has this been a problem. Until this evening. I should mentioned we always sit far away from any children sitting outside(throwing their food on the ground and crying) just so we don’t infringe on their clean airspace on Court St(you know the street? The main thoroughfare connecting to the BQE?). In any event, the waitress very unapologetically said to us «the people over there have asked you not to smoke because they have a baby». I looked down and couldn’t see them. I looked further all the way down about 7 tables away and said, «that baby all the way down there??» and the waitress looking annoyed with me said, «yes». First of all, she should have been gracious and more apologetic about it. She was flat out rude. Secondly, the kid with her dad were really far away from us. Why take your child to HAPPYHOUR at a dive bar and then complain about people far far away from you smoking a cigarette outside at a bar? I know these parents are attempting to feel«cool» and pretending they can still hang out and go to happy hour and all, but really, to interrupt and ruin someone else’s after work drink because your baby smells smoke is really just self centered, arrogant and flat out LAME. Leave your babies with a sitter or at the very least don’t be so righteous and self important if you bring your kid to a BAR. Abilene, make a smoking section if these parents are always acting like this. I can’t imagine we are the only people that have ever run into this issue there.

Friendly neighborhood spot. All the bartenders are great, and the food is better than you would think from a local bar. Cool outdoor seats in good weather too. Oh and its open 11AM-4AM. Nothing else in the area is open anywhere near as long.

This experience started off so well, then died off. We came on a Sunday afternoon and found the perfect TV next to a fireplace with couches all around. We were able to catch two afternoon games here and enjoyed the beer selection along with Wings and a Cuban sandwich. All orders have to be put in at the bar after 4pm, so that’s fine. The Abilene Cubano could use a little more work since the meat was just too sweet. We received two slices of pickles with the sandwich and about a forkful of coleslaw. Good thing we ordered wings as well. The wings were a good size and good portion. Thinking we can keep the experience rolling, we stayed around til the 830 game. Then the TV’s went off. We checked with the bartender and was informed TV’s don’t come on after 8pm. NOGAMESAFTER8PM. Well, that just killed it for us. No Sunday Night Football here, go elsewhere!

Décor: 4⁄5 –We dropped by here as we waited for Lucali to call us –It is a mellow spot to kick back and kill time Service: 4.5÷5 –good, super friendly service Food: 3⁄5 –Happy Hour from 4 – 7, Kenny C ordered an Allagash White for me. 150 calories, ABV: 5% Belgian wheat beer that’s light and crisp.(4.5÷5) –Fried Okra was pretty bland, even with the Chipotle dipping sauce. You do get quite a bit of okra for $ 6 but eating something bland is not fun.(1⁄5) –I would come back to try their burgers
