Acme is a true gem for still photo shoots. Keep in mind that it is NOT a soundstage — don’t shoot here expecting a silent and perfect environment to shoot motion inside, especially if you’re rolling sound — this isn’t for you! That said, Acme is FULL of character, quirks and love. Full disclosure — I know and love the owner — he is a unique and insanely talented individual whom I both revere and envy. But I’m also an objective Unilocaler. This place is completely ideal for a party. Almost completely ideal for still photography. And a little bit less than ideal for video– but as long as you know these things going in, you won’t be surprised, and you will be extremely pleased with the staff and the vibe here. All accommodations are made, and you won’t find anywhere else as unique and fun in this city, especially at such an affordable price. If you are looking for the equivalent of white glove service, and you want to be treated like you’re some sort of idiotic Fashion God, then get ye to Pier 59 in the city. If you’re truly of the artistic class and enjoy a little bit of surprise, quirk and intrigue, you’re exactly in the right place. The simple mantra which I live my life by applies here especially. Just don’t be a dick, and no one will be a dick to you. Art is supposed to be fun, when you turn into an asshole prick who thinks you’re better than everyone else just because of what you do, then you belong in Manhattan. This place is not that, and that’s what I love about it. I moved to Brooklyn to get away from Manhattan, and now that Brooklyn is Manhattan-East I think I have to Queens… I’m hoping Acme Studio will follow me there, both physically and mentally… Bravo Acme.

Really cool studio — very eclectic and whimsical. A lot of crazy stuff in the bathroom and just all around cool stuff. Space is amazing and staff was really nice and friendly.

I came here recently for a company holiday party and had what turned out to be a great night. Now from the outside, you might think you’re actually walking past a really old abandoned warehouse, which is normal in the Williamsburg area. However, once inside you’ll discover an open studio space with all types of random props hanging from everywhere. From dead animals hanging on the walls to boom boxes and everything in between could be found here. They have two floors of dedicated to holding all of these props for picture opportunities, which we did take advantage of. Towards the back, there is a kitchen area where we enjoyed catered food. There is also a small bar if you’re hosting an event, which you could stock up with a couple of items. If you go into the bathroom nearest to the kitchen, you’re in for a surprise. It’s full of creepy decorations. Like, hanging metal skulls near the toilet bowl and fake insects inside the sink. I would love to come back here for another event!

Came here for an ugly sweater party/screening of Elf and had a blast! Really cool open studio space, with crazy looking props everywhere. The bathroom was the most elaborate I’ve seen, and despite being scared of the fake critter in the sink, I wanted to spend more time in there. Plan more events so I can come back!
