My niece who is 10 asked me to write this review as she absolutely loves Acting Out. Historically I school has amazing voice teachers who are true professionals and care deeply about their students. I saw my niece transform from an ugly duckling to a beautiful Swan after she took her voice lessons with Tifan and Emily. Roberta has entire mock audition staged before kids are going for their middle or high school audition and this school is really fun as my niece couldn’t wait to go there. She is still taking classes long after her audition.

My child came to Acting Out! to prepare for the high school auditions. What she received was far more then just the appropriate training. She has an amazing Vocal coach as well as a whole curriculum of classes in preparation for this rigorous audition process. Once the audition process is over we will continue with her vocal training as well as an acting class. She has met a group of kids that have become friends to her which is huge in this sometimes scary and isolating process. Roberta and John, as well as the staff are personally involved with all their students and are available with questions or concerns along the way. I would highly recommend Acting Out! to any child looking for either audition prep or a place to explore their talents.

This is my second time posting the review. Somehow the first one disappeared or maybe somebody just removed it… My child was going to this Acting Out place for almost a year just because she loved acting out and singing.(Not to get into the middle school) She did not learn much and I never saw or heard any of my daughters performances. I never knew what was happening behind those doors in the classroom. With time after going there she lost all her interest in acting out. Still continued with singing though. Without notifying me her singing teacher was changed. Never got any feedback from private lessons. If your child is sick nobody cared. Still charge you the money. And when I told them we are no longer interested charged my card without my presence and permission. Be careful with your private info. If you still want to give them a chance use cash only. Roberta, the owner was nice and sweet at the beginning. But at the end showed her real face. Rude and very unprofessional without any self control and very poor customer service. The only girl we really liked was Vera. Very pleasant and compassionate. So think twice before picking this place.

My daughter had no acting experience at all, and after 3 months at Acting Out she auditioned for Mark Twain JHS. She scorce a 95.5 on the drama audition and will be attending Mark Twain in September 2015. The instructors at Acting Out are the best.

Acting Out has a dedicated staff that works well with children! My children have been with them for several years and are always happy going back! They have been such a positive influence in helping them train for the Mark Twain G&T test and have been accepted into the drama program!

We came to Acting Out 2 years ago with no real agenda. Our son was interested in acting but nothing serious. In the past 2 years this mild interest of his has formed into a serious passion. Last week we received our acceptance letter to Mark Twain for the Drama cluster! Roberta, Vera, Justin, Sarah and the staff at Acting Out have been amazing coaches and mentors to our son and we are grateful for this 5 star training that’s offered right here in our neighborhood. Just walk in the studio and you will see the signed photos on the wall of people who took classes there and are now on Broadway!

My daughter is a singer and her focus for the past 3 years was to be accepted to LaGuardia high School’s Vocal Studio. She had worked with a private vocal coach who was NOT from Acting Out, and he just didn’t seem to be training her properly for the rigorous LGA audition. When searching for an appropriate camp for my daughter to attend between 7th and 8th grades(she hates swimming and roller coasters, but loves the performing arts), I happened across Acting Out’s Musical Theater Boot Camp. She absolutely LOVED it and I highly recommend it, but more importantly, during the summer, while she was attending camp, I spoke frequently with Roberta(Acting Out’s owner) and we created a plan for my daughter to prepare for performing arts high school auditions. She placed my daughter with Emily, a phenomenal vocal coach who knew exactly what my daughter was expected to do during her auditions. My daughter even did a «mock audition» at Acting Out in front of a panel of Acting Out judges who told her exactly what she needed to change or emphasize during her audition for LaGuardia. We recently found out that my daughter WASACCEPTED to LaGuardia’s vocal program!!! This is her dream come true!!! I honestly can say that without Roberta, Emily and Acting Out, this would not have been possible. I can’t even stress how difficult it is to get into a performing arts school without this kind of training. YOUCANNOTWINGTHIS, FOLKS!!! Acting Out strives for excellence and their goal is the highest level: LaGuardia or PPAS — not Murrow or Ft. Hamilton, unless those are the schools that you are asking for. Thank you, Roberta and Emily. I will be in contact shorty about the guitar lessons that we discussed. Is there anything related to talent that you don’t do??? Cheryl & Jenna

Acting Out! gets results! The staff here strives for excellence and shoots straight from the hip. My daughter is a dancer who came here for High School Audition Prep and got so much more. She started with the Musical Theatre Bootcamp last summer and loved it, then went on to complete the High School Audition Prep program and eased through her auditions and received several callbacks. She also signed up for the Teen Acting, Musical Theatre and Vocal classes this year. With this training in a short time, she has landed two performing arts high school offers, the lead role in her school play, and just yesterday won her school’s Drama Award!!! Thank you, Acting Out!

My teenage daughter started taking classes at Acting Out! when she was 8 years old and still loves it there!\ It’s truly a wonderful place. There are classes in acting, singing, and musical theatre, as well as audition coaching and prep for middle school and high school auditions. The teachers are so caring and so knowledgeable. For children who are shy, there are nurturing beginner classes to give them confidence and bring them out of their shell, and for children who are serious about a career in the performing arts, there are advanced classes that challenge them and bring them to a professional level. They also have one-day workshops, five-day intensives, and a five-week musical theatre camp. For kids who enjoy acting and/or singing, it’s the best place in Brooklyn!(They also have some adult classes!)
