The Wed afternoon staffer at the register seems to be contemptous of someone earnestly asking for information, forgetting that he couls be losing a future sale. I guess he doesn’t care.

Very nice board shop in the neighbourhood. Alex helped me get my first snowboard today! He is so friendly and willing to share his knowledge with me without pushing me to purchase anything. And he helped setting up the board for me! This is a must see if you are looking for snow gear in the neighbourhood. They also carry variety of surfing stuff.

The staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and are actual surfers(unlike the employees at a major chain surf shop which will shall remain nameless – I did want to state for the record that if your salesperson does not surf they have no business selling a surfboard to you). Peter, who I think is one of the owners, gave me a great overview of the different types of surfboards available and which is the best fit for a surfer of my level. Most importantly, I learned why the more«pro”-looking surfboards are a bad idea for someone of my ability(beginner-intermediate). He also patiently answered many of my noobish surfing questions. My knowledge of surfing jumped by leaps and bounds after just an hour of hanging out Aegir! Peter is an asset to the NYC surfing community. His dedication to this sport shows.

Peter is the best! He loves surfing and is totally egalitarian about it. He does an amazing job on board repairs too. I’ve been to several surf shops between Long Beach and Montauk — those places are not friendly or even really into helping. Peter’s attitude keeps me going back to Aegir’s time and again because I am someone who has questions and is always wanting to learn, and Peter will talk with you instead of treating the shop like a 7 – 11 expecting you to get-in and get what you need on your own and get out. I’m finally in the market for a longboard and just remembered old conversations with Peter. Gotta stop by soon!

We walked in today, about 20 minutes ago, to look at suits and boards. We are just visiting, but my boyfriend was willing to buy a new suit and board here to take back with him, if he could figure out where to surf nearby in NYC. When my boyfriend asked«where can you surf here?», the jerk sitting behind the desk responded«Long Island, Jersey. You can surf here to Florida, whole coast»(USA, entire East coast) in the most pretentious way possible. Telling someone inquiring about«here» who is likely interested in surfing(he is in your damn surf shop after all) obviously is referring to actual surf spots nearby. If you’re defensive about your surf spots and hate foreigners and tourists, get over yourself. Or only sell surf equipment to locals, post a nice sign on the door. But don’t be incredibly rude when someone asks you a question. Considering they may have bought a lot from you. You lost a customer

Great place to come to if you’re new or intermediate snowboarder. The owner took the time to find a great board and set up for me based on what I was looking for. I ended up getting boots and bindings as well but not from him pressuring me. Was a little nervous cause I am only familiar with the big brand names like Burton or K2, and never heard of Arbor before, but when I looked up the reviews for the Arbor board I got plus the bindings /boots they were excellent.

These guys are awesome! Laid back vibe and super friendly. No high pressure sales and the dudes are cool. At first, I walked by and almost didn’t notice it. I walked in and after checking out the wares, decided on picking up an Arbor cruiser. Ended up staying a bit longer to shoot the shit and play with the awesome dog there.

Very cool shop. Born and raised in San Diego looking for a comparable west coast shop. This was the place. Great staff. Had what I needed and at a good price. I will be back again for sure. If you have your doubts, don’t.

Been in here for both surf and snowboard gear, and Shaun has been awesome every time — knowledgeable, friendly and intent on actually helping you get the right gear. It has the feel of a local shop you want to go hang out in, talk about recent sessions in the water or the mountains, and generally be surrounded by other people who love the same things. Love this shop, a well earned 5 stars.

Awesome board shop with great selection! By far the best in NYC. They aren’t a «Fashion Forward» board shop like the others. They are focused on providing the best gear at an affordable price. Not to mention this is owner run, so every experience is top notch. Thanks Shaun and Pete!

Shaun and Pete are the power duo of the industry! These guys know the ins and out of every product in the store, whether you’re purchasing a snowboard, surfboard, wetsuit or skateboard, they use their expertise to make sure the consumer is getting whats right. Did I mention that they hosts some rad parties right in the heart of DUMBO? Keep up the good work guys, will stop by again soon!

It’s funny you would think that the board shops would be in Manhattan but this is by far the best board shop in the city. I’m still kind of new to city and wasn’t even aware of a surfing scene in NYC but one of the owner Shaun was really in getting me caught up. Great ppl, Great shop!

These guys were awesome from start to finish. Super friendly and knowledgeable. They tuned my snowboard up nicely and mounted my new bindings. Everything was done as requested. Even though it was a small transaction(money-wise), they treated me like a very valued customer. I will definitely go back for tune-ups and any other snowboard needs our family has.

Started surfing this past year and Aegir has been there every step of the way. I’m so stoked on them that I may even start snowboarding this winter and I’ll definitely be going to these guys for all of my needs. Chill, laid back vibe. Killer selection. Great prices. In my opinion one of the best board shops in all of NYC. From products to advice they are spot-on.

I love this store! The owners were so easy going and helpful. I liked how they owned the place but worked the floor which just shows how much they care about providing excellent customer service. They had such a cool selection of merchandise. I found the longboard of my dreams there and my friend bought a really cool t shirt, it was an awesome experience.
