CASHONLY! There’s a ATM. They don’t have the beer and shot special on a Saturdays. :(But brownie points for the Male Bartender with long hair being attentive upon arrival.

Simple dive-y bar. Prices aren’t too high at all. Put definitely just a beer sort of place [ie. dont go looking for fancy cocktails]. Great place if you’re looking for a relatively tame night, but don’t want to stay in! If you’re looking for a cooper union style early-20s type of crowd, this is your place!

My favorite dive bar. Friendly staff. Good music. Good selection of beer and whiskey. Good prices. What more can you ask? Oh yeah clean bathrooms too.

My girlfriend and I were literally the only people in there for a few hours on a Friday evening, and the bartender(bless his heart) was trying to make conversation, but doing such an awful job at it, when we truly just wanted to be left alone. Maybe if he was bored, he should have cleaned the bathroom. I’ve been in sketchy bathrooms before, but really, how does the bathroom get that truly disgusting by 7pm on a Friday?

Eh… small, dark, really cold, hella random, bathroom really dirty, bartenders real hipster, security guards really nice/cool, rock music, drinks real strong… eh, I’ll be back! :)

I seriously love this place. Cheap whiskey, mostly friendly bartenders, and pretty low key most nights except those DJ nights. My favorite bar to visit when I just want a simple drink and quiet enough for conversation.

It was our last night in NYC(staying at the NY Loft Hostel). We didn’t feel like taking the train anywhere. We didn’t feel like walking across the street to Tutu’s for the nth time. Somewhere along the way, we decided on Alaska. It was supposed to be a quick walk from our hostel but we ended up walking past it several times due to the lack of signage(one star off, dbags). I really enjoyed the kitschy décor. I think what kept it from being overwhelmingly hipster was the high ceilings, lack of actual hipsters, and the friendly bartender(had great things to say about Chicago, A+). It was $ 5 for a beer and a shot – a bargain compared to our other nights out. The music wasn’t too loud and the dark/cabin-in-the-woods atmosphere prompted our group to start telling ghost stories. Thanks for a great night, Alaska!

Sometimes you just want a normal bar… that plays Bill Nye and Sharknado during that late hours of the night. Is that too much to ask for? Luckily for you there is Alaska. While for some getting over to here might be like traveling to a far away land, with a lot of garbage in between(sorry Canada). If you find yourself in Bushwick however this makes a great destination. The beers are great and well priced. Don’t go for a cocktail though. I came with a date once and she wanted something different. She was asking about a Manhattan. I explained to her, DONOTORDER A MANHATTANFROMTHISPLACE! She didn’t take my advice and ordered herself a Manhattan, which soon became my problem because she couldn’t take the awful taste of whatever our bartender attempted to make. On that note, stick to the beer here. Much better than the real Alaska.

The comment from this business’ owner is proof of the bad attitude I experienced when visiting this bar. The beers that evening may not have been my taste, no harm there. It was the customer service, or lack there of, that pushed me to write my review, and I hope other Unilocalers find the warning helpful.

This is a good bar to hit on a Tuesday afternoon. It was just us, the bartender, and a horror movie. And beer.

You may not be able to see Russia, but you can definitely go skiing in Alaska. Also the only bar I’ve been to that does a Coors/shot deal. Just the right amount of kitsch. Damn, do I love this place.

Why is this place so loud??? What’s up with all the wallpaper? We’re in New York City, not Montana. We’re in New York City, not a sad Urban Oufitters catalog. Deer antlers?!? The décor and music are not in good taste. It’s what people that move to Bushwick from Montana imagine New York to be like… an Urban Outfitters catalog… You know what I mean… Also, there were too many 50 year old men getting wasted alone and giving me the eye. I’m 24, all the people I was with were over 30, and I felt like I was too old to be there. I don’t like.

Hidden as hidden gets, Alaska will take you to a place of loud music(almost too loud) great bear, and a intimate, dark atmosphere with candles, booths and a comfy couch. Deer head above the bar, woodsy wallpaper, you get the idea. Reminds me of the bars back in SF. A super cozy spot with an above average beer selection and a projector always playing movies with subtitles on a wall. I look forward to having a few beers in during the cold months of winter.

Do you want to take a trip? Leave the city for a bit and just get away? If you said, «YES!». I’ve got place for you… Alaska is a hidden gem off the Morgan Stop. You might walk around a bit a couple of times before finding it, but it’s there. This place is dark, candlelit and very chill. The drink specials are great as well. You can’t beat 2-for-1 on the good draft beers they have. If you just want to relax or bring a date for some good one on one time. This is the place.

As Williamsburg gets more and more hipster, with more and more people migrating to North Brooklyn to live and play, I find myself feeling a bit claustrophobic around the L St. Stop. I’ve already gone to most of the worthy places in this area and somehow when things start to get really popular, I find myself needing to bail out and find lesser known venues to cure my need for adventure. A friend of mine does Ethiopian pop-up here every so often and a few months back, I decided to come here to support him. What he does is awesome. He serves vegan Ethiopian food, usually in a bar that doesn’t have food offerings. Cool idea, and he does some cool non-profit stuff and shows some important documentaries about social conditions in Africa. Sam, you da man! This bar was just perfect. A little deeper into Brooklyn, a little seedier, and now you start seeing some eye-sore bodegas, yea right on the cusp on hipsterdom and reality. I like that. No insulation. Rawness right in front of you. Opposition living together, well sort of. Nothing on the outside to identify the place. Cool. They have some sort of small«veggie» stall outside. Even better. Walk inside, yea, urban woodsmen for the win. An article describes this place as, «frontier feel.» I totally agree. Just think lots of wood, plaid shirts, beards, Paul Bunyan. And yet I guarantee you, there are no Republicans in here. A good selection of tap beers, IPA to fill you up for the long night ahead. Reasonable prices, not too many people. I like that not too many people have discovered it yet, and really it was just a fun easy night out.

A drunk girl threw a drink on me, aiming for the guy near me. No one at the bar did anything and they continued to serve the drunk girl. At $ 8 for a Ketel1/soda I expect to at least be free from flying beverages. I can overlook a lot, but this is too far. I will not be back.

Alaska’s a damned solid bar. A friend and I stopped in for a beer on a neighborhood pub crawl. I’d put Alaska in the loungy-divey category of bar. Deer heads, red and gold deer wallpaper, and lots of drinks abound. The whiskey selection was impressive, but my friend and I opted for a $ 5 shot and a beer(which for just one dollar more, got us a Modelo and a Jim Beam shot, not bad at all). The bar was pretty empty when we visited(around midnight on a Saturday). Wonder when it’s full? In any event, a cool place.

Yeah, thanks for not being a sports bar. I like the selection, dim lighting, and the music has been great the times I’ve been in… I vaguely remember the Zombies being played. Keep it up, and don’t get a fucking television.
