I was used a standup for the first time on Friday the machine was filthy, hair in the corners etc. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting, you’d be afraid to use it incase you came out with a disease YUK!!!

Love this place !!! The girls are always helpful and gorgeous! when I first started tanning I fair skinned meaning I burn however I tan very well after I burn. I told one of the girls there this and she set me up in bed 3 started me off for 8 minutes after a week I went up to 12 and I’m dark as anything. The beds are always cleaned and if your a germ freak like me they’ll literally clean it again if you ask which in some places you’ll usually get the eye roll from a worker but not here !

Customer service is great and bed Nr 8 (I think — first one in your right when u walk in) is the best bed u ever had. Instant color and no burn at all. It says a lot coming from me as I have a fair skin and usually tan red lobster first. Color holds long time and there never is any red so it looks natural and healthy immediately. Will be coming back regularly. Thanks!

Went by in the early afternoon, the woman at the front was very friendly and helped me choose a better tanning bed. Wasn’t the same girl as the time before. This one was pretty cool! 4 stars for you!!!

Pros — good beds, customer service, lovely environment.
Cons — pricey tanning packages because they go by something called «points». I believe each point is about $ 8? Not worth it.

Okay, I know– Tanning is BAD… but so is being whiter than the bride’s dresses at the five weddings I have coming up! (shoot me.)
However, tanning at Alaskan Sun has been a better experience than I’ve had at other tanning salons, especially in Brooklyn.
In most tanning salons I get pushed into a stupid package by a guy/​girl decked out in Abercrombie from 1998 with fake colored hair and fake colored skin… at Alaskan sun the Ken doll behind the counter just rang up what I purchased, handed me eye shields and a towel and let me enjoy my 7 minutes of «sun» at 11pm.
It’s certainly not as pretty as say Solar Salon in Chelsea or Portofino in SoHo where I have to dish out 40 dollars for one tan, but Alaskan Sun does the job– and while I may worry that my Jersey roots are showing as I leave the tanning bed, I do not hate the atmosphere I have tanned in.
