I got the chicken roti for $ 7. That thing is a brick. Stuff with big chunks of chicken, but it’s all bone-in, so a lot of it was bones. There’s a slight hint of sweetness in the chicken, and the hot sauce is pretty good. In hindsight, I should’ve went for the beef or conch.

Good roti. Good roti. Good roti. And if you have patience prepare for a line out the door. Everything is made fresh and the pepper sauce is just as fresh. So the best roti is when you put everything in it including pumpkin, spinach and pepper. I use to just get Chana and potatoes, and a dear friend of mine said«Girl you have not had a roti till you have had it with pumpkin, spinach, and pepper.» I’m ashamed to admit I was born there but I’ve been here for so long and I kind of keep my plate simple at family functions. So I’m the one that use to be a picky eater and scorn almost everything. I ate like a bird back then. Now my taste buds have matured so I try mostly anything I see now at the table. Except pone! Yuck. Anyway back to curry! I should marry me an Indian is what my aunts say because I can eat curry all the time. And that’s a main dish for many Indians in the Caribbean.(No it’s not a jab) I can tell you right away if your curry is even worth anyone’s time. I’m a curry CONNOISSEUR! Lml. There I’ve said it! Please don’t challenge me on that. I will win! The curry was seasoned well, maybe days before! Fresh seasoning is something you can smell before you take a bite and then you begin to salivate before it can hit your lips. Lol. Mouth watering curry is what his curry is. You don’t believe me go beg and see if they give you a sample nah! Anywho it was good! The roti skin i chose in this pic is the one with out dal puri in it(chick peas) and it tasted pretty good. Next time I will get dal puri roti which is almost always my first choice! There’s several tables to have a seat and enjoy your meal. I suggest you do.

Moist, aromatic, cheap. Can’t ask for more on a chilly evening.

the best roti there is. it’s usually really packed especially on weekends buts well worth the wait. I usually get a roti with spinach, pumpkin, potato and Chana and little tamarind sauce. flavorful and deliciousssss. the best in Brooklyn, hands down.

$ 8.50 for a shrimp roti… I figured I could go back to an old faithful, but not so. The shrimp was blah, but the potatoes & chana made the roti good. I’m used to getting roti that is so filling that I can’t finish it. I ate this shrimp roti in about 10 minutes, while I was driving. Maybe I ordered a kid’s portion, and paid for an adult portion? I’ll give Ali’s on Fulton another shot, before I waste my money here

These roti’s are BOMB. Had the boneless chicken. Full of flavor, well wrapped, I know the reviews from the past said the lady was rude but she was friendly when I came(maybe she was having a good summer day?). I wish they had sides like mac n cheese, yams, collard greens, and all of that good stuff but they are only a roti spot. So if you want the works, I would recommend knowing where you are going to get those sides from. The rotis are worth the sacrifice though.

This place has fantastic, authentic Trinidadian food. The roti are incredible, but be prepared for a sizable meal!

Eating roti anywhere else in Brooklyn is pointless. Haven’t tried on their dinners but their rotis are amazingly delicious. I always by a get the boneless chicken and I am never disappointed. Always savory always well cooked… if you add some tamarind sauce and a little pumpkin… Yummmmm. Don’t be deterred by the long lines… its so worth the wait.

Maaaaaaan listen, I haven’t had chicken in almost 3 months. Let alone anything curry in even longer. My GF had been talking about this place for soooooooo long and we decided to have a cheat day & ran to Ali’s. The craziest part of it all is that I used to ride my bike up and down Utica Ave as a teenager! Anyway, just standing in line is an orgasmic experience in itself! Watching everyone’s order before you get made, all the gooey items being slammed onto that delectable roti(bussup in Trini)! Once you get to the glass counter, the options of combinations is overwhelming to say the least.(There sre vegetarian items but I wasn’t being one this day!) I got curry shrimp w/potatoes & chick peas. Tamarind & pepper sauce to top it off. 2 doubles on the side and a passion fruit, guava to wash it alllllll down. I made sweet, sweet salivating love to that roti & doubles. Ali’s will be another love in my foodie Universe and my #1 cheat day go to! Bless those cooks and that kitchen!

I’ve been jonesing for some authentic NY Caribbean food since the last time I visited my hometown. There are always a few things I have to get while I’m in NY. Caribbean food, White Castle, Chinese food, and pizza are always on the menu. I found this place as I do most of my restaurants, randomly perusing Unilocal. This place was at the top when I typed in Caribbean restaurant so of course I had to check it out. When I first walked in the smell took over my nostrils. I could smell a little bit of everything, from curry to jerk chicken. It was a mixture of different dishes. I was so excited about the potential greatness that was before me that I didn’t even realize that the line was almost out of the door. I stood in that line as anxious as a person waiting on a call from a potential job. As I got to the front I realized that it was set up so you could actually see all of the food while you order. I was intrigued by the curry duck on the menu but they were all out. My woman was upset by this and the fact that they were all out of oxtails as well so she decided not to get anything. It was early in the day so I just looked at that as a way to say that it must be good. I decided to get a curry chicken roti. A pleasant surprise was that they also had a boneless chicken option but I didn’t feel it wouldn’t be the same without the bones. I sat down at a table and bit into my roti like a savage who had never had a meal and to my delight it was sooooooooo good. The rate bread was hot and was very fresh and soft. It somewhat melted in my mouth with the channa and potatoes. I could have gone back to Georgia after leaving here and be satisfied. Authenticity, speed of service, and quality of food. A+ across the board.

Yum yum yum… When I first found this spot I was a vegetarian and the rotis were the greatest. The channa with the saag and curry spices makes it all good. Then I started eating chicken again and I tried their chicken curry roti. This was so good, not spicy but flavorful with many layers of taste. Especially the tamarind sauce which adds a little bit of heat and sweetness. The service is not the best but I just love the food so much that it out shines their sometimes rudeness. Pretty sure it’s a Trini thing, don’t take it personal they just want to get the long line moving. On relax day they are more engaged.

Le sigh I should have known better. I had a serious craving for doubles this morning. Had no time to shoot down to Nostrand and Fulton. Came to Ali’s on Utica. The channa is bland(I asked for tamarind and pepper sauce cuz I like it sweet and hot.) I got no sauce. The double was super greasy. I’ll just wait next time and stick to Sharon’s on 179th and Hillside Ave in Queens.

I know I have already left a tip for this business, but I was just so inclined to write a review. Just the other day I visited this establishment and bought one of their famous chicken rotis. These rotis are sooo good. My roti was so plump this time with chicken, potatoes, and chick peas. I asked for extra pepper on the side and it was given to me without hesitation. The people there are so nice and the food is spiced with their very own Trinidadian spices. Although I wanted a goat and chicken roti, I ordered two chicken rotis and I was completely satisfied. The man behind the counter was very pleasant and the service was delightful. I can definitely say these are the best Trinidadian rotis in Town.

I don’t often frequent Crown Heights. But when I happen to be in the area and I pass by Ali’s Original Roti there is always a huge line. Today happened to be one of those days. I was hungry and feeling adventurous so i stepped in and joined the spiral line in the lobby. The line was so long that it was winding into itself. I mean, C’mon! If there is a line like that, the food HAS to be good. Otherwise what are we waiting for? I was not disappointed! The food was fresh, spicy and delicious! They have my recommendation. :)

When I want to fill my belly I head to Ali’s. Authentic Trinidadian food made with love. I was introduced to Ali’s about 7 years ago and since then I’ve been a faithful patron. I love the chicken roti. The curry seasoning is ridiculously tasty. It has that homemade island vibe. Like something you would smell your neighbor cooking and you just want to knock on the door to invite yourself in. It’s that GOOD. The lines are long but with good reason. Ali’s is a Definite WINNER in my book.

When you see a long line… you know the food is outstanding. I was right! I had heard of Ali’s Roti shop but surprisingly as a Brooklyn native and Caribbean kid, never had a roti from there. Glad I finally tried it and worth the 15 minute wait. I love the different choices: chicken, boneless chicken, duck, goat etc. They also have a veggie option that looked really good(and I’m a die-hard meat lover). I got the boneless chicken and it was so moist and buttery. The roti tasted homemade and absolutely delicious. I had intentions of sharing but after that first bite, that quickly changed. Clean décor, hard wood floors, and a spacious area to sit and eat. I’ll definitely be back!

I went here for the second time since July and they were equally as disrespectful. Firstly the woman at the counter gave me a once over and stared at my diamond ring while taking my order, didn’t say ‘hello’ or anything. Secondly, her co-worker who put my meal together was busy chatting with a random guy who wasn’t even patronizing the restaurant instead of focusing on my food. Then, I asked if they put tamarind sauce on my doubles just to make sure and the woman abruptly said ‘yes’ before I even got to finish. Deep inside I wanted to throw my bag at her head but I was super hungry and didn’t want to cause a scene. Overall my experience was terrible and I am never going back there again. I suggest none of you do so either they have no idea what customer service means. Never again!!!
