On a Friday night at about 6:30, we were told that most tables were reserved! That’s a first for an Italian restaurant. Oh, they found my husband and I a two seater in the glass room. I prefer not to sit by a full glass window, that’s just me. But I was dying to give Anthony’s a try. The bread came out. It was thin and not hot. The garlic knots were hot and tasty. Prices seemed good and most dishes came with a salad and pasta. That is very good. The salad was huge and very good. My husband ordered the veal cutlet and potato crochet. I ordered eggplant parm, and ziti. My husband’s meal came to the table intact. My eggplant, which was tiny, did not arrive with the ziti. I asked the waitress three times to bring me the ziti. I also asked the busboy. My ziti came when I was halfway thru with the meal. When I complained to the waitress, her answer was, we can take it off the bill. That’s an answer? I wanted a full meal. The red sauce was bad. The red sauce is the whole thing in an Italian restaurant. It is an indicator of greatness. Although the meal was edible, it was sub par. The noise level was extremely loud. We could barely hear each other. There was one waitress in the glass room. I think she is overwhelmed. I really wanted to love this place. But I was too aggravated. My neighborhood pizzeria makes a delicious eggplant parm. I will go there and enjoy.

Firstly, I hate being bullshitted. Upon entering for lunch, we asked if we could sit in the glass room section facing the street. The waiter told us that the sun was too strong and we would be uncomfortable in there. We responded that we didn’t think it would be a problem and headed in that direction– and were stopped quickly by the same waiter who told us about the sun. He now changed his story to «this section is closed». Ok. Now we sit down in the main dining area and it’s obvious that he didn’t want to have the customers spread all about the«huge» restaurant.(I’m being sarcastic). So we start off with a bread basket with one little old lonely piece of Italian bread that was rock hard. The waiter(same BS’r) comes to take our order. I ask for fresh bread and he immediately and defensively barks that this bread was delivered a half hour ago and IS fresh. My pal tells him that they need a new bread supplier if this is fresh bread. The busboy who overheard, discreetly brought us another bread tray. Smart guy. At the table next to us is 4UPS drivers on their lunch break. The waiter(not ours) brought them garlic knots and some kind of bruschetta which she announced was«on the house». What are we? Second class citizens? Now, We order. The food comes. Not very tasty. Nothing really wrong but nothing memorable. My friend thought the red sauce had an odd smell but it was digestible. At this point I notice the owner, wandering near the door, more interested in his cell phone than greeting or checking to see if customers are satisfied. My friend is mumbling about how he’ll not return, purposely within earshot and loud enough to be noticed. The owner never gave him a second look. This place just relocated to this location from a block away. Pretty big investment. One would think he’d give some attention to new customers. I got the feeling that if the waiter or waitress know you, don’t expect even passable service. And the owner didn’t seem to care.

I like this restaurant because it truly has the feel of an old school family owned and operated restaurant in a neighborhood that has not changed much in the last fifty years or so. It is incredibly casual and very busy and rightfully so. Another positive about this place is that even though it is incredibly casual, they do offer wifi to customers if you ask. This is not exactly the type of place that one would choose for a business meeting but nonetheless, my friend and I brought our laptops and used them while we were eating. The service is attentive and friendly and we were greeted immediately and brought some delicious bread with garlic and oil on it; we loved it. The Peroni was cold and delicious. We ordered fried calamari to start and it was ok but it wasn’t great because I thought it could have been cooked a little longer. We shared stuff rigatoni in an a la vodka sauce and chicken francese and both meals were very small compared to what we saw other tables order. The food was quite delicious, don’t get me wrong but the portions were really small. The chicken was not a pounded cutlet but rather a few strips of white meat in the lemon sauce… very interesting. We enjoyed the cappuccino and the chocolate mousse cake a lot and I would go back just for the cappuccino and dessert and try some of their baked pasta dishes.

The best kept secret in this part of Brooklyn(Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park, Manhattan Beach, etc.). Although they specialize in Italian cuisine, they also have great dishes for those with an «American appetite. A MUSTEAT item on their menu is the BOBSALAD. it is «to die for»(just kidding). Try to «pace yourself» while eating this very delicious salad. It is soooooo good that you will not have room in your belly when your main course arrives because you’ve «pigged out» on this salad from Heaven. SPECIALNOTE: Anthony’s will be moving to there new home just 2 blocks West of their location on Avenue X, near East 23 Street to a much larger establishment on Avenue X, corner of Ocean Avenue by the end of this month(May 2016). Tell them Santa On A Harley sent you next time you visit their eatery.

Every single time I have been to Anthony’s, I have been amazed at the quality of the food. Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. There’s a definite reason I go there to eat once per week. Definitely recommended — a true neighborhood gem! And, I am happy to hear that they are moving to a larger location only two blocks away. This way, more people can enjoy this absolutely delicious food.

I wanted to get a review in before Anthony’s Place moved to a new location on Ocean Ave. I’m very much looking forward to this, as the location looks fantastic and considering Anthony’s(sometimes applicable) quality, you can only assume they’re going to try to become a bigger name than they actually are. The old location had charm and it really echoed an older Brooklyn than you don’t get to see anymore these days; especially up north. Note: This is for take-out. I’ve had Anthony’s about 6 times for take-out and delivery. The first four times were outrageously good. Good buffalo wings, awesome tomato and mozzarella, riggatoni vodka, steak pizzaiola; all awesome. Buffalo wings for some insane reason never came with bleu cheese, no one way to really understand why. The other two times we ordered, everything was either flat compared to before or just simply bad. And real bad. As if no effort was made whatsoever. I did notice that the last two times we ordered(and then promptly stopped because I absolutely do not have the time or patience for bad take-out and two strikes is generous) it was during the week, and the quality product came out during the weekend. I’ve only picked up but despite it’s old(you can say classic, too) interior, I would not have minded to come here to eat. There is no way I’m going to miss the opening of the new location for a dine-in experience, and I hope that’s going to be a 5 star review. If the kitchen decides to bring their A-game like they did before, that should be easy.

I find it pretty good. So far having just lunch though to avoid the busy life of dinner. The service from Anthony(jr) is awesome. The food is spectacular in my opinion

Great place, wonderful staff and homemade wine, that will keep you coming back any chance you get. This trip, our table ordered… Apps: AWESOME garlic knots, calamari, stuffed artichoke and salads Dinner: A garlic oil and prosciutto pasta, their special– a stuffed fish(halibut I believe) and 2 chicken marsalas. Dessert– Zepolles, Berry tart, chocolate mousse cake!(Looks like a chocolate cheesecake, but its not and a million times more creamy and yummy) Drinks– BESTHOMEMADEWINEEVER(sorry Italian family) and espresso with Sambuka!(If you’ve never tried it, it’s a must! Sambuka is an anise flavored liquor, which makes the PERFECT after dinner drink) Overall It’s a perfect place for every occasion, and I may say some of the best Italian I’ve found in Brooklyn! People aren’t kidding about the wine though… bring a designated driver. It’s so good you forget there is even alcohol in it. My only thing that was so-so was the marsala dishes. Though it was good, it wasn’t the chicken marsala my Italian friend and I were expecting flavor wise. Now every family is different, and may vary by region, but neither of us were too excited by it. There was a different taste to it, like it maybe had cumin in it? Anyway, last advice is to save room for dessert! Every one was amazing. And the fact they make the zeppoles in small bite size pieces, it made it perfect for sharing. I highly suggest everyone check it out! *I heard they’re opening a second location… woo hoo!*

It’s okay. I would say it’s a great option for the area since there isn’t really any other place like this. I got the squid ink linguini and it fell short of my expectations the texture felt plasticky. The seafood that came with it was good, however. Also ordered the black mussels and they were good but could have used more flavor in the soup(more garlic or butter) but was also a bit on the salty side for me. Also ordered Bob salad which just means it’s cut into smaller pieces and it was alright.

We ordered food from here to go so this is based on at-home taste-testing. Never had a filet parm so I thought I would try it with pasta. It’s a fried filet with spaghetti. I enjoyed the flavor of the fish though I would not typically pair that with spaghetti. The bf got an eggplant parm with pasta and thought it was pretty good too. We enjoyed the sauce and the flavors and would come back :)

Ok. You won me over. So I asked for eggplant parm, I ask for less cheese(blasphemy, I know) and I get a super filled eggplant parm with less cheese. I don’t want any extra carbs, so the place offers me a side salad, which hit the spot, and was a great compliment to the parm!!! The price is right too.

I had such high hopes: I’m aching for a new local Italian spot. Unfortunately, my cavatelli marinara was served in a bowl of water, which made the whole dish bland and unsatisfying.

FROMHOMEMADEWINE(who does that?) to PIZZA& more MYBROOKLYNFAMILY&FRIENDS have been coming here for many moons! My brother Pete(Moose) has been coming here forever, he hates going out to eat, but this one of those rare exceptions. My poor mom who is now in Coney Island Hospital(where they usually do what they do best… that is screw-up), used to come with her friends, but soon no more, since she will be going to hospice. Anyway, my mom & her senior cronies, used to come here while they were still alive & kicking. Even though they the split almost everything, and were as frugal(or cheap) as can be, the owners & workers(bless their soul) welcomed them with an open heart. Their kindness should not be forgotten. When I visited my family to help out, my brother insisted that my wife & I go here with him. He claimed that they had fantastic homemade Italian food, and that they loved him. He was right on both accounts, it seems. As usual, I ordered a plethora of all kinds of goodies(see pics), and all was outstanding. My wife especially loved the vegetarian Pizza, which is usually difficult for most places to get nice & crispy, as well as, tasty. This place has been there many years & is really a throw back to the happier days of yore. Since my mom was so extremely ill, it was hard to cheer us up, but these wonderful people & their food, managed to take us away from our misery, at least, for a few precise hours. Since I do not yet know my fate of my brother after my mom is gone, I am not sure if we will ever have the pleasure of dinning here again. My brother now has a house that is only a few blocks away, but he is likely to relocate to Florida. What else is new for NYers(& others who want to go to tax friendly state)? Unfortunately for him(& maybe for us in the future), Florida is unlikely to have an old school Italian place right down the street. If it did, I would be afraid to walk there, since I do not want to become an appetizer for neither bugs nor gators.

Been a few years, time for an update. My family still loves Anthony’s! It continues to be the right combination of excellent Italian food, warm welcoming homeyness, and reasonable prices that makes it a perfect restaurant for family dinners with the kids & grandparents. We recently tried their homemade red wine, and it’s great — tastes a bit on the sweet side and gives you a good buzz. It’s a big plus that they take reservations for our large group, and when we arrive the table’s been set up and we don’t wait. We appreciate Anthony’s even more now because they’ve been so wonderfully consistent while other Italian places we know have tended to go downhill.

I have only gotten delivery or take out here, never eaten in the restaurant. I recently ordered delivery, and I was really impressed with the customer service. Usually I have found the staff at places like this to rush you and be somewhat rude, but not here. For example, I could not hear my phone ringing when the delivery person arrived. I felt HORRIBLE after I saw three missed phone calls. When I called the restaurant back, the woman who answered the phone was very sweet and alerted me that the delivery person was still in my lobby. I expected him to be angry, but he was very nice and patient, a wonderful human being! I tried to tip him extra for being so cool. I’m really impressed by the service. I’ve had the fettuccine alfredo here and it was very good, so creamy! Really excellent and flavorful. You also get a great sized portion, leftovers for two days every time! The garlic knots are great, addicting. The chicken francese is good with a rich and flavorful taste, and so is the chicken parmigiana. I have to say I was not impressed with my chicken marsala. The chicken tasted off, almost like the chicken you find in a lean cuisine meal, and the sauce was heavy with no real marsala flavor.

–Great food and great service –In my opinion, the food here is even better than the food I had in Italy! –Make reservations if it’s a Friday or Saturday –The only bad thing about my most recent experience here was that there was butter all over the top of my boyfriend’s chair –I came here 3 times and the food is consistently great-I love the Chicken Marsala and Chicken Francese. The chicken parm is very good too but not as good as the other 2. People are raving about the fried mozzarella but to me it’s pretty standard. I would save room for the entrée and dessert.
