A great neighborhood bar. Karaōke nights on Wednesday are particularly fun and the place always has lots of live music. A firm favorite.

Came in for a beer while we were waiting for a table at Fonda. I was almost disappointed out wait was’t longer because it was a nice bar. Very small and cozy, but a good beer selection and a really decent live band doing nice covers of pop songs(but slower and without lyrics). Def a nice spot, I don’t know that I would be back since I’m not in this area too often, but if so I’d def stop in.

Friendly neighborhood bar. Cool décor and a stage for local musicians to perform. We stopped by when my cousin was in town to meet up with some college friends and although it was a Friday night, it wasn’t too crowded. Good music. Great selection of beers, especially on tap.

Sweet small space. Cash only but there is an ATM in the back. Was there for live music the other night.

Reasonable prices, good music, foosball, great bartenders. I prefer it when its less crowded and not sure about open mic night yet, but overall this spot is a great local bar to hang at.

Fun for karaōke night, not too packed, decent rotation, the DJ for karaōke is fun and keeps the crowd in a fun mood, has two for one deals as well.

This quiet bar across from Thistle Hill Tavern is a great spot to get a drink while waiting on a dinner reservation. My girlfriend and I were pleased to find out that happy hour was happening on Saturday evening. We had cocktails, and I believe each was about $ 4 – 6. You get a good amount of alcohol too. I watched and my drink wasn’t mixed with water or anything else. Apparently the place turns into a karaōke bar, band space and/or dance hall late at night, so avoid visiting late in the evening unless that’s your thing.

It has drinks and stools and nice ‘tenders, but there’s something about this place that doesn’t make it seem like a bar. It probably has loyal regulars, but I won’t be one. Don’t take it personally Bar 4, we just have different personalities and we’re after different things. Take a walk with me. Let’s say you plan to go bar hopping and you’re at your second stop. Here’s what can happens. You either a) start sobering up. b) maintain current level. c) start feeling it a little/lot more. d) end up staying there the whole night For this bar, I’d have to probably answer a or b. I’m after a c or d type of place and it just doesn’t happen for me here(key words: for me). I’m sure u can get wild and crazy at times Bar 4, but I don’t want you to change, ok. Stay just the way you are. There are people out there that would be lucky to have a bar like you. And when they find you, it’s gonna be magical. I know a few my friends might say i’m crazy for passing you up, but I have to say goodbye. Stay strong… and hey, who knows, maybe in a couple of years i’ll be different and drop by sometime. (im not gonna drop by)

Bar 4 is a nice little friendly neighbourhood bar in Park Slope with a stage area for local musicians to showcase their talents. The staff and patrons are friendly, and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. I came to Bar 4 to watch Brooklyn-based musician Hee Young play a set. While the drinks they offer are not atypical, the warmth of this bar and the fact that there’s live music definitely makes me want to give them four stars.

Had a great time on a Tuesday night with open mic. Nice mix of entertainment with a comedian, serious guitarist, guy and girl piano/guitar combo, and a solo lady singer/songwriter. Small space but comfortable couches. Notes: Drinks are slightly expensive(or I just don’t know how much things should cost in park slope) but this is offset by the entertainment from open mic with no cover.

Pickle flavored cocktails, stiff, cheap drinks, photo booth, and foosball. Really, what more can you want? An unpretentious place to chill among friends and locals and make new friends, this bar is super cool. Perhaps it’s because I was there on a Friday night, but hearing top 40s music blasting out loud was sorta random and unexpected. Granted, top 40s is cool to listen to, but I was expecting more indie/old school mix. Note to those who haven’t used their photo booth: the place to insert money is hard to find. Look at the bottom underneath to see a little slit to insert cash.

Live music is a plus at any bar. But for me to make it my home away from home, I need Wi-Fi. Sadly, Bar4 has none. And the pickled stuffed animals kinda freak me out.

For some reason, every time I’m here I end up drunkenly swing dancing… so that says a lot. This bar has many wonderful features: — a stage where they host battle-of-the-bands and random shows — a large Persian rug on that stage, which always turns me on for some reason. — comfy couches– it feels like your living room… with more tequila. — FOOSBALL!!! — a little smoker’s patio off to the side, with yet another comfy couch… which is kinda gross if you think about it, but don’t think about it. — An bartender named Rich who exudes good vibes. — Picklebacks I’ll see you soon Bar 4! I’ll be the one attempting to dip an unwitting and unwilling friend to the tune of something that is not swing music.

I’m so glad Bar4 exists. It’s one of those local places where there’s something going on every night. A great place to catch a show, open mic, band, karaōke, etc. The comedy nights on Sundays(Yannis’ show) are always great. Bartenders are nice, and drinks are cheap with some creative cocktail options. A very cool place. Why not the 5th star? Perhaps I’m getting old, but I’ve been there a few times where there’s been less than 15 people in the whole place, yet the band/music/sound(live music) is blaring out onto the sidewalk — not sure if it’s completely necessary and it makes it difficult to have a conversation.

From the outside, Bar 4 looks dubious as hell. The place is dark and there is always a bunch of people smoking outside… but come inside, and you will be pleasantly surprised! The darkness turns out to be sexy candles and dim incandescent bulbs. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders are very friendly. Bar 4 is great if you live nearby and are looking for live music and a chill night.

I’ve been going to Bar 4 for years and its really gone downhill recently. I really used to enjoy this place, great vibe, great music and great bartenders. After I moved off of 7th ave, I frequented this place a bit less and the last time I went was completely horrible. First off the staff was so bad. They literally just stood behind the bar talking to each other and ignoring all the patrons, specifically the short blonde bartender. I always tip about $ 5 a drink when I go here because of our history with the place, but apparently that wasn’t enough to get her attention. On top of that it was my birthday and we brought 25 people to an otherwise empty place. I suppose they aren’t used to serving more than 10 people at a time… The music was incredibly boring and down tempo, Its 2am on a Saturday night… people are drunk play something fun! Bad music means a bad vibe, most people looked pretty bored. I almost feel bad giving this place a negative review after I’ve had so many positive experiences here in the past. If they would get some decent bartenders and play a few decent songs this place could be just as I remembered it, fun. Stay away from blonde bartender, tipping won’t help you at all.

Went here for a 30th birthday party, it’s a small spot that has live music but we were there for the laid back vibe and the foosball table. Bathrooms smell pretty bad and there was a stench of bleach last night which prevents the 5 star rating, otherwise a cool spot to check out

I have yet to figure this place out. It’s the closest bar to where I lay my head, so one would think it’d be my go-to. And, truth be told, I have stumbled here on a few occasions, against my better judgment, out of pure convenience. But I feel that Bar 4 has this chameleon-like quality about it and I’m never sure what to expect until I walk through the front door. Three instances here should give you an idea of what I’m getting at: 1) Entered a packed Bar 4 and was suddenly subjected to amateur cabaret acts complete with trench coats and booby tassels. 2) Conversed extensively with some English bloke who had followed a girl across the pond to Brooklyn, subsequently parted ways with her once here, had been homeless living on random rooftops, and was downing $ 6 pints as he attempted to come up with a game plan to get back home. 3) On a low-key night, threw back a few cold ones with the girlfriend on their comfy couches and shelled out a few bills for the photo booth in the back — the black-and-white four-pic strip now hangs on my fridge. Together, these visits run the gamut of normalcy, tales of transatlanticism, and the straight-up bizarre. I wouldn’t call Bar 4 a place with an identity crisis, however. Maybe schizophrenia is more accurate. I remain intrigued and will stumble here time and time again, I’m sure. Until then, I can only make the conclusion that while Bar 4 may be a lot of things, the one thing it can’t lay claim to is predictability.
