Went there for the lunch. Usually dine in at an Indian restuarant leaves you stuffed, but I left unsatisfied. Food was a little better than average Indian(which is always delicious) but felt like there was so little of it.

Two friends and myself went here on Sunday and although we spent a little longer than anticipated here, I had a great time. They were extremely busy and seemed to be understaffed so the wait made sense. The food was delicious. Lamb Rogan Josh, with rice, garlic naan, and a soda for $ 16. And we were given free mango smoothies for our wait. The place is very small, but I found it cozy. If I’m in the neighborhood again I will definitely recommend return.

My friend and I went to lunch here. There was a sign outside that said 50% off lunch 12−4pm. However that offer was not clearly communicated. The waiter gave us two menus and didn’t specify that one menu did not qualify for the deal. He was really confusing and didn’t explain it well. The bill came and I was really annoyed that to our surprise our food did not get 50% off. I felt like he pulled a fast one hoping we wouldn’t notice. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce tasted like it was made with the same tomato concentrate from spaghetti O’s and the chicken was overcooked. The Veggie Pakora and the Mango Lassi was decent but not worth another trip. The place is ugly with floor to ceiling tile and had to provide space heaters to keep customers warm.

Please note that this review is based on a single delivery order, but for all you Park Slopers who think Indian Spice is all that, I beg you to try Bay Leaf: people, this is REAL Indian food. Ordered using the EAT24 app. Delivery was relatively quick given that Bay Leaf is on the other side of the park — I’ve had places 3 blocks away take longer. The delivery person was really nice. I always want to test a new Indian restaurant against tried and true dishes that I also make myself, so we ordered chicken tikka, shrimp vindaloo and bindi masala. The tikka was tender and flavorful. I was pleased that the marinade was spicy, which is how I was taught to make it but very rarely find in restaurant food. The vindaloo was excellent: I ordered it very spicy and it was. The shrimps were firm and there was a good amount of vinegar and cinnamon. Such a pleasure to get an honestly flavored dish that tasted home-made. However it could have used a little more potato to sop up the yummy sauce. The bindi was good but I prefer mine dry-cooked with more ginger and onion and this version was saucy. Again, the flavors were homey and the spice level was as requested. The accompanying basmati rice was well cooked and had a nice touch of ghee. Forgot to order bread — doh! The downside of on-line ordering I guess. However I will definitely be ordering again so I can try some of the other dishes.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in a while. The manager was very friendly –gave us a complementary mango lassi that was very fresh. The navarti koma was absolutely delicious. It had a hearty homemade comfort taste/feel to it. Like you ate something wholesome. All this considering it is a family that prepares all the dishes from scratch. The décor was very nicely done and was very clean. Will be stopping by again.

Fellow supporters of delicious, family owned places– eat here! The food is all homemade and incredibly good. Byob and wifi are a nice touch. Chicken korma is really good. I think they add grapes which is surprisingly delicious. The waiter is very sweet and friendly too.

Everytime I order take home the food is ready within 10 minutes and I even get a Mango Lassi to drink while waiting. My favorite is the eggplant dish… And I love the naan bread too.

Ate in here a few days ago — and everything was delicious. Granted, the waiter(owner?) was not particularly charming, but I can’t say I care — I’m not there for his personality. The food was excellent — incredibly fluffy, fresh, warm naan, very flavorful chicken, and a very good shrimp curry. I will definitely go back.

Small intimate restaurant. U can either do take out or sit in.(Sitting in is cheaper) the menu has a lot of different Indian dishes. Very reasonable in price.

Absolutely the worst restaurant experience I’ve had as long as I can remember. The place smelled of burned oil as soon as we entered. I foolishly assumed that they burned something in the kitchen. The reality is that they never change their oil. I felt ill shortly after eating and still feel awful the next morning. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Stop in and ate. The MOST terrible service. and the short older Indian guy had thr nastiest attitude. Our appetizers took well over 30 mins. the food is good. just stick to take out or delivery

Tikka Masala tasted like chicken in tomato soup. Basmati rice was hardened, and the naan was a no. Service was somewhere between rude and clueless, and the chef came out when we entered and literally told me to hurry up because he was making«his dinner too.» As in what? You’re just cooking our scraps?

I had no idea Indian food could be so bland. I have the chicken tikka masala and it tasted like tomato paste. There was barely any chicken in there. And the sauces were flavorless too. It was a very disappointing meal.

These reviews confuse me. But I had the chicken tikka masala the other day and I was extremely disappointed. The rice was stale and the sauce tasted like ketchup and water. I have never had tikka masala Tate this bad EVER! And all the chutneys were runny like water. Idk if they are diluting them to save money but all around just tacky. It sucks cause they are right next to me and they always have lunch specials so I was going to make this a regular spot cause I love Indian food but it’s not worth it at all.

Hmm… I think they are under new managemnt. The person that took my order over the phone sounded like a child. Very polite and professional but very young. I thought that it must be a teenager. To my surprise, the delivery person was that very person… a girl of about 10… maybe 11. Anyway. there were no issues there… she took and delivered the order just fine. That being said, the issue was the food… The food that was delivered to me last night was not the Bay Leaf fare that I expected. It has been a few months and apparently there have been major changes. The samosas were smaller and the mixed vegetable curry was not mixed vegtable curry. 90% carrots and missing curry. The red sauce was comprised of Indian spices but not one was curry. And nope it was not red curry either. I know curry. The chicken and onion fritters were okay but they are just appetizers. I didn’t feel that my $ 29 plus tip was well spent… at all! Food should be an experience not a disspointment. I am tossing out the menu and will go back to Gandhi Fine Indian Cuisine on Bedford.

I ordered food through Seamless. The food was horrendous. The chicken tikka masala was the worst: over buttered tasteless red sauce containing cubes of stale chicken. The lamb appetizer was inedible, which was very hard and fibrous. The rice lost all its softness and was dehydrated. Perhaps this was a one time experience. They don’t get a second chance from me. Eat at your own risk.

HOOOOORIBLE, drenched oil is more like it than channa puri, the channa never showed up, had to phone and get it ove and they charged an extra 3.00 $, the tamer in sauce was empty at bottom of bag. Tikka masala, chicken was all the fat of chicken, was slimy. My second bad experience, should have learned from first time and all the low reviews. But no, thought I would take a chane. Waste of money, foolish me!

So I’ve been ordering from Bayleaf for a few years now and tonight, enough is enough. I live in Windsor Terrace and to be honest, I can’t be overly fussy with delivery in my neighborhood but I’ve dealt with deliveries that have taken 2 – 3 hours with the excuse that delivery persons have been lost(I live in a very common area…), bikes have broken down, etc etc. It seems every other time I order from them someone is lost or takes at least 1.5 hours(in a 40 – 55 minute window) and I order from them about once a week. Tonight was the breaking point when my delivery took 2 hours and 7 minutes and my food arrived cold and completely sub par. It’s like my Tikka Masala was cooked with ketchup. Barely edible I cannot stand this abusive relationship anymore. If you have other Indian food options, use them. It’s not worth the hassle.

Went there this weekend. Presented the 15% discount from Unilocal app and the waiter(owner) did not honor it. He said«I don’t know what is that bullshit». I will not be coming back, probably should of went to King of Tandoor instead.

Friday night and I am hungry! Looked up some delivery and remember my roommate, who loves Indian food, saying that Bayleaf was good. Luckily they were still open and delivering! Ordered«Chicken Tikka Masala» and«Naan». It was delivered pretty quickly and the delivery guy was nice — always a plus. The ‘Chicken Tikka Masala’ was delicious. It had a delicious sauce that I — literally — ate all of. It also had a good amount of chicken, that was thankfully not dry. The sauce was sweet enough and also had a little spice behind each bite which was nice. The ‘naan’ was big and still warm. It had a nice char on it — used it to soak up the delicious sauce, and pour over the rice(which was also cooked really, well, no hard pieces or anything like that.) Overall it was a fast, friendly, delivery that tastes great and had portions that left me full — even with just ordering Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice, and Naan.($ 15, plus tip.) Will I order again? Yes.(often) **NOTE: This review is based on only trying Bayleaf once — via Delivery.(GrubHub) If anything changes in the next few tries — gets better, or worse, I will update this review accordingly.**
