BUSINESSISCLOSED. ;-( even though there is an option there on the Business Info, I don’t see it pop up prominently under the name entry. Sad. I had a great meal here and loved the plant/vine wall decoration. The ribs just fell off the bone and were delicious. I will hold all subsequent ribs to my Beso ribs. Alas! They have closed.

Great food, great service… unfortunately they’ve been closed a lot lately. Not sure why.

Was surprised by the sight of the crowd standing outside as my friend and I sat and chewed our mediocre food. Yuca hash browns were burnt and dry, the empanada with egg and spinach tasted like it had just been in the microwave, and I think the juice would have been better from a can… oh wait, it probably was from a can. Expect to do a lot of neck-craning…looking for that elusive server who never comes. I suggest grabbing some menus on your way in(or at least I found that it was a lot faster than waiting for them). Maybe if they had a hostess instead of a poor harried waitress doing double duty, I would have felt better about the whole brunch experience. At least the space was cool, sorta.

Great for brunch or late night dining. South American food. Exotic fresh squeezed juices and cocktails. Exotic entrees– nothing ordinary. Yucca served with almost everything– it is delicious way better than hash browns. Huge portions, colorful interior and friendly staff.

I was definitely impressed with the brunch experience here. Tons of selections, friendly service, nice sized portions. The atmosphere is also very funky and fun. I’d go back!

So this place has bittersweet chocolate french toast and coconut pancakes. Holy mother of all things delicious. I didn’t actually order those, but that was enough to convince me to go in and sit down already(next time, pancakes, next time…). I ended up opting for the Grilled Ancho Chili-Crusted Trout, served with lime hollandaise and 2 eggs, not to mention a generous slab of fried yucca. This also came with coffee and juice. Of the juice, I had mango, of which it was thick and sweet, more in the style of the nectars you find these days. And so! All of the above was ordered off the regular menu. Many of the specials our waiter informed us of were equally as tempting, especially the drink special — fresh squeezed strawberry juice topped with a generous pour of cream of coconut. It sounded amazing, but we passed. I was feebly trying to delay my death by self-induced heart attack, and I already knew the fried yucca was on its way. Then lo and behold! Our waiter sent out the drink special anyway, as he said we had to try it. Obviously, we did as instructed. Obviously, it tasted exactly like a fresh strawberry coconut milkshake and I sucked it right down to the bottom. Then the food arrived. Firstly, they fry things really well. There is nothing more disappointing than food that is badly fried — it not only is bad for the body, it is bad for the soul. But this yucca, oh my. Bad for body? Probably. Bad for soul? Nooooo. My soul was thriving with this stuff. The fish was well seasoned and delightfully tender, and the hollandaise made for a perfect dollop upon the towers of yucca and fish I carefully constructed only to masticate seconds later. Mwa hahahaaaaa. After stuffing ourselves silly(my dining companion had the three egg omelet, and they did an egg white substitution for her, with a side salad. She seemed to enjoy it, but I was too busy with my yucca to ask and compare), we thought we couldn’t possibly fit another thing in. However, we were wrong. Our Waiter of Greatness presented us with a tres leche cake(out of nowhere! It was like magic!), and you can’t say no to magical tres leches. I have no idea what exactly was in that thing(okay, yes, some sort of three milk somethingerother), but as far as I can tell it was coconut and maybe some dense other matter held together with sweetened condensed milk with cream of coconut poured generously over the top. I have quite honestly not had a dessert that satisfying in quite a long time. All I can say is that by the time we rolled out of there, my food baby looked about 8 months along, and that food baby was definitely a love child. Beso, I give you five big smooches right back.

Only been for brunch — but it was super-delicious. Had a great chorizo omelet with yucca hash browns, but everything I saw looked awesome. At some point, I will make it back for dinner. At some point.

I’ve only been here for brunch. Fantastic café con leche. Really great. Only Bonita has better.(Otherwise go to Las Brisas on Broadway in Manhattan.) The brunches are amazing — they have a huge variety for every type of palate. They’re a little heavy on the chorizo for my leanings, but there is a lot of avocado and they use cilantro as it should be used! Mmmmmm. Highly recommended! Huevos Rancheros will never be good enough for me after Mexico, but they came really close here. I’ve heard the dinners are really spotty, and since it’s usually empty for dinner, I guess that’s true.

This is a frequent weekend brunch spot for my boyfriend and me when we’re meeting up with a couple of other people. It can accommodate small groups really well and the food is good and different. I usually get the pork sandwich. Yum everytime. Also, great coffee. And juice. Not your boring OJ, either. Tropical blends that are refreshing. And though there is sometimes a short wait, I never feel rushed once I’m seated. Great for a change of pace.

i headed here after a hellish day of work for a long, leisurely dinner with a friend. i had heard rave reviews from other friends(sorry, not Unilocalers), expecting there to be a long wait. i arrived to a ¾ empty restaurant with tacky-chic décor at 8:45PM and, ironically, i grew somewhat concerned that I didn’t have to fight for a table as i do with other supposedly yummy NY eateries. needless to say, my fears were assuaged with the cheese pancake-like croquettes that were waiting for me, all warm and delish, at the table. I opened my menu to find some of the most enticing-sounding entrees like plantain-crusted mahi mahi and pumpkin seed crusted trout. however, i ordered the special — catfish covered with an onion salsa and cilantro rice — with a guava mimosa. SOOFRIGGINGGOOD. the entrée was a decent size(and by decent i mean gi-normous). and i ate the whole thing. if they hadn’t pried the plate from my hands, i could have licked the plate. and it was cheap: my meal came out to 29 with tax and tip. not bad for a friday night.

The food is good and served in horrifically large portions. More than any reasonable human could possibly eat in one sitting. It is tasty though, and the service is good enough, but not spectacular. They also give you a tasty cookie with your giant bowl of café con leche.

I went here for Brooklyn restaurant week quite by accident after Blue Ribbon and BR sushi each had hour plus waits at 9:30 pm. Beso was cute, the doors were up and it was warm and the server and bartender were really attentive. We started out with a blackberry margarita and a beer. The margarita was fantastic. It was really tart and paired well with the tequila and was missing some of the sickly sweetness of fruit-flavored margaritas. So drinkable, and at $ 5 a pop, pretty easy on the wallet, too. The restaurant week menu did not feel like a second-class citizen version of the restaurant(always a RW concern!). There was so much food that doggie bags were needed and parts of dessert leftover. The jamaican lamb patties with mint mojo sauce was a perfect starter and the mushroom quinoa soup was tasty and like a mexican beef barley. The complimentary arepas with roasted red pepper cream were a hit, as well! For entrees, the steak was plentiful and cooked perfectly and the fish tostada had three large pieces of fish stacked high. To end the meal, café con leche flan and chocolate crème catalan with churros hit the spot. I will definitely be back sometime soon, possibly for brunch after reading all the yummy reviews!

Well, I took my hunny here the other day for Sunday brunch, and I’m sure we’ll go back again. We were seated quickly when we arrived(around 10:30), but beware there was a huge rush not long after. We split the Cuban sandwich(ham, pork, cheese and pickles on a Cuban roll) and an order of chocolate-stuffed french toast. The sandwich was very good and came with seasoned yucca fries. Take it from this gringa, delicious! The french toast was absolutely amazing, but I would recommend sharing it with someone else because of its shear size and decadence. The waitstaff was very young and after we got our food, it was extremely difficult to get thier attention again(the women at the next table over had the same problem). The meals themselves were a little on the pricey side, but the portions were good and they came with coffee or tea AND your choice of juice. all in all, good show. do it.

I’ve been a couple of time for brunch in the past year and a half and have always thoroughly enjoyed the experience – the wait is never as long as I expect it to be, both coffee and a tropical fruit juice of your choice come with your entrée, and all the dishes I’ve ordered or sampled from my fellow diners have been delish – especially the aroz con leche pancakes. Yes, the chocolate stuffed french toast is «too much” – even for this chocolate-for-breakfast loving girl – i’d only order it if i were going to share this and a savory dish too with a friend for balance. I also finally got around to trying dinner at Beso last week and was pleased then too – our server was attentive(though i guess he had to be – there were only two other occupied tables in the place at the time) and the food was very satisfying. I loved my plantain crusted mahi mahi and(yummmmmm) fried yucca chips. Kudos on the sangria as well.

Beso is one of those rare restaurants for which I’d rearrange my weekend to make sure I’d have either brunch or dinner there. The food is perfect, creative Cuban-ish gems. The service is fantastic — the staff acts like they own the place and interact with customers in a Park Slope pitch-perfect way, if you know what I mean. Regarding menu, Christy V. is totally right. The only addition I’d make is the Skirt Steak — SO yummy with a mind-blowing cheddar au gratin.

This restaurant is awesome for brunch. I had the Latin Eggs Benedict, which comes with coffee and a small juice(either orange, mango, or guava juice). The mixture of the not-too-heavy hollandaise sauce, the well-poached eggs, and the chorizo sausage is absolutely FABULOUS. But it was the yucca hash browns that sealed the deal. An avid hash brown connoisseur, I found these hash browns surprisingly delightful.

Really deliciously evil brunch. Not a light thing on the menu, and all things so tasty and filling. If you are looking for an egg white omelet with a salad, this is probably not the best place to go. Everything contains yucca, which is just a beautiful thing. My friend had a cactus juice mimosa. Uh, awesome. I will certainly be back for more taste sensations. Can’t wait to try dinner.

great pan dulce french toast. or get the chocolate stuffed french toast if they have it. It’s incredible! Just be wary of ordering too much. That french toast is thick and filling. I’ve been there for brunch a couple of times, and whiel it’s a good deal and teh food is pretty good, I can never quite feel comfortable there. It’s pretty cramped and busy. The first time we had a hard time getting our juice and coffee, the second time tour waiter was great, but the hostess was rushing us out. She would come back every 5 minutes when I was obviously still eating and would aski if I was done. Just ended up packing my food to go. The other thing is each time I go, I end up kind of sick. hmm… but the pan dulce is worth it.

I have to admit that I’ve only ever had brunch at Beso — but many brunches, and I’ve loved them all. The Latin American twist pairs eggs benedict with chorizo and yuca english muffins and french toast with creamy dulce de leche, which I absolutely love. A crunchy, thin arepa graces every plate and yummy guava, mango and pineapple juices are included in the brunch meal, along with a delicious bowl of café con leche or regular coffee or tea. On nice days(like today — finally!), they roll up the front window and you feel like you’re eating outside. Definitely a winner! Update: I’ve had dinner here now and it was equally delicious and not crowded at all. Innovative food menu, boring wine list.
