Brewery Recording Studio

The Brewery is one of my favorite studios in town. The environment is welcoming and comfortable, the staff know their craft, and they have a very solid line up of equipment. There isn’t much more I could ask for when I’m looking to actualize an idea. Sometimes the guys here have BBQs and events which is always a good time too. I love this place! :)

I have never been to the studio, but I have had a lot of music mixed and mastered from their engineers. They do excellent work!!! Anyone that is looking for a great industry sound, definitely hit these guys up

Full disclosure: I’m not a recording artist. I mean, I totally COULD be but why make it harder for those who are struggling to make it with my exceptional natural abilities right? That’s just mean.
Anyway, I’ve used the studio as an event space and photo studio more than a few times in the past few years and am planning an event there in the upcoming weeks. I love the staff here. Everyone is beyond friendly and from the looks of the clientele –Raekwon, Method Man, OFWGKTA (NBD, right?) are some that I’ve run into — they definitely know their s**t.
Just off the Grand Ave stop on the L, the location seems a bit desolate at first glance. However, there are some really amazing food options just across Bushwick Ave in case your band has a (rare!) case of the munchies. Il Passatore, Tuffet, Hachi, and yes, Crown Fried Chicken (it’s delicious, don’t even play yourself) are my favorite post-​Brewery haunts and a short hop across Bushwick Ave.
Among the other studios I’ve been to (Avatar, Daddy’s House, etc) the thing that sets the Brewery apart is the definitely the ambience. I’m sure it has a lot to do with the fact that the owner, Andrew Krivonos, designed and built the space out himself from the ground up and constantly updates the awesome décor. What do I mean by awesome? There is a leather top reception desk. Cmon, say it with me… BAW$E. Feels good, don’t it? Other things that make me feel bawsey include the swing stopper glass bottles they serve my water in, the stocked bar, and the patio/​grill setup on the roof. Seriously, I’m expecting a BBQ invite from Method Man any day now.

I use to record (hip-​hop) at a studio around Penn Station in the city, but since my engineer went on tour, I’ve been scrambling to find a cool vibe spot where I can record and get solid quality — something I can bring back home and is worth listening to. I’ve been at studios that have great equipment and boasts top notch production.
What good is the equipment with all these plug-​ins, amps, software, etc. if the engineer can’t bring your sounds the way you envision? It’s like that feeling I get seeing people who can’t drive in a nice luxury/​expensive car. Well, I hope you got the analogy, but basically what I’m saying is that the Brewery is official. One of the few spots that can give you something to look forward to listening to when you get home (granted you finish your session before leaving). Some studios you go to simple record your vocals and call it a day. Others don’t make you feel comfortable recording. But the Brewery isn’t either of them.
The area isn’t crazy like Manhattan, and the place itself is very well put together. They offer beverages, and boast a nice iso-​booth to record. Trying to book a session might get hectic, but nevertheless, its one of the few studio gems that Brooklyn has to offer.
The price is kind of expensive, but I never complain if the service matches it. Plus, they have off-​peak rates that you can definitely take advantage of. I plan to make this one of my go-​to places for all my music endeavors.

For some, summer kicks off on memorial day weekend. For me, it’s Brewery’s anniversary party.
The studio, located on Grand Street, by my zone high school, where I spoke as salutatorian at my junior high school (just to give you a perspective and point of reference) will be celebrating its second anniversary (and third celebratorial party, because we party in advance, amiright?).
Though it’s only been in business for 2 years, the studio is constantly renovating and updating its décor and equipment. The owner, Andrew, is serious about his business and has upstanding work ethic and is constantly looking to improve his business. But also personable and does a lot of sessions himself.
This is a great place for local artists looking to record and create music, located right by the L train and is convenient for aspiring musicians (i’m not saying musicians stereotypically live by the L train, but I’m saying, if it’s the case, you know where to holla).
Additionally, the studio has hosted artists like, Methodman and Raekwon, which is inspiration for an artist recording in any genre. Who knows, you could bump into Ghostface next, I mean, I’m trying to, you know?
