If I could give this place 0 stars based purely on customer service I would. But their craftsmanship deserves 5 stars. I emailed Joe before hand telling him we were in town from Los Angeles. As suggested I emailed the shop before heading over. He told me that they would be there until 6ish minimum. Before I left I emailed him again telling him that we were on our way. Not too mention we left work early and took a cab from Manhattan to make sure I would arrive early. I arrive there at 5:30 only to find out there was no one there. This is how they treat customers knowing that we were only in town briefly. To have trekked all the way out here for nothing is beyond a disappointment. FYI they have no working phone number. And also, their address is NOT16 Powers Street but 324 Stagg Street.

You get what you pay for. Amazing, professional bikes for serious riders. This is the real deal. Pretty much hand made frames and custom made racing bikes. This bikes sell all over the world for a premium. The place on Powers is not a store front. Go on their web site and you’ll see what I mean.

about a year ago i was in need of new pedals for my jump/park bike, scott voltage yz.0 ltd. the pedals that i had been using made use a fairly simple, if not annoying, process to switch out traction pegs. what made it most annoying was the frequency with which they needed to be replaced. case landing with sketchy foot placement? yep, at least one of the little bastards would have rolled over on itself. enter brooklyn machine works and their shinburger pedals. nothing to replace, ever. these are probably the most robust pedals i have seen for a mountain bike. CNCed from one billet of aluminum stock. since my purchase bmw has released a new shinburger, dubbed the shinburger veggie. 3d milled for reduced weight. one thing, if you havent invested in a pair of shin guards they are a must if you plan to ride with either of these pedals. maybe not if you plan to use yours on a townie… but any kind of jumping requires them. the only thing that keeps them from getting five stars is that i am not a big fan of their frames. there are more efficient FS linkage designs than their race link frame. also, for $ 600 the park bike frame just isnt singularly focused enough for me. for it to be a true park bike it needs a shorter chainstay and a slacker head tube angle. granted the later is dependent on fork selection, but who wants to use a fork with more than 130 mm of travel for jumping?
