i seriously LOVE this place. I think i’m actually addicted to their food! If I had my way, I would order their food everyday at work. The price is right, the portions are good, the taste is excellent. Even my friend(who is a very picky eater) loves and enjoys their food.

Meh. Atmosphere was nice, and parking wasn’t too hard to find. I was here to meet up with a friend and it was a good low key and cheap spot to hang for a bit. The tacos were ok. I had the carne asada and pollo tacos. Both were ok but could have used some more flavor. You get what you pay for though– at least it’s a low key, cool place to sit and chat. Beers are available here too, but don’t expect cocktails or margs.

The food is great. The new girl working the counter is rude. We order out less because of her. Hopefully one day we’ll be able to order food without feeling like we’re imposing.

One of my go-to spots for grabbing food. I’m a fan of their nachos, which are a huge portion and a meal by itself. Tons of toppings, plus actual cheese sauce instead of just melted cheese. You can top it with your choice of protein, but honestly even the meatless version is super filling. Also started ordering their rolled quesadillas, which pretty much make two meals for me, luckily they reheat and taste just as good the next day. I like how they wrap it in like a burrito and toast it lightly crispy. And the crack sauce is pretty addicting. I’ve also tried their tacos and they are definitely solid, but not the highlight for me. Service is kind of on the slow side. One time when I was there I waited half an hour(after being quoted a 15 min wait time). They also tend to be a little unobservant. A couple times the guy behind the counter has skipped over me to help others who came later(to be fair, in one instance the lady was staring quite aggressively at him, can we say creepy??). But I’ve found that ordering online helps alleviate that.

So delicious and cheap. Excellent folks working behind the counter with great recommendations. I wish I lived closer to one!

I’m a regular at this Calexico. The food isn’t too expensive but I wouldn’t call it cheap, it’s right for what you are getting — tasty food! The counter staff is always friendly and they don’t make mistakes with take out. Food for pick up is prepared quickly(10 – 15 mins most of the time). Highly recommended!

This place is like chipotle but better! I got their burritos and it was delicious because they toasted it. I also tried their tacos which was flavorful. Oh and I absolutely recommend their corn on a cob which is filled with cheese, cilantros, etc.

I was ready to give this place 3 – 4 stars because the tacos aren’t a typical cheap Mexican taco shop price, but that’s because these aren’t typical small tacos! They were big and delicious! Two is all you need. I also tried the quesadilla, which I NEVER get from Mexican/Tex Mex eateries, but this one was the BEST quesadilla… ever. It will be so hard not to get EVERYTIME. The cheese was so melty, the onion so gently sweet, and the steak… the steak is sublime. Andale! Andale! You should already be there now!

Love this place! I’ve had a few things here but my favorite, by far, is their grits with pork. Creamy with bits of corn and cilantro. I never liked grits till I tried these. When I ask my sons if they want to go to Brooklyn with us they say no till they find out we’re stopping here then they love to come along shopping with us. Delicious, great selection and inexpensive. Wish they served these on their cart which is a lot closer to me.

I have been coming here for the past few months, even when I wasn’t a vegan, and it still blows my mind every time. My mom just ordered the«lunch box» which consists of 2 soft tacos of your choice(she got chicken and brisket), chips and guac, and a side of rice, beans and pico de gallo. I got a half black half refried bean burrito with extra cilantro and no cheese, sour cream or crack sauce(it has mayo in it). My burrito was so delicious I had to stop in the middle of my meal to write this review. If I was sitting in a bathtub of their guac, I still do not think I would be surrounded by enough of it. It’s fantastic. Definitely check this place! I will be returning here many times in the future

Pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this place. I was expecting to get the taco bell taste at champagne prices but actually got close-to-mexican flavors. Cheap, fast, and the service was really friendly. Recommended: Chipotle pork tacos and the spicy peanuts by the counter.

I’d only been to the 5th avenue Calexico before, so I thought I’d give the«Red Hook» location a shot. I was initially disappointed that they didn’t have the fish tacos on their menu board, but was told that it was available. They should really do something about that. So I ordered that, a side of nachos, and their special taco of the day, which was the pollo verde(chicken with green sauce). We wanted it to go, and they quoted us 15 minutes. It actually ended up being half an hour. Luckily, there was room to sit and it was air conditioned, but still a kinda crappy experience. Especially because we were hungry. The food was good though. The fish tacos are still my favorite. The nachos are heavy as all hell though, and you get a crap ton of them.

Amazing tacos, and really trendy. Straight forward service, and lots of parking nearby. Seems like a neighborhood go to.

Food was cold when I got it although it did taste good the crack sauce is over rated and taste like a salad dressing. For the price you can’t go wrong just make sure to pick up your food

I’m no expert on Mexican food, but I really enjoy eating it… and I loved this. The carne asada burrito was delicious and packed with big chunks of beef. It was a little different to what I’ve come to expect from some, but the avocado sauce really added a special something.

Chipotle pork burrito was amazing. Union salad was an almost perfect bite but needed a little acid — ask for lime. Hibiscus drink the perfect complement. All thumbs up.

Man, this place is awesome! Their bowls are delicious(I had pollo asado, minus the rice) and I tried a bit of my friend’s pollo asado quesadilla which was amazing. I love that you can come here and either be really unhealthy or really healthy; everybody’s happy! Since I was being healthy the day I came, I’ll have to come back and be unhealthy next time. Definitely looking forward to it ;)

One of the wonderful surprises walking around aimlessly in the city is to realize a place you really wanted to try has another location — and it’s right around the corner. This unexpected happiness happened with Calexico. The food brought me in and the $ 3 beer late night happy hour had me stay. Enjoyed one of those while waiting for my Carne Asada taco($ 4) and Pollo Asado quesadilla($ 8). I was skeptical because the price is higher than most Mexican food joints — but man was everything delicious. That crack sauce is a sweet and spicy punch to the tongue. And unlike other similar spots, I was considerably full after I finished, so cheers to that. They were unfortunately sold out of the Elote when I was there, so that’ll be on the«to-eat» list for my next trip.

That was one bangin cheese quesadilla, so good that I went back to the restaurant to order a second one. The cheese quesadilla has 3 cheeses in it. It has oaxacan, cheddar, and monterey jack. It was a good mix of cheeses. I wish they added more variety of cheese, but that’s just me. I like cheese. The more the better, but I might get a heart attack if there was more cheese. When you take bite out of it, the cheese is just oozing in your mouth. The toasted flour tortilla wasn’t soggy or oily. Just a perfect tortilla. The quesadilla comes with a side of chipotle crack sauce. That crack sauce goes well with the cheese quesadilla. Makes it even tastier and gives it a little kick to it. Service was really quick with my take out order. Fast and delicious. I definitely need to try out some other dishes on that menu.
