I saw Dr. La Batto for over a year and a half. He kept pressuring me to have a permanent bridge put in to replace my removable bridge — cost: ~$ 20,000 — a procedure that my previous dentist and periodontist in California had recommended against. He then performed deep cleanings three times, charging me approximately $ 275 per quadrant, something my previous dentist and periodontist had never done so frequently. He also proscribed a daily antibiotic which he said would help my gums. I eventually got suspicious about the repeated root cleanings and the constant pressure to get a permanent bridge and went to see a Manhattan periodontist for a second opinion. In short, he recommended against everything Dr. La Batto had suggested, even telling me to discontinue the daily antibiotic because it was doing me no good. The periodontist had his hygienist do a complete root cleaning for one fourth of what La Batto had charged me. La Batto was charging $ 1100 for what she did for $ 325! And he did it three times — at an out of pocket cost of $ 3300. After spending thousands on treatment from Dr. La Batto, I have no intention of returning to his care. He has a great sense of humor and he makes you feel at ease, but I am reluctant to trust the health of my teeth and gums to him.
