Claudine’s is a must visit restaurant for anyone who wants simple, perfectly prepared Italian food. As a Chef it’s very hard to go out to dinner and find places that deliver experiences that fulfill all the expectations we hope to find on a night out. From our introduction through service everything was on point. The server, three days into the job, was knowledgeable, polite and accomodating. Each dish was prepared with a touch that is hard to find. The food couldn’t have been prepared with more attention to detail. This was the best Italian food we have eaten in 15 or more years. It was even more of a treat to be able to share some photographs, with the owner Danielle, of the the build out taken three years prior on a walk past the location during a vacation to the area. Please take the opportunity to treat yourself. This restaurant is a gem.

Excellent Penne Vodka! Pasta done perfectly al dente and the sauce was spot on. Caesar, the pizza guy, was wonderful and very friendly. The place is dimly lit at night and I love that because it gives a better ambiance when your sitting at one of the tables with your date. Will definitely be back here soon to sample the pizza next time which I heard is awesome!

When searching on Unilocal there’s so many italian pizzerias in this area. Was craving some good thin crust pizza. The staff was so welcoming and nice, it was empty so we had the whole place to ourselves. Started off with the calamari e fungi salad which was so good I forgot to take a picture! The pizza was great but was slightly too crispy /burnt. But still amazing flavor. Would definitely go back here to try the daily specials.

Found this place on Unilocal an it’s a cute spot but with so much more potential. It’s small an cozy an very family orientated. Ok so I’ll start this step by step from my first time experience, Walked in with my family asked for a table for 4, I got seated right away we waited seriously for 10 minutes for menus. I was so aggravated I’m shocked at myself for not getting up an walking out esp since the bar was dead an there where only 2 tables there. The older women who was the only server kept walking past me an my family’s table over an over an over again. No eye contact, nothing not even a «please give me a second I’ll be right with you NOTHING» at all. Now I’m pissed but I already found parking my kids are hungry an there brick oven looks amazing I can only imagine what their pizza would taste like. So I finally got tired of biting my tongue an watching this women walk past me like I’m a fly on the wall. I said excuse me ma’me I’ve been waiting over 10 minutes an we still haven’t gotten a menu nor attention. She ran an grabbed menus, an asked if we wanted anything to drink well YATHINK?! I ordered drinks an a margarita pizza pie, the gentleman who was making the pizza looked very nice an friendly he smiled a few an said hello also had a gentleman move his chair so we can all fit at the table. bTw his pizza rocked very very good small but tasty. I would recommend a bit more zing to the pizza sauce the sauce was a bit bland. Very good though. So I ordered chicken franchise an I was assuming it came with pasta which it didn’t an honestly I’m glad it came with veggies an potatoes an I suddenly fell in love it was so amazing the flavor was perfect I had a lot of Chicken franchise from different places an this one is one of the best I’ve had. Great dish thank you. After all said an done the bill was ok not to bad for good quality food maybe 2 bucks over charged for Italian. The women who brought our food over was very nice an attentive she wasn’t a server she was the owner very friendly an I’m guessing she was the bartender as well which honestly I think is awesome I love seeing owners being hands on in their own business. Come to find out it is a family owned business an I respect it 100% an totally support. The details an designs are great in this cute spot I definitely will be coming back again an I hope you all do as well. Let’s just hope that the server found a new career she is good at bc serving is not her best. I think that’s the only downfall for them is service you need a awesome server with a spark of happiness welcoming love an joy. Thank you for great food.

Came here pretty late and still got serviced. It was the perfect fix, great brick oven pizza. You can grab a beer to accompany the yummi food. Enjoy!

Food was delicious. Chef was nice. First time we went, the waitress was awesome. Second time the waiter didn’t tell us the special dish of that day, was obviously in a bad mood, then he completely messed up our check by charging the wrong amount, and charging the one card twice. Would go again but avoid that waiter lol

This was most definitely one of the worst three dining experiences I’ve ever had(both in terms of food quality and service). Unilocal very rarely lets me down but you guys really dropped the ball on this one. My fiancé and I were so disappointed that at times we had to chuckle at the absurdity of it all. It all started with us really being in the mood for Italian and wanting to try a place in our neighborhood we hadn’t been to yet, in comes Claudine’s and their nice looking casual restaurant and solid 4 star rating. As we were walking into the empty restaurant I saw a specials board outside saying something about a chicken and scallop in a brown sauce(among a few other really good sounding dishes). As our waitress never mentioned any of the specials and they weren’t shown or described anywhere on our menu I asked about that particular dish and how it was prepared(is it grilled and tossed with pasta, fried with a couple sides, you know, some sort of description). Looking confused that I would ask such a thing she said she didn’t know and went to go check. Coming back a couple minutes later she said«it’s in a brown sauce». I decided I enjoyed chicken and scallops and brown things enough to gamble on it, especially considering their 4 star rating. The fiancé ordered a pasta with calamari in it and asked to add sausage to the dish. In a confused and judgmental tone the waitress said«you want seafood AND sausage?». Perhaps she already forgot the special I just ordered, that they came up with, was a combination of land and sea creatures, one may even say«surf and turf». The waitress asked if we wanted anything to drink, my fiancé ordered a glass of wine and I just asked for some water(which was not something they already provided). The wine came in one of the dirtiest(really only water spots, but still) glasses I’ve ever seen, even in my own home and I don’t even always use soap. As an appetizer we ordered meatballs(three to an order). The sauce was pretty good but in getting to the meatball, it was made of almost entirely bread and seasonings, I feel as though a vegetarian could have these without a problem. As an Italian version of a hush puppy it was fantasic, as a meatball it was a major fail. Onto the main dishes. My «brown sauce» was actually a tasteless white sauce that was something between a butter bath and a pasty alfredo sauce. The scallops were the smallest marble sized scallops with a weird tasteless mushy texture to them and as there were chunks of stuff in the sauce I can only guess they may have been battered and fried but all the batter just fell off of them. There was a couple pounded flat pieces of fried chicken breast, the same you would get in a chicken parm sandwich. On the side of the dish were a few unseasoned pieces of broccoli and carrots. My fiancé’s dish was less of a disappointment. She said the sausage was fine and the pasta was cooked perfectly, the calamari on the other hand were little tiny little rubber bands she mostly pushed aside. We came very hungry and neither of us finished our meals and not because we were full. We were never checked on during the meal and after finishing and sitting at our table patiently for some time I turned around to see where our waitress was. She was at a corner table in the back with her back toward us eating a meal hanging out with a group of the staff and friends. The only reasons I’m not giving them 1 star by the way is because the red sauce was decent, the pasta was cooked well, they take credit cards, and they have a nice looking spacious restaurant in a convenient location. Needless to say I will not be coming back and onto my top 10 list of worst meals, Claudine has taken their spot on the podium for sure.

This neighborhood has so much good, old-school, generous Italian food, but Claudine’s has become a standout/personal favorite even among that crowd. The pizza is perfectly fine, but that’s not the thing to do here, in my humble opinion. I think you’re better off enjoying the plethora of fine dishes — from appetizers to pastas and on — that they have. The eggplant parm here is, for instance, divine. The various polenta items are all excellent. The cavatelli primavera is perhaps the only pasta dish I’ve ever known my girlfriend to crave. The house wines are also tasty and reasonably priced. There’s nothing to dislike. The service is always friendly and prompt and the space is cozy — perfect for late summer and early fall evenings.(Fun side story: On one of my many numerous visits here, for instance, I happened to be seated next to an active NFL player who struck up a conversation us — and bought us drinks — before talking about his pending investments in wineries. Yeah, pretty awesome.)

The menu is great and offers just about anything you’d want in the Italian realm but nothing left us wanting to come back. Everything was executed just okay. We sat outside in their garden which was nice but has absolutely no atmosphere. Our group also thought it was very odd that it was completely empty on a Friday night. Oh well. There are too many other Italian spots in Brooklyn to come back again.

I hate rating this place a mere 3 stars, because I was hoping for a solid 5 star meal. Wandered here, after realizing Lucali opens past 6:00, and not wanting to wait over 3 hours, I scurried to find a place and Claudine’s was near and open, however this was not the caliber of food I anticipated. The menu is great, abundant, and cleverly made to piqué interests. Thus we ordered a salad, two pizzas, and two polentas. The salad’s olives were 1,00 olives from a can(–1 star), however the salad was tasty enough. The veggie polenta was ok, the cut on the vegetables is a bit too harsh, not bad, just not refined in any way. The other polenta was done to accommodate me(vegetarian), bf(mushroom lover), and mum(who was craving sausage), so we were given a polenta with sauce, and 2 sides(one mushroom and one sausage) +1 star The sauce on that polenta was killer, and it was way tastier than the first. +1 star The service was great, our waiter was attentive, and accomodating! +1 star The pizzas were a tad of a disappointment. Firstly there is soooo much crust, not enough sauce or toppings, also the crust is so thin it becomes soggy and break apart. NOPE, NOT A GOODPIZZASIGN. :( Also the lack of sauce made for a super dry pizza and those canned olives killed me, yep present again on the pizza. For 14 for a personal pie, the venue can splurge and use some real olives. I get it, canned olives are cheap, and pre sliced, but they take away a lot of flavour and charm. I’d come back for the polenta, and perhaps a few other bites, but def not for pizza.

Great location, excellent food, impeccable dessert Very warm friendly atmosphere, staff is like eating at a family’s home, probably because it says family all the way ! Family owned, family runned buisness and they treat you as if you was part of their own every step of the way. Food was excellent, service was great the waiter tended to our every need and didn’t once forget to check on us. Make sure you save room for dessert Tiramisu was beyond words, the best I had in my whole 29 years of living. Overall experience was phenomenal and I will definitely be coming back !!!

Positive vibes all around at Claudine’s. It’s a family run spot, which is becoming more and more rare in NYC, so it was so great to experience. The place is named after the owner’s mother(who was working the bar) and his sister was our waitress(she was awesome, super friendly.) The post used to be their grandfather’s barber shop back in the day. Food was good and fresh, decently priced. Also they were playing some awesome jams(think early-mid 90s with a mix of Josh Grobin opera.) We had a great time, and I would recommend it as a nice date spot or just a casual dinner with friends. I would be happy to continue to support this awesome family-run business!

A true tribute to fine Italian cooking. Special is how I would describe this little jewel. The pizza was superb with perfect crust, taste and chew. The pasta dishes I had were cooked to perfection. Extremely friendly staff, a very friendly and a rustic Italian home feeling atmosphere with music and décor to match and a smart and comfortable layout where their is plenty of space for patrons to move around and a TV if needed that isn’t at eye level to not be a distraction. A rarity these days, this place has a fresh menu with unexpected flavors and with each bite you can easily tell that all ingredients are fresh and made to order with many choices to delight my palette. Nothing was overlooked for my dining experience on a Tuesday evening. 5 stars to the owners. Keep up the great work guys!

The food is great but the service is SOBAD which has ruined this place for me. I am not sure why they seem to hate their customers so much but it feels like they resent being in the customer service industry. On five straight visits, we had a bad experience with the staff. It was consistently one woman that was very negative. She sucked the air out of the room. Also hate that they charge $ 2 for delivery because that just results in a lower tip and a bad situation for everyone.

Pizza is pretty awesome but the service is really bad. They are friendly, very but I sat I the back and every time the waitress walked back there she never looked around. 3 tables were trying to get her attention. There was 2 working the back and neither of them looked around. That’s waitress 101. Come on. I really hope they do some adjustments because from what I understand the owners have lived here for many years so I hope that succeed but having bad service will soon make others go elsewhere. The chicken we ordered wasn’t fully cooked, bloody as hell. We sent it back and when it came back it still wasn’t cooked all the way through. I really want to give this place more stars but they have to cook their food, esp chicken. That to me is lazy cooking. I’ll come back for the pizza, but I’ll order it as take out.

For so long, I loved Claudine’s for a simple, delish and affordable weeknight meal – nothing fancy. Just a saucy chicken dish with some veggies and a side of equally saucy service. So, are they not doing well and relying on pre-prepared sauces and frozen food? Also, no one wants tilapia and chicken breast. I can reheat that from whole foods. I think people do like the pizzas, but with Sottocasa, Lucali’s and Krescendo all in the neighborhood, I don’t dare take any chances with my very infrequent pizza eating!
