Great if you want to wait 5 weeks for a repair that was supposed to take 2 weeks having paid the $ 70 for rush service. The inventory is great but for synth repair forget it. If I hadn’t bought most of my modular gear from them it would be a 1 star review, if this repair thing wasn’t happening it would be a 5 star review…

For those selling used equipment, the consignment %-rates are the highest in New York.

The best source for modular synth gear in NYC. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and not condescending in the slightest. If you’re a novice, they won’t talk down to you, and if you’re an expert, you’ll have peers to communicate with.

If you are into modular synth or simple an electronic music lover, here is the heaven, or hell, depend of the point of view. Lots of modules, lots of modules that you can test and play with! Going home without something is practically impossible. Also Robert is very kind and experienced, ask him if you are not sure what you want, I’m sure that you will fall in love with a module that you have never seen before, or you normally not worthy of a look.

Awesome little modular synthesizer shop with a vast selection of mostly Eurorack gear. Kind & knowledgeable staff. They not only carry new product, but used modules on consignment.

Wow. I was terrified the first time I walked by and stopped in. As a recovered modular synth addict, it is not good to have a shop like this right by my apartment(ironically, I pass by it on my frequent compulsive trips to De Wine Spot). They stock some amazing modules, occasional cool used gear(vintage drum machines!!!), and the coolest of the cool Korg/Arturia/etc new analog synths. The guys are knowledgable, friendly, and eager to demo their cool toys. Prices are normal/industry standard. While I have not fully relapsed back into modular addiction, I did pick up an MS-20 in there. So semi-modular-relapse, I guess. I might have to move.

I have been an avid electronic music lover for 15 years and this was my first time up close with a full-size modular synth setup. The staff was friendly and helpful, gave us a cool demo(since we didn’t really know what we were doing). Very cool store.

Control is a shop that specializes in modular synthesizers but also stocks a few other kinds of synths — as well as one-of-a-kind handmade ‘sound machines’ and buys/sells some used gear as well. As a boutique shop it’s GREAT! If you’re into or curious about electronic music, sound design and synthesizers this is an excellent place to stop by. The staff are knowledgeable, relaxed and affable. Time/traffic permitted, they will let you use some headphones and play with the various modules — letting you actually LEARN how they work in your own way before you consider purchasing them. They are also there to answer most(any?) questions you may have about any of the modules/gear. Additionally, they occasionally host events by various synth designers and musicians that specialize in said machines. If your curious about these kinds of synths(as I have been for a LONG time), and want to try some out in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, I can’t recommend a better place to do so(that I’m aware of) in NYC. I am eagerly looking forward to buying some machines from this great little store. In a word: EXCELLENT! and very highly recommended.
