Terrible staff, terrible food. What else is there to say.

I ordered from here about 5 or 6 times, and the food was decent — nothing too special. The the last time I ordered I got food poisoning(for the first time in my life). It was… one of the worst experiences of my life. I think I’ll choose to live a life without delivered ribs over chancing that again.

We had ribs delivered. It took exactly as long as they said. We ordered 10 of the St. Louis style, and 10 of the Baby Back ribs. She liked the Baby Back best because they fell off the bone. I liked the St Louis style better because the skin was a little tougher. The sides were decent, no complaints. 10 ribs will feed a couple with a combined weight of 300 lbs, as the ribs are not small.

OK pulled pork sandwich. Dreadful collard greens. Good fries. Commercial BBQ sauce. Décor that says, «most of our customers get delivery.»

tired. migraine. must eat. physically impossible to do the«what are you in the mood for» dance? then, inspiration — barbeque wings. holy crap, where did that come from? dallas bbq, the big, ugly chain from the city will actually deliver to us, but who’s this? Dallas JONES? Local place, nice pictures, online ordering, let’s do it. After an hour, a bag of cold food showed up at our door. Who wants to eat cold, congealed macncheese? The ribs were flat-out dry. The meat fell off the bone, but as one large chunk of dry particle board. On the other hand, the wings were pretty good. crispy & flavorful. Their sauce is a little sweet for my taste. The wife actually said everything just tasted sweet — meat, coleslaw, sauce, napkins, all of it. Baked beans also sweet, but had some nice texture. Coleslaw, macNcheese & collards were both pretty wretched and really overpriced. Next time, I’m just get the giant wings from dallas bbq like I wanted in the first place. PASS.

We were watching football with a few friends in Brooklyn Heights, and I had a serious rib craving. Perhaps because I always have a rib craving. Dallas Jones was right nearby, and their online menu, while comical and slightly scary,* offered a great value. The Family Feast for $ 36: a whole chicken, a full rack of baby backs, two sides and three honey butter cornbreads. Perhaps it’s because I just returned from a trip to the South. Perhaps it’s because we ordered delivery. Perhaps it’s because Dallas Jones had an off day. I don’t know what it was, but I was severely underwhelmed by the meal. The ribs and cornbread were decent enough, but the fried chicken tasted rubbery, with no crisp at all. The creamed spinach was stringy, and the mac & cheese forgettable. Apparently the pulled pork and the spicy fries are the way to go, and I plan on walking in for them one day, because some things just don’t travel well. __________ *There are multiple, hilarious options for nearly every item. For instance, you can order your chicken(or your fries) «not too coocked(sic).» I don’t know who out there is really looking for underdone chicken and soggy fries, but Dallas Jones has them covered.

I really wanted to like this place. We got the menu at our office during the summer and tried it. Had the pulled pork sandwich and wasnt impressed, the meat was fatty and the sauce was no better then Dallas BBQ. Decided yesterday to give them another shot, I had the hanger steak sandwich. Asked for it medium and it was cooked to oblivion, it also didnt say on the menu it was steak tips, I assumed it was an actual piece of steak. It said it comes with pepper and onions and it arrived dry. No peppers, no onions and no sauce. There was an option for no sauce, extra sauce or sauce on side and I left it blank figuring i would get the regular amount of sauce but they opted for the no sauce option and let me tell you those lil burnt bits needed some sauce. The fries were cold and limpid(they said delivery at 1230 on our online order and it didnt come til 1) The bun was the one highlight, soft and tasty. My coworker fared worse with the potato skins which were burnt and looked like plastic. She threw most of it out. There was also an ordering mishap when we tried to pay by CC online and when we called the restaraunt nobody answered the phone to the point we had to call the Manhattan outpost to get somebody. We were told the girl who answers the phone didnt come in, ummmmmm ok. That will be it for us.

Our knight in shining armor after an atrocious experience at the Parked: Food Truck Fest. After hours of waiting on lines for food and the Governors Island Ferry we were starved. Ravenous actually craving any type of sustenance. Off the ferry and briskly walking in search for food, the boys had a craving for pulled pork and got excited at the sight of BBQ. Our food decision was made. At first, I was surprised at the small space but the 5 of us and we fit pretty comfortably except for Dave who is extremely long and has trouble fitting wherever he goes ;). Danny, Maria and Dave opted for the pulled pork with mac and cheese, onion rings and potatoes. I opted for the crispy chicken avocado wrap with mashed potatoes which was delicious and Raph got grilled chicken. The portion size of the sides is quite small for the price. At $ 3.95 you should get more than a sause cup full. The mac and cheese tasted just like Kraft. Nothing special about it at all. The mashed potatoes were quite delicious. The prices were reasonable. Service was good. We definitely left satisfied and with happy tummies. 3 solid stars for food and service.

Got takeout last weekend from this small place on Atlantic Ave near the BQE… I’ve faced it… it’s damn near impossible to find my kind of barbecue in NYC. I’ve tried. I swear I have. It’s probably the lack of space that contributes to the dearth of good barbecue. You need space to pull off an open pit full of hickory logs that are the only way to slow cook a whole pig or butt or a rack of ribs. It’s hard to come by here, and expensive when you do. These spare ribs at Dallas Jones are«oven ribs», which aren’t terrible, but not the same as the real deal. The sauce is heavy on the ketchup and sweet, and I like more tang in my wang, so I added some hot sauce and tweaked it to my liking. The portions are huge and comparatively cheap– for $ 20 you get a whole rack of ribs(baby back or spare ribs) and two sides. The sides I tried– spicy fries and sauteed green beans– were really, really good. The fries were crispy and flavorful and the beans had sliced garlic and were cooked perfectly. My girl got the baby back ribs and potato salad and carrots, and those sides were also good. They accept cash and Amex only, and there’s not much space to dine in, so I’m keeping this as a carryout/delivery option.

If you want tasty pulled pork sandwiches for as little as 6.95. Here is the place. Now, they do not accept credit cards unless AMEX or just bring cash. It is small cozy nook about 4 – 5 tables so in case you want a big party, catering would be the best option. Take out, online, you can use credit card for delivery. I love this place. The customer service is awesome. The lady was patient as my friend agonized over which delicious platter to get – it’s not a long menu. I should mention that our waitress even split everything into two platters for us, since we said we were sharing and was just so helpful overall. She also gave us suggestions and let us know that they smoke everything and barbecue all the meats there. So it’s fresh and right off the grill literally. I love this place. It is full of charm, with its gingham table cloths and free month raffle drawing that I hope to win some day. I love their iced pink lemonade and their sweet iced tea(which is perfection!). I had tried their brisket platter, but I highly recommend their pulled pork. Plus, you get two sides with a platter. I got southern baked beans which was scrumptiously indescribable, or it must be the sauce made of bacon drippings that enhanced the flavor. It came with corn bread, which I’m never really a fan of, but hey my fiancée got more than his share. The platter I ordered also came with absolutely crispy very hot french fries and the onion rings which I really should not have. Lol. I didn’t have room for dessert, since the portions were so huge and satisfying. I guess I have to come back for pecan pie which was sold out. What a world! Thanks Dallas Jones Barbecue for being open when my belly really needed you!

Pretty mediocre. Have had it three times in hopes that it will be something more than it is… but we have given up. Last order(delivery) was rotisserie chicken, baby back ribs, boneless wings, collard greens, mac n cheese, and mashed potatoes. All were below average. Chicken was rubbery and the ribs fell off the bone(not ideal as I have found out by watching Pit Masters on TLC). The food just didn’t taste great. Tasted like they put some sauce on it(ribs and wings) and hope for the best. If you need BBQ then Waterfront is just a few doors down and has very good pulled pork, ribs, brisket, and other non-BBQ items. *Full disclosure, I edited(3.11.10) after discussing with the owner. The star rating remained the same(2-stars) but I wanted to clarify a point about the food’s preparation.

I work at a plus size boutique a couple of blocks away from this location of Dallas Jones. The Village location is always a favorite stop for lunch when I am in that area, so I got really excited at the prospect of being able to order delivery at work. My two coworkers and I all ordered the Pulled Pork lunch special with spicy fries and pink lemonade. Their website has a couple of quirks, especially on the lunch special menu, but they followed my note on the online form and called me to confirm my order. We also got 10% off of our order for ordering online, which makes for 3 happy and well-fed shop girls. We will definitely order again.

I’m giving this place three stars because I can’t say much about the bbq since I didn’t eat it. Everyone else seemed to enjoy theirs just fine. I opted for the sweet potato soup which was not very good and for the mediterranean salad which would be really tough to screw up. This review is more about the space rather than the food. The place is tiny, just four small tables. It’s also usually empty. We came here with a party of 10, pushed the tables together and basically took up the whole restaurant. As a big group it’s kind of nice to be able to do that and empty restaurants or bars are a pleasant sight The waitress was really nice and accommodating too. So I’d give it two stars for the vegetarian food options and four for the space and service.

I wanted to like this place. Really, I did. The first try was Halloween night. They were still in the process of building out the store, but they were serving food. We got an array of stuff(not all of which I can remember), and walked away thinking, «It’ll get better once they’re officially open». Fast forward to March, and it’s still about the same. The BBQ isnt especially tasty, and the side dishes arnt great either. I’m sure there is something good on the menu, but I havent found it, and I’m not interested in bobbing for BBQ again. The food gets one star, and the staff gets another. The guy that manages/owns this location is really personable. I just wish he had some better grub, and a better location.

2.5 stars… I just don’t get what these people are thinking… Been open for about 6 months now but it looks like they’re still moving in. I came here to check it out for lunch(around 3ish) and the lights were off, tables were up on the tables, it was hot and stuffy, and no one was around except one lady who was waiting for her food(good time to leave I know but I was stubborn and pushed on). Eventually a guy came out from the back and took my order, I got one of their lunch specials(pulled BBQ chicken with baked potato and pink lemonade). The chicken was really fresh and cooked perfectly and the bun was also fresh and not your typical wonder bread kind; the lemonade was also pretty good but this is where the pros stop and the cons begin. The BBQ sauce was just a small dab on top and not mixed with the chicken or anything nor were there any kind of seasoning or anything making the sandwich special or worth while. The baked potato had a really thick tough skin on it, kind of what you would see with a Wendy’s baked potato. The place is cash only and it took the guy several minutes in the back to bring me back my change and it wasn’t until I was leaving that it occurred to the guy working there to take the chairs down and make the place almost look open. If you want slightly better BBQ walk a couple blocks down to Pete’s Ale House(its a little more expensive but they’ve been there longer, are more welcoming, and seem like they know what they’re doing)

I cant believe the 4 stars from other reviewers! I kept trusting those 4 stars but no more… ive ordered from there 3 times and thats it. ill never waste my money there again. If you must order, listen: do not order the collard greens-worst ive ever had. ive truly never had such terrible tasting greens. stems were all chopped up and mixed in with little pieces of bacon and carrots… all very bitter and just so wrong. how could something with bacon be so wrong??? And do not get the french fries. they are always soft and soggy and so oily. Ive gotten them twice now and really both times they were just pathetic excuses for fries. Everything else,(catfish, chicken, burger) very below average.

I’m so excited to find this place. I found Dallas Jones because I was looking for a place in BK with good grilled chicken fingers. So I stumbled upon Dallas Jones, read the other reviews and decided to give it a try. I am so pleasantly surprised!!! Although the place is still under construction(so you kinda have to take your food to go), the chicken strips were delicious. You can have the strips fried or char-grilled and then you can choose to have them bbq’d, buffalo, or plain. I had the small order of the BBQ grilled chicken strips and a side of sauteed brocolli. Their entire menu is very extensive and it has a lot of options to choose from. I can’t wait to try the salads, pulled chicken, smoked rotiserrie chicken, turkey burger, and the rest of sides(they have mac n cheese, sweet potato, sauteed string beans, mashed potatoes, baked potato. and lots more). They also have good drinks like organic passionfruit lemonade, lime mint lemonade, and home brewed teas. The owner Davis was very friendly and was a pleasure to talk to! If your looking for a healthy but tasty food joint… this bbq place is the spot. They also have ribs, pulled pork, brisket, and loaded baked potatoes for those who aren’t looking to shed some pounds. If you live in the neighborhood you have to give Dallas Jones a try. I think they’re gonna be real competition for Jakes BBQ once they finish construction. Oh yea they also have a lunch special menu for 6.95 with about 12 selections to choose from. The lunch special comes with a pink lemonade too!

There really isnt a BBQ place like this in the area — that’s pretty cheap and delicious. It’s pretty much on the last block of Atlantic right before the BQE — not in the busiest strip of Atlantic, but close enough for those people who are enjoying some drinks a block up at Floyd or Last Exit. The place isn’t quite finished — like the inside is still *somewhat* under construction. I mean, no decorations and no varnish on the wood paneling. And the heat doesn’t always work. BUT, it’s still some damn good BBQ. I’m pretty much in love with their smoked chicken, which you can get as either a ¼, ½ or whole chicken — or wings. There’s a small and a large order of wings. If I recall, the small had about 7 – 8 wings and the large had like 14 – 15 or something. The small cost about 7 bucks and the large was like 12. I mean, they just taste awesome — the smoky flavor of hickory and other various wood chips that they use to smoke. And, yes, your fingers do smell like the smoke a few hours later, which only makes you want to have them again. haha. I also tried the brisket sandwich, which was good, but I still prefer the smoked chicken. Their spicy fries are also delicious. For lunch, I recommend getting the lunch special — 6.95 — comes with your choice of wings(get them smoked!), brisket sandwich, a side of your choice, and lemonade. Good deal. You can get some other small entrees for the lunch special but I don’t remember what they were. I really hope this place does well because I live a few blocks down and they deliver. The place is pretty small — you can eat inside if you want — I think there are like 4 or 5 tables. Oh, and it’s BYOB too! No credit cards accepted.

Living in Brooklyn Heights sometimes proves challenging when it comes to deciding on what to order when dining in(not enough choices — you know what I mean). That’s why during last fall’s Atlantic Antic, I was happy to come across Dallas Jones BBQ on lower Atlantic(towards the water, not Target). Not to be confused with Dallas BBQ that dots Manhattan, the Brooklyn Heights shop is the second location for Dallas Jones — the original is in Greenwich Village. The menu ranges from the healthful Char-grilled Chicken Fingers & Fresh Crudite appetizers to the more comfort-foody Pulled Pork(or Chicken) sandwich, burgers, chicken & ribs(although each category has healthier alternatives like Turkey Burgers). We often order the rotisserie chicken family feast which is quite reasonable — a whole juicy chicken + 2 sides & cornbread for under $ 20! The chicken always arrives juicy and flavorful and comes in fried or smoked variety. Salads are fresh, tasty and generous, but I was a little perplexed by the dressing(looked like some type of sauerkraut or relish, so I made my own vinaigrette instead). The vegetable sides have been a bit of a hit or miss for us(overspiced carrots and one time dry corn), so we stick to the salads instead. One night we were craving Buffalo wings — the sauce was tangy with just the right amount of spice — zippy! The only real downside is that Dallas Jones Brooklyn Heights only appears to do delivery for the time being, but that’s what makes it a great go-to for nights at home when I’m too tired to shop & cook. On the upside, their menu is fairly large for a BBQ joint, so I expect that it will be a while before we’ve hit every item. Definitely, a welcome addition to the ‘hood!
