intimate space located on a corner just one block east of hope and anchor on van brunt avenue. it’s a small gallery, which has the advantages that the owner was present and open to questions during my first visit. i love galleries like this. they have a real investment in the community, and, if things work out, they become an integral part of a neighborhood. there was a table-top installation piece on display, featuring an abstract architectural model of the city blocks in the neighborhood, complete with representations of people from the area. it’s the kind of immersive work that one can lose oneself in. on the walls were photographs and works of graphic art. the space plays hosts to parties with live music as well, giving me more reasons to make more visits to red hook.
