I’m glad to find another Caribbean restaurant on the Lefferts side of Flatbush! I look up all the reviews before stepping in here and just had to try the doubles. I only got doubles and kola champagne soda. The soda was way too sweet for my liking. I couldn’t finish it, and usually I like sweet juices, but that kind of kola wasn’t for me. I will definitely come back for the doubles and try the lunch and dinner menus.

Roti and doubles always good. It appears that they have different things than their menu board states and also that they don’t have everything on the menu board. Would like to know what they have without sounding like an ignorant white girl, because everything’s been delicious so far and the people who work there are nice. There’s places to sit and eat as well.

ahhhhh yeeaahh. This is my kind of spot. Its homey, personal, local, affordable, and goooood. There are no fillers here. This is your neighborhood joint, run by the family your kids go to school with kind of place. I had the roti with curry chicken and boneless chicken, and damn these are some serious meals. Thankfully not«itis» inducing meals, but close. I can still move and function after I eat here so thats good right? lol. People behind the counter were quick and pleasant. Cash Only. I wish my visit was long enough to try all of the other great options! Definitely recommend.

The doubles guy looks like he hates his life. Anyway, I’m Jamaican and vaguely familiar with Trinidadian food(I’ve only had roti), I had my first doubles here and it was delicious, that’s all there is to say. I’ll go back to try the rest of the menu.

I felt like I was back in Trinidad their doubles were so authentic. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was in the islands again: the soca music playing, the friendly staff, the spicy smell of the food. I never thought I’d have doubles so good on US soil!

If it is any indication how good the doubles are: my friend and I came here to get doubles and he went back later on the same day to get more. And the next day. And the following day, which was Monday and was crushed that De Hot Pot is closed on Mondays. We got two doubles, a shirmp roti and two drinks for 15 bucks. Everything was amazing and the staff(and other customers) were friendly and helpful.

I don’t know what the love for the doubles at this place is. I went and got two tamarind doubles for $ 3. He takes out two halves of bread, slaps some chickpea on them, I ask for tamarind sauce, and he wraps them up and gives them to me. The chickpea and tamarind sauce soak into the already fried bread, making a greasy, saucy mess. There’s not many chickpeas in the chickpea mix, so it’s mostly fried dough with tamarind and whatever sauce they cook the chickpeas in. I had to throw away my second double because it had just become a limp blob of fried bread with more fatty sauce. The bread isn’t fluffy or thick enough to absorb all the sauce so a lot of it spills out. I guess it’s cheap, but why put that in your body if it’s not appetizing? Maybe the entrees are better here, but the doubles are overrated. The spot is small, slightly dingy and has a few tables. There is an outlet that you can charge your phone in.

It’s okay. The food is good but it’s far too expensive for what it is. They charge me an extra $ 2 for the smallest scoop of green beans. There is barely filling the roti. The doubles are amazing. The place is falling down. They could try a bit harder with ambiance and portion sizes, considering the prices.

Doubles! Whenever I come home to Brooklyn, I take a walk here for the doubles. I always get 2 and I’m set. They are fast, friendly and have delicious doubles. I can’t say more about the other foods because I haven’t tried then but if you get a chance to go, go early and try the doubles.

I have been coming to this place for almost a year and I have to say the food is pretty amazing. However, lately they have been getting more and more skimpy with their portions. The worse part is that they kno they are being cheap, since they never argue if i want more toppings. I used to love this place for the value, but charging a dollar extra per small scoop of veggie for my veggie roti is absurd.

I’ve lived in PLG for almost 8 years but only discovered this place 4 months ago. Their Roti is the best I’ve ever had. And their doubles… wow! One of the main reasons I’m giving this place 5 stars is their customer service. We called one day to order food for pick up. The person on the phone asked how long we would be because she didn’t want the roti sitting there for a long time as it would get soggy. I always love a place that really cares!

Try the Shark and Bake for Breakfast; for lunch or dinner, the rotis are plentiful

«Eh lemme get 8 doubles with everything on it na an puh extra peppa sauce» that’s how my order usually is, haven’t tried anything else on the menu but the, doubles which indeed are the best I ever had in new york. lines get long but the workers move really fast, limited seating area but you can take a stroll threw the park. very inexpensive Trini spot

Wham bam thank you Unilocal. My first buy here was a boneless chicken roti. I admire a cook who knows how to prepare a roti of such desirable taste; seasoning and ingredients must have been appropriately measured from the start to finish in preparation of this well crafted product. Take Note: Don’t ask for hot sauce if you don’t like spitting fire!!!

My stomach hurt badly after eating a roti… never again. I tastes good but my stomach had me running to the bathroom.

I broke a very long trek out to Coney Island with a double from this place. Everything is pretty bog standard when it comes to this sort of place in Flatbush — the dark interior, incomprehensible menu with numerous hand written price revisions, a lack of seating. And also par for the course is the solid execution. There’s a huge Trini/Guyanese population around here, so the bar is set relatively high. So I when I was this was average, it’s not an insult. The sweet tamarind sauce dominated my double, as opposed to the hot sauce that I also requested. It was a messy gooey, delicious half-dozen bites. If I wasn’t enroute to another food destination I would have gladly had a second.

Get the doubles with sauce! Sauce has a little kick. Not on the menu so just ask for them. Super cheap, great for a quick bite. *cash only

There are a few wonders in this world… and one of them is how could I have possibly lived in Brooklyn all this time with this place a(*cough*) mere 45 min stroll across the park from me, and not eaten at it until recently. All I have to say is that from now on, I’ll be racking up the steps on my pedometer because this place is as proper for Trini food as they come. Let’s start where every review of a good Trini restaurant should start… doubles. Don’t know what they are? Well grab a friend, run over here and order«6 doubles»(or 8, or 10) with«everything sauce». Now I have to add that«everything sauce» isn’t a Trini thing, but it’s much better than trying to teach Americans to say«Slight peppa, mango chutney and kuchela». These doubles are as good as they come. Although on the small side, everything taste-wise about them is perfect. I’m now torn between this and A&A for best doubles in NYC. Next, the roti. I’ve both goat and chicken rotis and they are great! They come with some channa and curried potatoes in them as well, but they definitely don’t skimp on the meat. One of these babies will fill you up, and at $ 8, that’s a good deal. The dhalpuri is so good that I always get a couple extras to take home. And finally, the place itself. It is cute and small, with only a few tables in it, but it’s primarily a «to go» outfit. The staff is really nice, and will explain the dishes to you if you need one. Everything I’ve gotten here feels cleaner and fresher than at most other Caribbean restaurants I’ve been to as well. There’s always been a decent line every time I go here so I’m happy to see they do a good business. I’ll be frequenting this place a lot from now on, and if you want a taste of Trinidad, I highly recommend you go here too! 400th review… deserving of 5 stars… check.
