We have been serving Brooklyn and specifically the Greenpoint neighborhood since 1972 so we are the neighborhood’s reliable source when it comes to paint, painting projects, and/​or hardware. Highly experienced, professional, and friendly service. They were able to whip up a custom semi-​gloss formula from a couple paint chips. I’d already tried getting paint at home depot and another paint store that didn’t even come close to a match.

The owner at Devito’s is the nicest guy, a refreshing change of pace. He was super helpful on each occasion and my girlfriend on separate trips to his store told me the same thing. Awesome to have this established family store in our neighborhood for small or big fix-​it jobs around the house.

This place is amazing. Years ago I went in, picked a color card, and bought some paint. This time around I was trying to match some new bedding (pillowcase in hand) and a new sofa (only a screen photo to match). The guy was great. He mixed the bedrom color once, I wasn’t thrilled, we made it darker, and then mixed again. He took time to dip a stick and blow dry it to see how it would look dry. We added it it once more, and then it was perfect. (It came out great and matches perfect!!) The sofa was tricky bc it was only a photo on my phone — but we picked a great neutral, and only added to it once more. I think we spent an hour working the colors out. He even gave some great accent décor advice. Great place with a personalized approach. No rushing. No pressure. AMAZING service.

It all started when we had an ok time at Home Depot off the Bedford Nostrand stop. We got a plank of wood cut for shelves and they did an ugly job.
In comes Devito to save the day!
We showed up with our 4 raggedy shelves and he was super nice and friendly. He took the time to hand cut each shelf to our specifications and even called my roommate and I «sweetheart». In reality he is the sweetheart. We left with perfectly cut and sanded shelves and warmed hearts because he was so kind.
Definitely a return customer.

I never write Unilocal reviews, but this place deserves a write-​up so much so that I had to write one. The owner was super sweet, kept the place open past closing to mix some paint for me and went out of his way to nail down the color for me. He lent me his tape dispenser for the week for a move! (Who does that in NYC?!) And was just an all-​around nice guy. I seriously will be walking PAST the other two hardware/​paint stores on my block all the way down to Devito’s from this point forward.

Devito’s is the best. The owner is very knowledgable. He doesn’t try to sell you anything that you don’t need. His prices are very reasonable and the quality of the paint that he sells is Top Notch.

This small paint and hardware store can be easily missed on Nassau Avenue, but if you have a paint question, this guy is here to help. He can match colors very well and is always willing to work with you on any hardware related issue that you have. He has a wealth of information and is as patient as they come. If you need to do some painting, I suggest you check out Devito.
