I’ve never been to more of a meme restaurant in all my days. The food was absolutely disgusting. I’ve had real dim sum, and this is the furthest from it. Chalk like soup dumplings I could only compare to mochi ice cream, the garlic ribs were«boiled? With the rib pieces with bone and only bone. The entire meal was so bland, and I’ll never eat here again. These reviews are very surprising, I almost feel like everyone didn’t eat at the same place as me.

Enjoyed some amazing Steamed Cabbage Dumplings! Great size for sharing or as a lite lunch, also the Grandmas Pickles were to die for. If you like pickled veggies definitely try this! As a pescotarian(yeah .duh mostly pork menu) not a whole bunch of options but a significant amount to enjoy a meal. Had the seasoned veggies(Chinese broccoli so good!!) with rice, small but tasty. Definitely will come back and enjoy their steamed dumplings again :)

I never know what time traditional Dim Sum usually ends at(in Boston it’s 3pm), so Dim Sum Bar was a great way to guarantee I could have some before I left the city. The menu is priced the way I think an a la carte place would be in comparison to the larger Dim Sum places. There was a ton of stuff you’d see on the carts; char siu bao, turnip cakes, and the sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves, to name a few. They were all delicious, came out relatively quick, and didn’t break the bank at all. My friend is a vegetarian and there were a ton of vegetarian options on the menu– less so on the Dim Sum menu, but the larger plates and appetizers had plenty. The teas we got were very good; I’m surprised how much I got even though I got the mug instead of a whole teapot. I honestly don’t remember any décor but the food spoke for itself. All excellent!

Tasty dim sum, good location if you’re in Billyburg, good tea, no alcohol license as of Dec 2015 and priced at a slight premium to what you typically pay at your go to spot in Chinatown if you have one. Who are we kidding… what you lose in authenticity, you win in cleanliness and ease of process. The setup is not conducive to a large group so leave the stragglers at home. In general, this place does a decent job. Since I’m not aware of other dim sum options in the area, I’ll definitely be back.

I was at Dim Sum Bar last week for a Holiday gathering with a group of friends of 12. All the Dim Sum dishes were great! Waitress were friendly and we felt welcome. Like the casual but trendy décor of the restaurant very much. Reasonable Price. It was just a wonderful dinning experience we all enjoyed. Beauty tea, Lava bun, Sesame Chicken, Duck Bun and Duck Leg over rice are my favorites. Will definitely go back for more.

I went here while visiting Williamsburg for the week last month and loved it! I’m a new Dim Sum lover so I don’t know how much weight my opinion holds, but I really enjoyed it. We got several dishes, including the potstickers, mochi pork bun(?), pan noodles, spring rolls, etc. When we got the check we were pleasantly surprised by the total. Also, it was a very clean and nice atmosphere. Wish there was a place like this near me!

My friend & I ordered 10 items on the menu. two of them were fine, the rest were bad. the meat was not fresh, the dumplings were stuck to the dish, and even the spring rolls were empty. there were no napkins, and the sauces smelled like fish. it cost us $ 71 and we didn’t even get full. the only dish that was worth it was the duck bao. big disappointment.

Though it is like a dollar or two more per steamer of dim sum than going to actual Chinatowns, I have to say as a resident of the neighborhood, I’m sooo glad that this is here. Saves the train rides to Flushing/Sunset Park/Manhattan and the early mornings wakeups(they serve dim sum all day). And happy that it’s not trying to be all fancy-fusion, just clean and well-prepared food. The hargow(which is the litmus test for me) was just right; the dumpling skin was not too thick or gummy and the shrimp mix inside was springy and tasted fresh. No bits of shell or past-prime bamboo shoots, which is the downfall of many hargows from other places. And the lava bao is off the hook. It’s savory sweet melty-ness is next-level nai wong bao. Echoing the comments of past reviewers, it’s real Chinese folks making the real deal. It’s a humble spot that I’ll keep going back to again and again.

The Lava bao is a must! And their ha gao which never eat in other places, this place changed my mind about dim sum. Great service and décor! Will be back.

Just at the corner of Bedford Ave, very cozy place. Music is great, service is perfect. The food served here is real Cantonese cuisine(believe me I’m Chinese), taste great. I ordered Clay Pot Beef Noodle($ 15) for an afternoon bite. Reminds me of home. P.s down the road head north to the riverside, there is a great viewing spot that you can see Manhattan landscape, Williamsburg Bridge, Manhattan Bridge at the same time. Very few people visit there, and there is a wooden piano on the shore. Very romantic.

SPACE: I came here for a friends’ gathering and were seated in our own section in the back of the restaurant. The space was quite roomy, fitting 12 of us comfortably. They also have a cozy outdoor space so I can imagine how nice it would be to sit out there during nice weather. SERVICE: Very good with attentive and friendly wait staff, which made the whole dining experience that much more enjoyable. FOOD: Came out steamy hot and fresh, made just right, being not too salty or too bland. DRINKS: What I find unique about this restaurant is their dedication to introducing us to their wide selection of teas. Since drinking tea has known beneficial health factors, I think it’s a plus. RECOMMENDATIONS: Definitely try their steamed shrimp dumplings, spare ribs, garlic shrimps over clear noodles, their signature fried rice, and many other dishes! Check out my photos!

Fact #9: Dim sum or die. F*** finally, dim sum in the hood, okay, the asian in me likes to dine in Chinatown but this is a life saver, very good, a few surprises, décor doesn’t match Brooklyn standards but pork and buns are for sure matching mine. Welcome!

Very friendly, fast and good service. I had the dumplings and they are all delicious and original. Super fair prices. Interior is very simple and nothing special. Perfect place if you like dumplings.

Super cozy inside, really sweet waiters and waitresses. Had the shumai which I really liked, but the shrimp was just a little too cooked, and the wonton soup which was super tasty! Definitely will be coming back, great date spot!

I was really excited to try the dum sum bar. But the moment I sat down and looked at the prices on the menu I couldn’t help but feel like I was getting ripped off. I guess it’s the Chinese in me. I suppose it’s the Chinese in them to think they can just double prices while giving standard average plates of dim sum.(Char Sui buns are $ 5 for 2!!!). Don’t get me wrong. The food wasn’t bad. But there were a few things I thought weren’t great. What I ordered: har gow shrimp dumplings, Lo Mai Gai chicken wrapped in lotus leaf, shrimp shumai, and the lava bao and a pot of tea. Total: $ 30 What I liked: The lava bao was delicious. The bun was very fresh and the yolk was delicious. Very creamy and fragrant. The shumai was my favorite. Fresh crunchy shrimp and the wrapper had a good delicate consistency. Char sui bao: the charsui bao was not bad. Actually pretty good. Even though $ 5 for 2 is extremely steep. What I didn’t like: Okay. Who serves mustard and siracha at a dim sum restaurant. In Hong Kong, heck in Manhattan Chinatown, dim sum is served with SPICY brown mustard and Chinese hot sauce. The Lo Mai Gai had nothing in it. A slice of Chinese sausage and barely any meat. C’mon. Décor is pretty lame. ZERO personality. Letting me add my own tea leaves into a pot of water is NOT creative. For what they serve, I feel like they are targeting white folks who don’t know any better when it comes to authentic Chinese. But being Chinese I would much rather travel out to Chinatown to dim sum go go, ping’s, jing feng or golden unicorn for a BETTER experience and more REASONABLE price. Now, if they were going for a more fusion approach like Mission Chinese I could accept that. But they aren’t. Conclusion Perhaps the owners are still figuring out what people like and what works. But it doesn’t feel like the owners love what they do but are just thinking about how much money to squeeze out your pockets. I guess it’s the Chinese in them.

Went there last night with a group of 8. Staff was really kind and accommodating. Food was great– the sesame chicken and fried rice from the entrees were delicious. Dim sum wise hargow was on point as was the chicken bao. Hoping to see a few more options for dim sum or a rotating list for next time I roll through.

Dim Sum all day! This place steam their DimSums to order, unlike other DimSum restaurants in Brooklyn. The price is reasonable, food came out steamy hot. Yumms! I ordered the shu mai, shrimp dumpling, turnip cake, and shrimp noodles. Everything was very fresh and yummy. They also serve some interesting teas. I had the rooibos with mix berry. I would definitely try out a different combination next time Im here. Overall I had a great experience, the waitress were welcoming, food was on point. I’ll see you again soon Dim Sum Bar!

My friends and I were really excited to try the Dim Sum Bar out. We ordered a lot of different things on the menu to share. Overall the dishes are very fresh and tasty and well seasoned without being salty. My favorites were the dumplings, fried chicken, duck rice. I had the the lotus cake and oolong tea with goji berries for dessert. The cake was surprisingly good, like a sticky date cake but not too sweet. The service was very friendly and the waitresses were helpful when answering questions about the menu and were super friendly to my 2 year old son and even brought him some little cakes. He absolutely loved when they came to our table and opened the steam baskets. The owners cute mom Jenny even came over and chatted with us. I love the welcoming family vibe of this place and cant wait to come back.

I would only come back here for the golden mantou or the sponge cake or the shu mai Everything else was not good… — Egg rolls barely had any ingredients in them. Mostly just fried paper. Couldn’t even tell if there was meat in it. — Scallion pancakes were okay but they had strange sauce and pork sung over it which seemed unnecessary — Tea was good but overpriced

Always excited to try a new Asian place, especially in Williamsburg, this spot has a great casual vibe and warm, welcoming staff. The menu is split between a dim sum list and regular menu, and offers everything from $ 5 soup to $ 18 shrimp noodles. While vast and ultimately satisfying, the menu and presentation could still use some fine-tuning. Additionally, the dim sum list has some of the classics but seemed to be missing major standards — XLB, bok choy(or any steamed veg, for that matter), ha gao, etc. However, the existing offerings were delicious. I enjoyed the potstickers, shu mai, and char siu bao, and thought the shu mai were the standout. They only offer sriracha and soy on request and only in tiny dishes — kind of a pain when you’re sharing dumplings As for the regular menu, the small plate options seemed confusing for a dim sum place. Isn’t your whole concept small plates? I tried the scallion pancake, which was delicious and unique, but challenging to eat with the sauce plated under the pancake. You can certainly see the creativity and passion in the kitchen, and I look forward to coming back in another month when they’ve got their liquor license. Hopefully, they’ll have honed their menu by then, too.
