Starting with my parents in the 70s, my family has always used Dixie Foam mattresses. They last forever, are very comfortable, and are reasonably priced. They are also easy to transport since they’re all foam: I have traveled across the Northeast with a King sized mattress in the backseat of my Camry by just rolling it up and tying it up with some ropes. It is a shame that Dixie Foam is still relatively unknown, even among locals, when new companies on the market like Casper are getting popular due to savvy marketing. Dixie Foam should do some marketing in the area as well — they have been around long enough to have all the hip/local credibility if they choose.

Mark sold us a solid boxspring at a reasonable price. He delivered it the same day that we ordered it. We also hired him to assemble a bed that we purchased from Amazon. He showed up on time and completed the job in about 90 minutes. He was professional and did a good job. The bed looks beautiful. I will definitely use them for future purchases and bed assembly. Mark is a good guy, ask for him!

Great selection for hypo-allergenic mattresses. Great products, great salespeople, great prices — what more can I say? An allergy to memory foam had us going to every hypo-allergenic mattress store in Manhattan. Either they were too firm, too expensive or they weren’t really organic. Dixie Foam worked with us very patiently and we ended up buying a custom made mattress that was perfect — and less money than anything we saw at the other stores. Dixie Foam sells only what they make in the Brooklyn factory, so they know exactly what goes into their mattresses. Don’t buy mystery foam that is made in China!

It had been a year since we had purchased our Dixie Foam Queen size mattress and we are very happy with our purchase. Mark was very helpful in assisting us in the selecting of our queen size mattress and it was the BEST investment we had ever made! Many great night rest and made in the USA! Well worth a trip in trying what will fit you best! Mark even deliver our mattress to us in Queens, New York.

I like my mattress except for the fact that it is smaller than the dimensions they advertise. I ordered a Queen size and it is definitely smaller than that. I called multiple times and they finally sent out someone to look at it. He measured the mattress, agreed it was smaller, made a joke about how size matters and then I never heard from them. Needless to say, I won’t buy anything from them again.

I have been a Dixie Foam customer since the 1970’s. This time around I desperately needed a new mattress for a temporary apartment that I am living in. I had been out of the USA for quite a while and I was so elated to learn that Dixie Foam is still in business! I rushed down and purchased a mattress without needing to compare prices, quality, etc. with other foam mattress stores. I knew that I was getting exceptional quality at a price that I could afford. My experience was made even better by the excellent in-store sales personnel, and the ability to reach the owner himself with a few questions. Advice for all you newbies to NYC, this is the place to shop when you want a good night’s sleep!

The best! I recommend Dixie Foam to all of my friends and family. I’ve never slept on a more comfortable bed. I’ve had back problems for years, and they’ve finally subsided and I can sleep soundly. Not only is their mattress quality amazing, but Mark was so helpful and accommodating and he delivered the mattress personally. Overall very pleasant experience. I got the dream bed deluxe… highly recommended

We bought a latex foam mattress from them about 9 months ago and it gradually got saggier. We knew there was a problem when we found ourselves moving to the middle as soon as our partner got up. We spoke with Mark who agreed there was a problem and promised to have a replacement available the next weekend for no charge. I don’t know much about foam and whether a defect should happen, but I do know customer service(I ran customer service for Fuji bicycles!), and both Mark’s follow thru and response were the best I can ever recall. The new mattress is great, my hips don’t hurt in the morning and we are once again happy. Update…after a few more months the second mattress is sagging where we sleep. My wife barely weights a hundred pounds… frustrating.

I might as well write an update; I called Dixie-Foam today with the concern my friend had when he was shopping for a new mattress; I recommended Dixie Foam to him and he nixed it. «Off-gassing,» he said, and got a queen-sized futon he has to turn every couple of weeks.(I was amused that the manufacturer recommended the owner of the futon drop it periodically from a height of about 6 feet onto a concrete slab; I don’t know too many people who are able to do that with their mattress.) So I asked the guy if I should be concerned about off-gassing from my mattress – which I’ve been sleeping on for about 12 years, anyway. «There is no off-gassing,» he said. I know; there’s no smell, even. I just want to be able to relay that information to my friend. It’s an important concern, but you have to figure they’re a responsible, local manufacturer – another reason to buy a Dixie Foam.

I like the option of bringing your own fabric. Indeed I bought the Fabric from California and shipped it directly to Dixie. I give them 5 stars for the quality of the work. I dont like to write and elaborate, so post a receipt as a prof that this short review is real. But I must add that I dont agree with Matt L’s review. There are many types of mattresses in term of quality and dense, and you need to know which mattress fits your body and needs. I believe that those mattress which feel stiff like a wood are actually more expensive because their density is very high. I am sure the owners can reply and better explain it, but I guess they dont have the time or just dont care…

This place came highly recommended by a co-worker and she was absolutely right! We were shopping for a mattress and were considering a range of mattresses when my co-worker suggested we look into DixieFoam Beds. We purchased the DreamBed deluxe mattress. The price for a queen mattress came to about $ 600. It does not have the heavy/bulky feel and that works for us! We cannot decide between the medium firm and super firm, but bought the super firm. The owner was kind enough to offer to let us exchange it for the medium firm if it does not work out. We had to switch to the medium firm because it worked better for my husband. I can’t complain because service was great! Definitely, the right type of mattress for us.
