Im a born and raised Mexican from Texas and I love this place! Tacos have a ton of meat and come with Guacamole. The Quesadilla has a good cheese kick to it and the burritos are enough food for an entire day! Support this place, and keep it in the hood !

Oddly enough my fiancé and I decided to take a break from tacos after moving to the neighborhood to focus on more healthy fare. We broke our no taco streak with Don Gabriel and we were very happy we did. We had two chicken, two spicy pork, and one fish taco. The fish and chicken were amazing and the spicy pork was good too. Everyone there was very nice and it had a nice hole in the wall feel to it. The experience was refreshing after we’ve had some not so good dining experiences in the neighborhood. We’ll definitely be back as much as our dedication to healthier eating permits.

The prices are good but I guess because the food is not exactly the most delicious around, but it’s good though. The staff is very friendly the place is not very busy, so you don’t have to wait long for your food.

Had some tacos form here a while ago, had an al pastor and a cecina. Both were solid. Nice people.

I went here because I think Los hermanos makes mediocre tacos and hermanos fans were ragging on this place. I figured people with poor taco taste would dis a good taco because they don’t know what a good taco is. I’m a dick. Anyway Really like the al pastor, comes with pinapple it’s a good deal. Not a fan of their quesadilla. Al pastor tacos… darn good

My new favorite spot in Bushwick. Amazing food — lovely service, and great hours. You really can’t go wrong with the menu — everything is amazing. My favorites so far are the veggie, fish and al pastor(pineapple and pork) tacos. Brought a group of friends here for brunch — we had a feast for about $ 10 a person and everyone loved it.

If good, fast and honest count for anything then this is the original Don of all Dons. The menu is straight forward and no frills but that why I love it. The staff may not be Applebee’s friendly flare but you will walk away full and satisfied. There is something to be said about actually getting a meal that is a little more than you paid for. If you want Mexican food that won’t have you saying ‘Dios Mio!’ Dons is for you.

The first thing you notice about this restaurant is the aforementioned sign. A hand painted, black-lettered, wooden canvas that fulfills the very bare minimum requirements of signhood. Directly across the street burns hot the dollar shaped sign of a pawn shop with enough raw output to be seen aboard a Virgin Galactic low earth orbiting vehicle. It’s even more visible outside my bedroom window since I live directly above this pawn shop and, subsequently, haven’t had an honest night’s sleep in months. Don’s stands in defiance of this malevolent witness, with food in hand, daring people to turn away from the light and to condemn such a lurid display of capitalistic vacuousness. I’ve eaten at Don’s more times than I have bothered to remember to count. The tacos are delicious and deserve high praise. Each taco is filled to the brim with a variety of toppings. The different tacos could just about be counted on two hands’ worth of fingers, while the combination of toppings in each numbers exactly one more than you could consciously process with your taste buds. Guacamole, onions, a new and unique cheese — was that cilantro? Is there an extra-terrestrial planet named Niburu just outside our solar system? I can’t even. I also highly recommend the eggs with salsa breakfast platter. 2 eggs, salsa verde, rice, beans, garnished with fresh avocado and oaxaca cheese, the platter is barely less spartan than the sign out front, but the dish exists firmly inside the intersection of healthy, whole, and filling. Find them on seamless.

Absolute in love with their Tortas ! It’s is a lot more than what you pay for. Plus they have fresh bread every morning. A big plus for morning people that want to grab a quick bread and head to work or school. They are very hard working and though they do not speak perfect English. They try their verry best to communicate with their customers. Love them ! DG

Yummy yummy tacos for super cheap! The vegan ones come with tons of guac, lettuce, corn, zucchini, tomato, etc for $ 3.50 each. Surprisingly, the pork and pineapple tacos are even cheaper for $ 2.50 a piece. The veggie tostados are also the bomb! The storefront is somewhat unsuspecting, and the inside is definitely a little bare bones, but the flavor is FORREAL.

The tostadas are consistently good, everything else — is not. When the nachos are done well, they’re a generous helping of meat, beans, cheese, and guac on very tasty tortilla chips. Problem is, you have no idea if they’re going to be good any particular day. The chalupas are insulting — $ 5 for tortillas smeared with hot sauce. No joke. I took a picture.

Don Gabriel, don’t change a thing. Bushwick doesn’t need any more pretentious and overpriced joints. This place is no-frills but clean, with friendly staff, great food and unbeatable prices. I’ve been going there for breakfast sandwiches– they make my bacon egg and cheese with avocado and tomato for $ 3.75. Better than the bougie«locally-sourced artesenal foraged farm-to-table»(insert whatever other trite buzzword) option for $ 14 across the street. No brainer. Love you DG.

Meh. Los Hermanos is still the best. We got delivery from Don Gabriel’s on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Delivery was prompt. The food, however, was doled out in very small portions – bland, mushy. We got a spicy pork taco, a chorizo taco, spicy pork nachos, and the spicy pork & pineapple pastor(decent tortilla, if you like it thick and crumbly, hunks of pineapple, flavorless kidney beans – we’re these just taken from a can?). Spicy pork here is a little spicy, but has a very mushy texture. The nachos – sparsely scattered, house-made tortilla chips(think thin pita chips), dabbled with a little bit of cheese, and again the mushy pork. The chorizo was a little spicy, but seemed as though it were prepared in a dumpling steamer. The tacos were surprisingly small. We ordered one taco crunchy, & one with the soft corn tortilla. They both arrived soft. The guacamole was good, and the green sauce was also good – tomatillo seeds, spicy, and Mexican crema – good. After what we ordered and ate there today, we we’re still hungry and plan to order take-out from Los Hermanos. We would rather order from Happy Fresh Taco than this place.

really really good tacos, austere setting is strange but nice. Pretty much best tacos in this area. Tried burrito, torta and quesadillas, all pretty good but honestly you can get better versions elsewhere. Its all about the tacos. Very fresh tortillas, perfectly cooked meat, a dollop of guacamole, and excellent salsa. Well priced.

It’s funny that one person said«they need to redo their sign.» In a sea of neon, bubble-lettered 99-¢ store signs, the unglamorous stick-figure letters of Don Gabriel stand out, almost Basquiatesquely. This sign is what caught my eye, which led me to Unilocal, which led me inside. And boy am I glad I did. The food is bursting with flavor, at a price that’s more than fair($ 6 for a fat burrito), with superb, genuine customer service. The first time I went in, the little lady who helped me(who also turned out to be the lady making my sandwich) spent a good 5 minutes answering my questions about this or that item on the menu — and she never seemed annoyed(or hid it very well). This place is a gem. This place is one of those spots I almost don’t even want to review because I want to keep it to myself. No complaints, at all.

WOAH, these are some banging tacos! Like REALLY good. The kid running the register was friendly too. They need to redo their sign, had no idea they had such good food until I saw them on grub hub

Awesome Tacos. Best in Bushwick by far, definitely superior to los hermanos, and not busy at all so without the wait. The tacos are cheap and guac is included in the price. A+ highly recommended. I pretty much never go out of my way to write reviews, but I really really want this place to stick around, and they could use more business. They just recently opened.

This place is so good. Everything is good. The chilaquiles verdes is my favorite. The restaurant is pretty bare bones aesthetically but the food is very high quality and the owners are a very nice couple originally from Puebla. It opened in February 2014.
