— They give you so much damn food here for cheap — I ate three meals for a total of $ 13 — You come here, you know what you’re getting… Don’t visit with any expectations — This place is filled with locals, so you know it’s good

I was starving today and wanted a quick cheap lunch. I know that the pickings are slim in this area and I was not leaning in the direction of any fast food. So I happened to come across this Spanish restaurant and knew that I could get a decent filling meal. I ordered the lunch special which consisted of chicken(white meat) along with rice and beans. Now I can usually count on this type of meal to be satisfying and delicious. I mean I have never really had a bad plate of rice and beans, but this meal was just downright bad. It looked good when she was serving it up in the to go aluminum plate, but it left much to be desired when I started to eat it. First off, the chicken was so dry and tasted like it was two days old sitting in the refrigerator and heated back up again. I expect the breast to have some dryness to it but this was just overcooked. The rice was hard! It was yellow rice that tasted like it was crusted over at the top because it tasted crunchy and. The red beans were just ok maybe more on the mediocre side. They just didn’t have that Spanish kick that you expect when you eat beans. The restaurant has a large eating area and bar seating. Maybe they should just stick to serving drinks. This place was renamed Careta.

I had a lazy day and resorted to one of the many menus that appear under my door. I ordered a Cuban, fries, and a Snapple for a delivery and it made it to my door within a reasonable amount of time. Although they forgot my Snapple, had it been included, the price would have still been under $ 10 for all three and for the quality of the food, that is a good deal. The Cuban was on a nice tasting roll with plenty of seasoned, chopped pork, ham, and cheese. I am accustomed to a Cuban having a pickle sliced inside as well, but I didn’t miss it. The pork was something I would definitely like to see on other dishes, even if it was a bit on the dry side and the fries were generic, but crispy. I will definitely give this place another go in order to try some of the more Spanish food and will update accordingly.
