Fairhaven Funeral Chapel

My mom died shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. My family had ZERO experience with this and were not tied to any specific religious organization or outlet though we are thoughtful and spiritual people.
I recalled when my dad passed over 24 years ago, we used someone that took care of basically all of the things required for a respectful service and burial. I asked my brother ‘who did mom use to bury daddy’. Fairhaven on Fulton Street
My late evening/​early nighttime call to Mr. Sheppard was returned immediately as I was in the hospice unit at MJHS in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. ‘No worries Ms. Wyatt’ I was told as my mom lay across the room already gone home. We will contact the facility and take it from there’. That helped because it was after business hours and knowing someone responds after 7pm or later makes it less weird to do this business. I felt as if we were at 2am, I would have received a returned call and comforting response to ease my thoughts.
A day later, a brief meeting and call with my sister to share the family wishes included an exchange of information. We picked a date, and they provided everything else at quite a reasonable price based on our needs and wishes.
Even a place for the repass was recommended when we couldn’t identify somewhere close to the church where we held services.
The docs and the arrangements are a huge part of selecting someone knowledgable but in the end it’s about the things like being sensitive to the needs of the guests of the family, providing an atmosphere that respects the deceased. Someone who can receive flowers and acknowledgements and make sure they are present at the church.
The Fairhaven Funeral Chapel did an outstanding job for my inexperienced family at A time we were broken.
The services were outstanding, memorable and were more like a celebration of life than morbidity and loss.
I have told my niece to use them for me when the time comes. They are wonderful and I am proud to be their Unilocal reviewer and and answer any questions posed to me.
Do not hesitate to use them. They are also culturally sensitive so they have a broad and knowledgeable reach which helps also very much. Though we are black and baptist, I would trust them no matter my race or religion, burying locally or shipping remains.
They do it all.
