Their dan tat(Portuguese styled) was super tasty; really creamy and rich, which was perfect. It’s a must try when you come to «Good Family Bakery». They also have cheap dim sum items that taste good if you want a quick dim sum fix without actually dim summing lol. Cakes and various Chinese bakery items are offered(bread, cakes, etc). They also have Chinese loaves of bread and packaged cookies. I also like getting their chow me fun, fried rice, and bao when they’re out of the kitchen first thing in the morning; it’s super fresh tasting and cheap too!

This is my go to place for dim sum. I really love this place because they aren’t like any other bakery in ave u. This customer service is always quick and easy. Most of the time I would order their rice rolls. Often they run out of the ones I went but fear not… ah yee to the rescue. If they run out They can make you a fresh one on the spot but there’s one catch… you must be patient and wait. I didn’t mind because usually it’s about a 5 minute wait if there’s no other customers. Other places if they are sold out they will not make you fresh ones. Even at 2 pm when dim sum hours are longggggg over they still will make it for you if you ask nicely. Their stuff is often cheap and you can be pretty full with maybe about a 5 dollar purchases. They also have a menu for bubble teas and other drinks that are relevantly the same prices as other bakeries. Their bread and pastries is not as wide variety as ka ka and not as creativity as long Wong down a block but it’s still good. If you come during morning and about 3pm you will find a bunch of senior citizens flocked together chatting away. Weekends and holidays especially don’t even bother as most of the day is filled with people hustling and building on dim sum orders

My grandfather comes here at 8AM every morning to see his senior friends. They sit at the same table near the window day after day. My grandfather likes me joining him from time to time on my days off. The women working there know him and his order(older folks are very routine). I usually order the $ 2 shiu mai and the $ 1 ovaltine. Pineapple buns are $ 0.50. You really get a bang for your buck. There is a TV inside that usually displays Chinese shows/news. My only gripe is about the cleanliness of this bakery. Though there is an A from the health inspector, there are certain things that make my skin crawl. Handling money with the glove that serves, infrequent table and bathroom cleaning. The trays that sit above the trash are not sanitized down. Instead someone takes a rag and wipes each tray down without soap or rinses in between. So if germs were on one tray, they are now on all the trays wiped after the originating germ tray. GROSS!

This place is a wonderufl place to get cheap dim sum in the area. Everything is so cheap and for under 15 dollars you can get enough to feed 3 people. My only issue is that the food is usually cold even when I eat it there, I’m not sure exactly whats going on but aside from that its some decent food if you happen to be in the area. They close at 5 and at around 4 they offer a discount on everything in the store. They literally end up giving you free stuff, but its very limited being that its the end of the day.

I LOVE this bakery because they are the only bakery I know of on Avenue U that also serves Dim Sum. Sometimes, if I don’t want to wait«on line» at the Dim Sum restaurants, I’ll drop by Good Family to pick up some Dim Sum to go. You usually have to get here early though, especially on weekends, as the Dim Sum is sold out very fast. They carry the basic dishes here so don’t expect anything fancy. The line tends to always stretch to about 10 – 15 during the weekend mornings, but it moves very quickly.

Good place to get dim sum to go if you’re in the neighborhood. Typical Chinese bakery with average prices. I had the haw gaw, haw churn, roast pork bun, sticky rice and the pai gu fan. The first three were good, the sticky rice was bland and the pai gu fan was gross(almost not edible). Nothing really special to write.
