Never Again! I am so angry! I was a customer of this business for years with no incident. Their tamarind sauce was always tamarind sauce. There’s one woman working there who always seems to give me a funky look and have a permanent attitude, but I never pay her any mind. Today I bought a roti with potato, chickpeas and tamarind sauce. When I got home I took one bite and my mouth was on fire! I called to ask if they changed their tamarind sauce recipe and ‘stink face’ tells me they use one spoon for all the sauces. Well, that’s not good; does the term ‘cross-contamination’ mean anything? She then tells me to take it up with the owner tomorrow. Unfortunately, I bought a roti for my dinner today that is inedible. Before I could finish what I was saying, she hands the phone to the older woman who actually made the roti. She was nice enough to find out what I wanted(a replacement roti) and told me to come back. I drive back over their, and as soon as I open my mouth to tell the older woman it was me she just spoke to, stink face opens the register and tells me to take my money and give her back the roti, as if what I said was so unreasonable and as if she and I have had words before. I didn’t argue, I just handed her the bag and took my money. As I leave she mutters that no one ever complained before about this. I then had to tell her she has a nasty attitude. Now, if I wanted pepper sauce I would have asked for it. There was no mention of this new, disgusting policy that all sauces share the same spoon so I could at least decline any sauce(as I said, I never had an issue before). Further, if an employee wants to resolve an issue(the older woman was prepared to just make me a new roti) let her, for the sake of your business. I don’t know what I ever did to this woman to make her take such a disliking to me, but at the end of the day, I couldn’t care less because the customer is always right. She better be glad I don’t report them to the board of health! Now, because of this I will no longer patronize this business. I will take my business to a place that actually has respect for their customers. Just because no one has complained before doesn’t mean it’s not a problem.

Best doubles I have eaten and I give it my best. These people work hard and the quality is just too good. My sister friend Marcia introduced me to this place. God bless these folks and their business.

Can’t beat a $ 5 chicken roti! You get plenty of chicken and some good dhalphourie. Hot sauce is great! And the 2 ladies there are always pleasant.

My favorite spot for polourie and doubles when I come to NY! If you want authentic Trinidadian food, this is the place. I’m from Trinidad and live in DC where there is no decent Trini food. The only time I get polourie and doubles that taste like I’m back home is when I go to Grace.

Really good roti. It’s wrapped tight and jammed pack with at least a pound of meat and potatoes. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more than a pound. Taste really good. Big enough to be lunch and dinner for only 5 bucks. Can’t beat that.

The doubles here are just DIVINE, dahling. You MUST try it! The tamarind sauce is TODIE for! Seriously though. They are that good. The other reviews about the the attitude at the counter are not kidding(«whatchoo want?») but the food is delish so I don’t care if they don’t give a damn. (-1 star for really boring cabbage and no spinach roti. Stick to the meat and the doubles.)

Trust the reviews and come here. The women who work here are very friendly and informative if you don’t know much about Caribbean cuisine. They make the best rotti around. all of they’re other food is fantastic too.

Yes! I may have found a new doubles spot. I’ve been looking for one too since a lot of places doubles have been deteriorating as of late. I won’t say who specifically because, this review has nothing to do with those places. However GBM Roti Shop is a nice small spot right by Nostrand and Church and their doubles are amazing. $ 1.25 is a price I like as well. I have to come back and try out their roti. 4.5 stars.

I got into Doubles when I was in RN school and got along fabulously with my West Indian friends. They walked me up to Church Avenue and straight into this unassuming little shop. I’m soo glad they turned me onto these because it is exactly what you need as a snack or a full on meal. At $ 1 a piece, how can you go wrong?! The ladies at the counter come with a some attitude but it’s part of the experience and you quickly forget it when you see them whipping one of these bad boys up. The bread is warm and chewy, the chickpeas are perfectly seasoned and cooked. You hit it with a little bit of hotsauce and it’s a taste of the west indies in your mouth. I’m lucky that I don’t live too far away and I’m able to just pop in whenever I want. If you’ve never had a double, please go do yourself a favor and get one. NOW!
