Nice little un-pretentious spot along Fulton where it seems stuff is springing up left and right. It’s nice they have some cocktails and some solid beers(if you like creamy beer, Peak’s Organic Stout, so freaking scrumptious). Pleasant additions of yee olde photograph booth of which you can use the complimentary pretzel sticks to make it look like you’re rolling with Virginia Slims.

My homegirl/home person and I came here the weekend before last for my Almost Birthday(yup, just turned 35. Be jealous!!!). She was not feeling that great and we had just come from Brooklyn Moon. We were looking for a low-key spot for a little drinky drink when I remembered that the lovely Interracial Couple I met at the hip-hop trivia night, recommended them. It was what you’d expect for Clinton Hill in 2015. We were the only Black people there besides the bouncer, the bartender, and one lone unhappy person at the bar. As to be expected, they were playing(mostly 90’s) rap and hip-hop that didn’t appear to ring a bell to the other patrons. I’m a white wine conossieur and I can’t recommended their wine. I’m learning that that’s common in Brooklyn though(no good white wine or no white wine at all). It’s up for debate whether or not we were the only queer people there, but I’d feel comfortable going there on a date. And I’d probably go back there either way. The back area is cute and I can pretty much walk there from my apt. I’m an easy customer though.

Nice craft cocktails. I also like the ambiance. It’s a good local spot to chill out in.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I’ve come here twice before and would have given 4 stars, but the last time I went I was disgusted that there was a baby in the bar. I have seen this before in Brooklyn, mainly in Park Slope during brunch but this is legit a BAR, no food served. WHYYYYYY is there a damn baby here?! Of course when I want to blow off some steam and get drunk in a bar I want to see and hear a baby! NOT … NOBABIESINTHEBAR!!! Get it together…

Cute and cozy spot! Simple drink menu — my fave was the Bee Sting: gin, honey and lime. Bartender was friendly, music was a mix of 90s hip hop and r&b which spawned a «who had better production values between tribe called quest and the roots?» debate between my NYC and Philly companions. LOL Only true complaint is the air conditioner in the back area was dripping black water over us.(Yuck!!!) With legionnaires going around NYC, they might wanna check that out.

My sis and I had a quick beer here while waiting for our table at Emily next door. Bartender was nice, prices were fine, they have outdoor space and they apparently have Mad Men parties on Sundays, so, I say: «YAYY!» I don’t have much more to rate them on, but the bathrooms were clean and to me, that says a lot. So, yeah. There you be…

Hanson Dry is literally 2 minutes walking from where I work, so my coworkers and I find ourselves here quite often. They have a great happy hour — $ 4 off all drafts(love the Founders Porter that they seem to have year round)… and some other specials as well. Also their cocktails($ 10) are really strong and tasty. They put out complimentary bowls of pretzels. And the backyard is small, but comfortable and quaint. Its really, really dark on inside. So unless you get a seat out back, not the best place to go on a sunny day!

Friendly service, tasty drinks, a back patio, and a photo booth. Hanson Dry gets crowded at night, but the service doesn’t suffer. I celebrated my birthday here a few years ago, and they named the nightly specialty cocktail after me. Always a fun time.

I have had the drinks here. Pretty laid back spot that’s a hidden treasure.

I used to live in the neighborhood and I love this place! Even when I moved I still frequently check this place out. Chris the owner is very friendly and has established strong relationships with his customers which makes them come back as regulars. Hanson Dry sells strong cocktails for $ 10. For the price two of them they will have you feeling tipsy. The ambiance is cute enough for a date or to unwind after a long work day. They have happy hour specials as well. The cute photo booth(it accepts credit cards) is a nice touch which you can also give a copy of the photo strip to the bartender which will put on the wall. If your looking for a candlelit dim bar with strong cocktails and a cool vibe I would definitely recommend this place!

Hanson Dry is a great standard bar and it hits the mark on so many levels – great drinks, varied seating, a backyard, and a photobooth. The bartenders are friendly and quick to refill your drink. I’ve come with friends and sat at the bar, and have come on dates and sat in the booths. It draws an older crowd(mid 20’s and up) so it never feels too rowdy or out of control.

I don’t *get* this place. I find Hanson Dry to be really tacky. One day, they’re attempting to be a sophisticated cocktail bar, another they’re playing terrible club music, and the next they’re a sports bar showing the latest game. All with rude bartenders who only pay attention to chatting with their friends instead of serving guests. Chris, however, is great, but it seems like this place is confused. I’d love to see them stick to one thing and really nail it because those«meh» cocktails and dirty beer taps aren’t winning me over.

Nice little spot to grab a drink while waiting for your table at Emily to open up. The house cocktails we tried, though, were not worth ordering, and I’m guessing that applies generally to the list — the prices are not too bad, but they’re using mostly bottom barrel liquor to make some pretty unappealing recipes(in my opinion). I was sitting right in front of one of the bartender’s work stations, so I had a good view: it was mostly low-level gin/rum/vodka, plus a healthy dose of cheapo De Kuyper liqueur and bottled sugary juice cocktails from Food Lion. Maybe we ordered poorly, but both of our drinks were not appealing – particularly something my girlfriend ordered with whiskey, coconut rum, grapefruit juice(again, juice cocktail from a deli bottle) and maybe something else? Not something I myself would order, but this tasted vile under anyone’s standards. That said, the service was pretty friendly and quick, the bar itself was crowded but not too crowded, and the beer list was pretty good. I’ll definitely try again if there’s a wait at Emily next time — just sticking to beer!

This use to be a great little spot but over time the place has gone down significantly. Go on a Friday and open the door and you are assaulted by the locker room smell. The prices have gone up as well. No thanks!

Remember that time that I lost my friend in the subway on the way to Brooklyn 48 hours after arriving in New York? With no phone or map. And no idea how to get to my location. And accidentally ended up at the end of the C line. And somehow found my way back to an appropriate station still with no idea how to get to my location. And then wandered into a little bar on Fulton where the owner drew me a mud map which avoided the notoriously cat-call-y corner and then even gave me a recommendation of another bar to hit up? Yeah that was a really good time. 5 stars for saving my life 5 stars for consideration of mud map 5 stars for the strongest gin and licor 43 cocktail I have ever downed

I only have 4 words. SEVENDOLLARDIRTYMARTINI Seriously, that’s a great price. Inside is kind of divey but still worth checking out. Be sure to stop by Emily for some pizza before or after getting a cocktail at Hanson Dry.

I guess you gotta evaluate some places based on whether or not you’d care if you never returned. Unfortunately, in this case, the answer to that hypothetical is no. I mean, it’s a good little hipster place in Brooklyn. Small and intimate, a really friendly barkeep, Turner Classic Movies playing on the single television, a menu of classic cocktails at $ 9 a piece, and a happy hour that features $ 4 drafts. But I found myself kinda bored, so my buddy and I left after one beer. Maybe it’s just because I’m not exactly a cocktail guy. But I do understand the allure. I imagine this as more of a local following place, more meaningful to those who actually live in the area. But to me, it’s not a destination bar. It’s just a solid small bar.

Do you like amazing cocktails? Enjoy some photobooth? Want to enjoy a drink in a lovely back patio? Watch some great Sunday night television? Chatting it up with a friendly staff? Strip for some extra cash? Ok that last one has nothing to do with Hanson Dry but everything else is dead on. Hanson Dry may not catch your eye from the outside but once you experience what they have inside and outback, I’m sure you’ll be coming back. They have your basic classic cocktails and some of their own special ones on the menu. Always have a great vibe in here. It’s never too packed and has some nice bartenders working there. If you find yourself strolling down Fulton, think about stopping in. Scratch that, just do it.

Um… Photo booth? Word. Although we couldn’t get it to work last night. It’s cool though, we still enjoyed our dirty dirty’s. Nice, chill crowd. Friendly staff. And ample seating room. Our go to spot for a nightcap.
