Hooooooly crap this place was bad, no idea why they have so many customers. Ordered a dish of roast duck and crispy pork over rice, $ 5.75. I got the order decently fast, everything looks fine, so far so good. I picked up one piece of the crispy pork, bit off the skin, started chewing, and an overwhelming taste of bitterness hit my mouth alongside the crunchiness. «Oh f*%@, they burnt the skin». Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse, I started eating the pork flesh underneath the skin and what hit my tongue then could only be described as a «foul porky taste» never before seen in any other crispy porks I’ve had in my life, and I’ve had at least three bushels of crispy pork across many cities, American and Asian. I then moved on to the roast duck, and it was quite salty and the flesh was dry like the Sahara desert. But hey, at least it wasn’t stinky and the taste wasn’t bad if you look past the salinity and the dryness. #silverlining All in all, don’t come here unless your taste buds are old and not sensitive. Now that I think about it, most of the clients in the restaurant were 45 and up. I gave them two stars instead of one because I somehow managed to finish the whole plate of food despite the disagreeable tastes, bravo.

My family wanted to dine in at a different restaurant the day before Mother’s Day. Unfortunately the restaurant was so packed and the wait was forever that we decided to order takeout from here. It was the only restaurant in 8th avenue that won’t take long to make the food. We ordered 5 dishes in total. We had the chicken with eggplant, oxtail with dry tofu skin, crispy duck, fried fish with tofu, and mix of shrimp, intestines, chicken, mushrooms, squid, tofu, vegetables. The Chicken with Eggplant was quite delicious. I was expecting it to be a savory kind of dish, but it had more a sweet taste it. The Oxtail with Tofu Skin was good dish too. The oxtail comes off the bone easily when you bite into it. I like the sauce. Great to put over rice. The Crispy Duck was very juicy, succulent, and delicious. My family really like the duck and thought it was one of the better tasting ducks in 8th ave. The Fried Fish with Tofu is usually one of my favorite dishes to eat, but I thought it was a bit too salty. The Mix dish that has Shrimp, Intestines, Chicken, Mushrooms, Squid, Tofu, and Vegetables was decent. Not the greatest and yet not the worst either. I like the mix of different stuff, but need something else to heighten the dish up. All in all, my family was very satisfied with the dinner. The two dishes my family really wants to order here again is the duck and the chicken with eggplant dishes. A decent rebound meal considering how our Mother’s Day started. My rating is a 3.5 stars.

Went here to order out 2 noodle soups; roast port with flat noodle and a wonton. Started eating it and then saw a small roach floating around the top on the wonton soup, DISGUSTING! Then we just ate the roast port noodle soup and low and behold, an even larger roach was in the soup GTFO here, had to close my eyes just to stop from throwing up… This place is ridiculously dirty to have roaches in their soups. This was evening of 04/01/2016, wish it was an April fools joke but no. Can’t hold it in, gotta vomit

Very good hole in the wall. Amazing smoked meats. We ordered the mei fun — lots of bean sprouts, good dry roasted pork(roasted meats their specialty) not greasy, perfectly cooked noodles lots of pickled peppers. The eggplant with garlic sauce was the best I tasted in a while, and the lo mein was authentic noodles, buddhist delight mostly mushrooms delighted by this crazy crunchy type no one really ate it so I’ll consider it average, seafood stew was classic except it was slightly better than usual because of that nice fresh brine taste. BTY the line for roasted meat pickup was 20 people deep that says a lot for this little place. Next time I’ll pickup some roasted meats and go. Don’t expect perfect waiter service that is not what this place is about.

Very disappointed dinning experience. While waiting for the food to come, saw a roach crawling on the wall. While eating my food, found a rubber band in my soup. After telling the waitress that there was a rubber band in my soup, she acted like its something normal that should have been in the soup. They did not offer me an exchange of food nor gave me a discount on the check. I should have taken a picture of the roach the rubber band in the food!!! This kind of restaurant should not be allow to operate! Please stay away from this restaurant !!!

We ordered a few dishes. Food wasn’t fresh and was full of MSG. Therefore, it was below average. Customer service is bad. Waitresses seemed very unhappy to be there. Will never go back!

We ordered a few dishes and a soup. All of them were just OK. The crispy fried fish was good. Pepper steak doesnt even have pepper or any type of taste. The worst dish was the Eggplant with Thai Sauce. We didnt expect to be deep fried. Full of thick greasy cornstarch. The Thai sauce came with it was used to dipped in. Only me and one other friend used the sauce. No one else did. Everyone doesnt like the fried eggplant. I ate 3 pieces and smothered it with the Thai sauce. The other friend just dipped once. So during in the middle of that night, I had a huge stomach ache. Worst I have experienced in my entire life. I felt like I was going to die. My face all pale. Full of sweat. Couldnt even stand. I asked my friends they were all OK. Only one friend that dipped once said his stomach was uncomfortable. Nothing serious. So basically, its the sauce. Probably dirty or something. So guys, dont bother going there.

Hmm? It’s called what? I have been here a few times and never had I realized it was called Hong Kong Boy. It doesn’t sound so cheeky in Chinese but when I saw the English translation, I immediately lol’ed and thought of putting it here. I need a Hong Kong Boy in my book. Food is standard Cantonese or Hong-Kongese, whatever floats your boat. I usually get the combos, the ones with soup and rice. I have never been disappointed by the food so definitely a solid spot. Service is typical Chinatown. That’s fine by me. A huge plus is that the restaurant is right off the subway station across the street. If I find myself too hungry to walk to other places in the area, this is the one.

I’ve lived in Hong Kong for 2 years, and I’m quite familiar with Flushing and Chinatown. This HK style BBQ items is a staple of cantonese cuisine, and I’ve had tons in my life. For awhile I thought the best in NYC couldn’t compare with the worst in HK, but then I found a few spots by asking around. This place was pretty solid, and I’m not factoring in the price which is amazing. These portions are very generous, and the taste is classic HK. These guys are great, so I’m glad I made the 25 minute motorcycle ride out here. Check it out if you’re in the mood for HK style grub.

Simply one of the worst businesses I’ve ever come across. Ordered a minced beef dish once, when my dish came, I asked them where my beef was. The waiter answers that the beef is minced into such tiny bits that I probably wouldn’t be able to see it or taste it. Really?

This little restaurant serves very authentic Chinese cuisine. We had goose, Hong Kong style fried rice and tofu with salty fish stew and we are loving it. We never tried the Mapo Tofu here because we believe that here apparently isn’t a Sichuan cuisine restaurant.

I ordered a wonton noodle with roast pork and roast duck. It tasted like any other Chinese restaurant, nothing special. The service was great. I do find it odd that this location seems to be cursed. No business can stay in business here. Weird, hope they did something with the feng shui before they opened.

Personally, i like this restaurant. The workers are nice and the owner as well. They make an effort to make your meal enjoyable. I have to admit they have went though a lot of changes for this restaurant, from U & Me café, to Lotus Leaf Rice to this, HK Tasty. I am glad they removed the sushi section cause it wasn’t so good and added the fresh roast meat by the window. If you have’t tried it yet, you should try some for take out, the meat here is perfectly cooked and even my father enjoys buying a few pounds for home dinner. The food here is good, but not what you expect sometimes. Their english menu isn’t translated properly sometimes. Also, this place gives off a nice homey feel to it, the décor is very causal but i have to agree that the seats are a bit uncomfortable. The food is very homey too, being a young college student living on my own, this is a nice inexpensive stop to eat if i miss home cook food but thats probably why this place has gotten bad reviews. FYI, the owner personally cooks some of the meals too which is awesome imo.

Worst place ever, very disappointed. Wasted $ 20 here. There was 3 other people eating here besides us. I ordered beef stew and carrots. It came out as beef fat/cartilage and soft radish. The mopo tofu had a rotten taste to it, we paid and left the food there after 10 minutes.

I think this restaurant location may be cursed. Nobody seems to be able to stay here for very long. And if my latest experience at HK Tasty is any indication, I’d be surprised if they make it for another 6 months. And here’s why: –The seats are uncomfortable metal chairs with thin pads. –I saw a guy spraying Raid in the kitchen. –The portions are TINY. –Beef options like the oxtail and black pepper steak were all bone, with just the tiniest amount of meat hanging off. It might be able to stay afloat based on how cheap some of the dishes are(cheapest is $ 5 – 6). This restaurant iteration also has a Chinese BBQ section(available to go), so maybe that’s actually worth patronizing. But for lunch or dinner? Stop being lazy and walk a few blocks deeper into Brooklyn Chinatown for a real meal.
