I came here for the chicken sandwich on a Friday for a quick lunch bite. The wait for the food was a little long but it was so worth it. Chicken fillet was perfect thickness with sweet coleslaw and pickles as the toppings. I opted for the green salad as a side, it was fresh and tasty as well. It’s a super chill place, looks more like a bar than a diner. I would come back to try more things on the menu and maybe have a couple beers.

This is the best food you can get in green point. Super reasonably priced //Steak sandwich//kale salad with chicken or hanger steak plate highly recommended /the best side is «hoppin john» black eyed peas with chopped zucchini and chopped tomatoes over rice. Great veggie options like fried okra poboy or nachos w all the fixings… The service is great all the staff are super cool, they play good music and have a full bar, food and drinks till midnight and a great happy hour. Easily the no brainer go to spot for food and drinks in green point … And the delivery is always on time and much appreciated from 11 to 11 weekdays and 5 to 11 weekends …

Love this place! Friendliest staff and the best food in Greenpoint. Took my girlfriend last night for drinks and dinner and had a great time. The bartender seemed happy to see us and as soon as we sat down the server brought over menus and gave us time to settle in. I ordered the steak sandwich with tots(the best ever. They are basically delicious crispy mashed potato balls) and my girlfriend ordered the kale salad, which is giant. The food came out quickly and was fantastic. Once we finished we sat and stayed for another hour drinking wine at the bar talking and watching taxi on the little tv. Such a pleasant experience. Great atmosphere and we will definitely be coming back

They were one of the only places delivering during the big snowstorm this winter which was awesome at a glance… Until we ordered through Grubhub, waited 2 hours(which is reasonable), then called them only to find out they weren’t answering their phone. Waited another hour calling periodically, only to finally have to call Grubhub, wait a half hour on the line since it was such a busy time for them, and then find out Jimmy’s had closed for the day hours ago and cancelled my order WITHNONOTIFICATION!!! I’m sorry but if you decide you can’t deliver you need to call every customer with a pending order, let them actually know their food isn’t coming, and apologize profusely. Beyond unacceptable that I had to find out myself from Grubhub hours after the fact… Never getting my business again.

My wife and I came here today for post-blizzard brunch. I still like the cozy space which reminds me of the good meals I had at Calyer. The food is no longer so good: I had the Country Benedict. The home fries were lukewarm, and the first egg was a little over. The second egg though was hardboiled and had some shell in it.

Good food, good prices, cozy room. Our waitress was a little green, but really sweet and always came when I gave her a look if we needed something. I’ll be back.

I hate when I accidentally order from here and not jimmys diner on union. I am never satisfied and delivery is never under an hour so you’re guaranteed cold food. Not to mention they must be against picking up the phone since never do.

I’ve been a fan of the original Jimmy’s on Union since it replaced Union Picnic. I really like the food. While I’m not sure that they make the best fried chicken in Brooklyn, they certainly make the best onion rings. But I’ve had enough of Jimmy’s employees and will no longer patronize either establishment. The last time I was in Jimmy’s on Union I had placed an order for pick-up. I walked into the restaurant and wasn’t greeted by either employee so I just went up to the counter to pick up my food. Instead of a quick in and out, I waited more than ten minutes while one employee complained to her friends that she had to pick up extra shifts and how unfair that was and how it was going to cut into her social life. The other employee just stood in front of me and kept packaging orders. When he finally spoke to me, I told him that I was starting to think I was invisible. He asked why. I told him that I had been standing there for ten minutes and no one acknowledged my presence. He just shrugged and handed me my order. Today, I was going to meet my girlfriend for breakfast at Jimmy’s on Calyer. She arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before me and was seated. She wanted a different table than the one she was given and when she inquired about a change she was told that the other tables were for larger parties. Completely understandable had the restaurant been busy but it wasn’t a huge deal. A few minutes later, a couple came in and they were seated at one of the tables reserved for the larger parties. When my girlfriend pointed that out — the server told her that if she didn’t like it — she could go somewhere else. We did. This was not the first time that we were treated rudely at Jimmy’s on Calyer but I can guarantee that it will be the last. I will definitely miss those delicious onion rings along with a few other favorites but I will not miss the lousy service.

Jimmy’s is the best brunch I have had in New York. I stopped by around noon on Saturday and was told there was a 30 minute wait. The place is super small(and cozy), so it was definitely understandable. There’s no place to wait inside, so we took a walk and when we came back, were immediately seated. The host was incredibly nice and attentive to every party. He seemed super apologetic that the three of us were squeezed into a two-person table, although we were honestly fine. As soon as a bigger table opened up, he even offered to let us change, which was very gracious. The coffee was good(although I probably could have had another refill), but the potato heaven was divine. The homemade tater tots will now be haunting my dreams!

My friend and I came to Jimmy’s for brunch last Saturday. We came around 1pm. I dont think they take reservations(there were a few people lined up for the table) but since there were 2 seats opened at the bar we just sat there. First, let me tell you we were in need for some Bloody Marys from the night before :) This place has one of the best Bloodies(in my opinion anyway)! I mean if you are not into a tower of garnish built on top of your beverage then you will love them too! :) The spiciness is right on the spot(lately i’ve been to places where they absolutely have no control over spiciness… like i’m talking about sending-a-drink-back-cuz-it-burns-my-brains kind of spicy. and i never send my drinks back)! A couple of green olives, or pickled green beans as a garnish is plenty(in my opinion). So 5 stars for great bloody! Food was awesome too! But don’t expect a diner-size portion :) In my opinion it was just enough to get you full but still leave you able to move and not falling into food coma after brunch haha But I already can see some of the whiny Unilocalers raging about tiny portions… smh… I had 3 scrambled eggs(i would just call it an omelette) with cheddar and mushrooms and home fries and biscuit with apple sauce/jam(??) I ate everything on my plate! It was amazing. Home fires tasted totally like something you would make at home! My friend ordered Country Benedict. Her stuff looked good. And she said she absolutely loved it. The whole ambiance was very Brooklyn-y, cute and cozy. Although bartender and staff seemed a bit stressed. I may be wrong but it seemed like there were only 2 people on the floor(one guy was a Jack of all trades — i saw him sitting people, cleaning tables, carrying out food and drinks) and 1 bartender and full house of patrons. So I don’t blame them for not getting into heavy personal convos hahaha This will be my new go-to spot. Have to come back check them out for dinner(HH deals look amazing!)

I ordered take out for the first time last week and my experience was quite nice. As soon as I walked in the waitress behind the bar immediately got my attention. I stated my order was to go and she grabbed a menu. I ordered the«Pulled Pork Plate» which came with 2 sides. I picked the collard greens and tator tots. I was also going to order some cornbread, but she told me that it comes with the platter. As I sat and waited, without asking she brought me a glass of water which I thought was nice. The wait was reasonable and I left. My first impression when I opened it was how much pulled pork was given. It was a nice amount. Nice portion of the collard greens as well. The cornbread piece was a little small for me-yet good. And those tator tots are huge! Everything tasted good too. I’m pretty picky when it comes to pulled pork. Looking at it I thought it would need more bbq sauce, but it didn’t. I added a little hot sauce but really didn’t need it. The flavors stood out on their own. The greens were good too. And even though it was small to my standards I really did enjoy the cornbread. Next time I will just order another piece. Those tots are amazing. I would almost rather call them little potato balls instead of tots. I have to say my entire first experience was great. The only thing that would make me happier is if Jimmy would add a nice Mac and cheese to the menu. Either way, I can’t wait to return again.

I just want to give this place a little love as we had a great time on the weekend. Not sure if it’s such a good thing how quiet it was for a saturday night, but that’s how it was. The nachos, sandwiches and chicken fingers were all superb, and the service was great. Would definitely return.

Lame service/kitchen/food. Why open a place if you have no better management of it that this? #pleasefailsoon Thanks Jimmy’s, for my room temp root beer float that was all foam. Thanks for sand-like grit in my tater tots that are flavorless on top of that. Thanks, Tabasco, or I wouldn’t have tasted anything. Here’s my tip for the server, move back in with your parents or win the lotto because you’re about as effective/emgaged as a 10th grade slacker.

My friends and I are visiting NY and we found this little gem as we were walking around Brooklyn. Food was excellent! I got the fried chicken and waffles and the waffles were amazing. Also their beer selection was great :)

We noticed Jimmy’s while out on a run in the neighborhood, so we put it on our list to check out. We headed in for brunch this past Sunday around noon. They didn’t seem to have a hostess, so I asked the bartender who told me that we could seat ourselves. We were able to snag the last open table inside – it has just been way too hot and humid to enjoy outdoor dining this summer. We started off with drinks – a Kentucky iced coffee for me and a beer for him. I have never put bourbon in my coffee before, but I just might start after this drink! We ordered the chicken biscuit, tater heaven, and a side of bacon with plans to share it all. The chicken biscuit was super tasty – I wish they gave you a little more of that delicious sausage gravy though! The tater tots in the tater heaven are homemade and wonderful! I love guacamole, but it seemed a little bit out of place in this dish. And the bacon – you can’t go wrong with bacon ever, but this bacon was baked and amazing. If I was rating Jimmy’s on the food, it would have four stars for sure, but I rate based on overall experience. Our server was also the bartender. The bartender just needed to bartend and not be serving. She came to our table to take our drink order, bring our drinks and take our order, and that was the last we saw of her. No one came to check on our food or see if we needed anything else, so we had to get up and borrow hot sauce from another table. We were trying to be patient, but after having clean plates for over half an hour, no one came over to bring our check. It was so bad that I joked about dining and dashing, which obviously is something I’d never do, but they were just so short staffed that no one came over to bring our check. I finally walked up to the bar and the person getting beers at that moment ignored me. I had to start talking to her first to ask for our check. The food and vibe of the place are awesome, but the service is the worst. They also have a big issue with not having a hostess because several parties stood at the door for a good while without being greeted by anyone only to just walk out, and I don’t blame them. The restaurant is pretty large and was crowded on a Sunday morning, and they only had three people serving. It was a pretty big disappoint because otherwise, it would be a great place. And another thing, they are cash only, but they do have an ATM inside.

LOVE the atmosphere here. Feels like a diner without the pastiche. Has a rustic vibe without being pretentious or hipster. Above all, it’s not tacky. The folksy oldie radio, the calming dim lighting, and the copious wood all contribute to the feeling. I’d describe it as a cross between a Colorado lodge and a Wyoming diner. The only sign of Brooklyn is the exposed brick(reminding you where you are without hitting you in the face). It has even a lonely feel, like you’re out on frontier or in the Great Plains and just want a solitary drink. When I came here in the afternoon it didn’t have a jovial atmosphere — it was subdued. The scarcity of people gave it a rather lonely atmosphere. Which is a treat when everywhere else has the veneer of «community.» Adding to the unexpected nature of the place, the lady who served me was exceedingly nice. No New York curtness and no Brooklyn snobbery. It’s a pleasant retreat from the dense urban environment.

After the bust of the Coffee & Tea expo we were hoping to salvage it with a nice brunch in Greenpoint. Walking along we stumbled on to Jimmy’s which looked like a good choice*. That said. My friend wanted to go so I relented. It claims to be the friendliest place but when we walked in there was no waitress in sight, no greetings nah dah. So we spotted some empty seats at the bar and made our way there. Here is where we got the friendly as touted. The bartender was great. Quickly, got us our water and menu. We went with the buffalo chicken on waffles and buttermilk pancakes with some Jimmy’s tater tots. The waffle was light, crispy and the spicy buffalo chicken had the right heat. The pancake was probably 12″ round with fruit. Eating at the bar was casual and made us forget about the expo. The food was satisfying. The bartender was good with topping our water. Jimmy’s is a good neighborhood diner for some Southern food. So sure, my friend will certainly be coming back. As for me, I still hold my ground. *I can tell you right up front. I don’t like going to cash only places. Suck it up. It is the cost of doing business and frankly, it is 2015 when we can pay with our phones and watches. There’s really on one reason: no money trail.

Jonathon: we stumbled across this place a few weeks ago and are hooked. The service is personable and damn good. We come for the ribs — prolly 4 times in the last two weeks. Tater tots are next level too. This place is our new favorite in Greenpoint. A few words from the gang: Manny: The ambiance makes me feel at home. Richie: I wanna come here more often. Peter: delicious ribs! Service fantastic especially after we were treated like dogs around the corner at forninos. Scottie: good Jeff: a+++ Rogan: I ate a lot of potatoes cooked many different ways. Top notch. Frank: wow Thanks Jimmy’s. We’ll see you next week.
