Whatever you do… MAKESUREYOUORDERTHEPOUNDCAKEATTHECOUNTER! ITISCRAZYGOOD! DON’T ORDERTHESTRAWBERRY(I MEANTHAT’S ALSOGOODLOL) ORDERTHEPLAINVANILLA! Now that I got that out the way lol John’s is good for all things breakfast. The pancakes are really big and fluffy, and always delish and they are my go to breakfast item. They also have good french toast here. The only thing they need to work on is hash browns but I can live without that. John’s is also great because they serve grits. Which is really rare in diners. So they get an extra star for that.

When I lived in the neighbor hood I used to hit John’s Twice a day. Once for breakfast, Little eggs and bacon and a tea and again in the afternoon for lunch, always switch it up for that second meal. With a couple of competing diners and a plethora of emerging eateries johns holds it own. its customer base is constant. Its a diner, You can get and eat whatever you want at a highly affordable price. I haven’t lived in the area for a couple years but whenever I’m on myrtle if I am close i head in for a tea and a quick bite. Bless up to the kind folk that work in there.

In a rapidly changing Brooklyn neighborhood, where new condos, developments, restaurants and bars seem to pop up every other day, John’s is a comforting reminder of what NY used to be, and hopefully what it will always be. A good Diner is a staple of community. A place where people of all ages and demographics can enjoy a nice, casual, delicious meal and some coffee with other community members. John’s is a bit smaller than your typical Diner, but since opening in ’95, has consistently served delicious Diner Food. Come hungry, and be prepared to take food home. The portions are big, the service is fast. If you’re looking for a great Diner, this is the spot.

The nickname for this place is «cheap johns», it’s really affordable and the food is decent. It’s a very small place, but it has everything you need and more. This place serves its purpose; fill up your belly without having to empty out your wallet. I get breakfasts on almost every visit, if I ever get lunch I get the grilled chicken teriyaki with vegetables.

I was trying to order over the phone and the man that I was talking to was extremely rude. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and then I asked him for the price of a breakfast sandwich without eggs and he sighed and then snapped at me, «CANYOUHURRYUPPLEASE? We are extremely busy, can’t you tell!!!» I am appalled. If I were standing in line at the restaurant, that man wouldn’t dare say that to me. But if I’m over the phone, suddenly I’m less of a person. I told the man, «No, not with that attitude. Cancel my order.» and hung up. I will NEVER order from here again. They messed up my last order and their food isn’t anything special anyways.

STILLLOVINIT! Always consistent. Always better than any other diner i go to in brooklyn, manhattan, or queens. Especially their spinach omelettes — thats the best. Always cheaper, too. Always faster and better service. Everyone who works here works their ass off and is a saint — especially Franklin. He’s always there and always says hi. I’ll be ready to move out of my humble apt off of myrtle ONLY when this gem closes and becomes another nasty ass condo.

I’ve been coming here for 8 years(even though I moved a few miles down the street a few years ago) and it never fails to be the best diner food I’ve ever had. Every weekend it’s the same regulars with some Pratt kids mixed in. The service is quick but expect to wait about 10 – 20 minutes for a table after 11am on a weekend. Highly recommended to anyone who finds themselves in the area.

For years I have loved this place. Whether I’m popping in for a coffee and buttered roll on an early weekend morning or getting delivery for lunch in the office you can’t beat the price or the friendliness. Delivery is quick and you always get what you ordered the way you ordered it and the guys could not be nicer. Love ‘em, love ‘em, love ‘em.

This is a moment where I will readily admit that I am letting my love for old-time-y New York Diner-ness get in the way of my usually more measured approach to rating. I just totally love this place. It’s got a great counter and a few booths, the menu is above the counter, there are glass displays with large home made pound cake, it’s only open for breakfast and lunch, and the space behind the counter is a flurry of shouted orders, slinging food, and plates shuffling in and out. It’s outrageously cheap. A cheeseburger with fries will cost you just a little over $ 5. Breakfast is even less. The food is… fine, not bad, not great, what you should expect for $ 5, but no worse. There are little surprises though: for example, it’s not on the menu, but if you ask they’ll make banana, chocolate chip pancakes that are quite good. The service is always prompt and sweet. It’s the one time when I don’t mind that the older men behind the counter call me «sweetheart», and«honey». This place just makes me feel good about everything every time I go, and if that does not deserve five stars, I really don’t know what does.

Found this place and couldn’t believe it. Been looking for the cheapest quality diner in Brooklyn for a minute. $ 3.25 for eggs, hasbrowns, and toast is according to my research thus far, the best deal in brooklynl. My girl and I grab breakfast for under ten bucks for the both of us. Besides the super cheapness, the food is great, the staff are attentive, and the restaurant is fun and Dinery. You can find me here almost every weekend. Edited to five stars, every time I come here great service and great food. Consistency!

I love this place. Plain and simple. If you want greasy spoon type food, you should try John’s. The folks are friendly and the food is good old school diner food. It tends to get jam packed on the weekends. For all the haters, please understand that John’s is not trying to be upscale, it is a simple little coffee shop. Plust they have an «A» rating. Thai 101 has a «B».(Chelsea A.)
