Karima did an amazing job. Best haircut I’ve gotten in AWHILE. She took her time to make sure it was just what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier! Thank you !

Karima is very knowledgeable and professional. Now, I gave her $$$ because I bake and I tell my customers that good cake isn’t cheap and cheap cake isn’t good the same can be applied here. I am thoroughly happy with the outcome of my coloring. She asked me if she would like for my hair to be treated and trim. I told her to cut off all of the dead ends and that she did 2 inches of it. I’ve gone to other salons and the stylist doesn’t want to cut my ends as I would lose the length. I told her to cut away. I love the massage chair. I had the pleasure of meeting her beautiful children all with very healthy hair and bubbly personalities. I will be back for my relaxer. Great area and ample street parking if you go at the right time.

I have been getting my hair done by Karima since inception of her business. Karima is not your typical stylist that only has an interest in blowing your hair, putting 1000 pins in it and sending you on your way. She is extremely knowledgeable about hair which allows you to be comfortable about the services you are receiving. Before any services are initiated, Karima will consult with you about your hair, style and products. She can be candid(with decorum) but you want an honest stylist that will not tell you what you want to hear but what is best for you. If you can not look like Beyoncé than that’s how it is. However, you are guaranteed to leave with a style you’ll be happy with. At times, you will receive wine and snack services, a massage chair while you wash, tasteful music, and great conversation. So you will be entertained and glamorous at the same time.

Well I came in for a wash and blow with a coupon for 20% off services. When presented she looked over it with distaste and said yes I’ll honor it after long looks of hesitance… A young girl started on my hair and never introduced herself. As she finish blowing out my hair karima proceeds to disgrace the practices of Dominican hair stylists by saying my hair definitely had been cut by «them». All the while laughing. She tells me I need a flatiron and never discuss price. Then I ask for a trim. As I check out she charges me for prices that are not posted or even discussed.

Basically had a good experience. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly and Karima makes an effort to be professional. Encountered some wait time, but it wasn’t horrible. I have experienced far worse. Karima is definitely knowledgable about hair and does a terrific job. Giving it four stars because I found it a little pricey for the services I received. Paid $ 100 with tip for at base a wash/condition, trim, and style. My hair is short and more labor intensive, I guess, and she hit my roots with the flatiron because I wanted to wait a bit longer for a relaxer. Would return to this shop for a relaxer, cut, or hair color because I feel that I could trust in the quality of what I am paying for, which is hard to come by. Just found it a little pricey for basic things. Think you can get the same quality for less somewhere else in that regard.

I came to Karima’s salon earlier this month for a full sew-in. I’m always a little skeptical about trying a new salon, but I had high hopes after reading good reviews– unfortunately that will be my first and last time letting her do my hair. First, I had a 4:30pm appointment and after I was 10 min late, I still had to wait 45 min for a wash. Karima was already doing a sew-in and did not do a consultation on my natural hair, two red flags that I ignored. I’m not a fan of stylists overbooking and I have NEVER been to a salon without the stylist sitting me in their chair for 5 min to briefly discuss my expectations. While sitting under the dryer with conditioner, Karima asked to see the hair she would be installing. I had one tube from Indique and half of a bundle from a previous sew-in. Now, I take responsibility for not bringing another bundle, but I’ve never needed more than 1.5−2 bundles. At this point, it’s 6:30pm Karima insists she cannot use hair from the previous sew-in(which was only used once) and says she needs 2 full bundles to do my hair. Her first solution was that I buy 2 bundles from her($ 320 total) and not use the hair from Indique. After discussing other options, I decided to buy one bundle from her($ 180) and use the bundle I brought with me. I finally sat in her chair around 9pm for her to start, after someone else braided my hair. Once the install was halfway done, literally half, she tells me that she ran out of hair. I don’t know how or why this happened when she told me 3 hrs prior 2 bundles would be enough. At this point, she tells me I need to come back the next afternoon for her to finish and buy a third bundle. I don’t live in Brooklyn, so I was forced to leave the salon(at 11pm) with my hair half done and spend the night at a friends house nearby, causing me to miss my train to DC. The next day Shawn finished my sew-in using the 2 bundles Karima started with, which was more than enough. He was quick, efficient and professional. Although I would never let Karima do my hair or recommend her services, Shawn is a stylist I trust. I’ve been to several«celebrity hair stylists» in NY and never received such poor service like I did at Karima’s. If you want to build a strong customer base and appeal to clients as a boutique salon, that level of service should be provided. Finally, the salon no longer honors the promotion, 20% off to new clients.

Didn’t have a good experience. Walked out of here paying $ 125.00 just for a color in the front part of my head, and a trim. Was very upset. And when I reached home my family asked me, did he wash your hair because I had a lot of flakes in my hair, and it’s still very itchy. Not very happy.

For starters, as soon as you walk into Karima Murphi Salon, it is a welcoming vibe. The décor is beautiful and what other salon do you know of that gives massages during a wash… dope. I came to get a weave installed, and I have noticed majority of hair salons only focus on the weave and not too concerned with the state that your natural hair is in. Karima cares for both and that is the way a hair stylist should be. They should have knowledge in all areas of hair styling to indeed be called a hair stylist and that indeed is what she is. Karima takes her time, and make sure you are satisfied with the final result. Of course I will be returning. Thanks Karima

This place is wonderful. I love my new color(and cut)! It is new, but not too over the top, although I am sure Karima can do wilder colors, if you want. The massage chair is great, the lighting lovely, and the service very professional. Also, the price is right. I will be back. Thanks!

Let me first start by saying, like many women, I am very particular with who does my hair. So when a coworker who is also very picky recommended Shawn, I figured I’d give the salon a shot as I was looking to get an ombré dye. I love my new hair! The ombré is blended well, and it’s just what I wanted. I’ve received many compliments on my hair since Shawn hooked me up. The salon is beautiful, clean and has this amazing massage chair while they’re washing your hair! Conveniently located near the Throop Ave. C train. Credit card machine was down, not sure if cash only. I definitely recommend this salon and will return soon. Thanks Shawn!

Okay, so I live around the corner of Karima Murphi Salon and I walk past it everyday since it opened. Today I decided that I wanted to get my hair done and do something drastic. However, I am natural and drastic to me was going to the local Dominican Salon for a wash and set. As I sat in the Dominican Salon I realized that I need to go somewhere where they are probably more knowledgeable about natural hair and able to give me the drastic change that I wanted without the need for creamy crack. So I finally set foot in Karima Murphi Salon. When I walked I it was very comfy and chic as I previously saw in passing. I was greeted by one of the stylist named Stacy. Stacy Gray to be exact. Her personality was very warm and welcoming and I instantly felt comfortable to trust her to do what ever it was she wanted to do to my hair. I did decided to do color. She picked a nice purple to coat the ends of my hair and shaped it to fit my face just right. Her conversation was very good as I felt like I knew her for years. She was very knowledgable and gave me information on how to take care of it while at home. I am so satisfied and will be returning. I have finally found a stylist and salon I can call home. Thank you again Stacy!

This salon is fabulous. I made an appointment for this afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised to see my stylist arrive on time. It’s important to mention this, because I’ve experienced other salons where I’ve had to wait for over two hours just to be seated. My stylist was Sean and he was really nice, wanted to know exactly how I wanted my hair done, and did I mention that he WORKED my haircut. This dude is fierce! I will definitely return.

The elegance of the salon is refreshing and the quality of the care is of high standard. Conveniently located at the B43 Throop Ave and Fulton St stop and the local C train Kingston-Throop. The Aveda salon is a full spectrum salon and Karima, the owner /stylist provides specialized care to all types of hair. I had my locks cared for but she caters to a multi-cultural clientele. I love the personal attention and care. The examples of her clients with weaves were impressive and indicative of her Karima’s experience and skills. You’ll love Karima’s Salon and your hair will too!
