Modifying my review. I ordered Kestane again and was very disappointed with the experience. My order took a lot longer than expected — which I would have been OK with — but when I finally did get it, they put a few chunks of chicken and some rice in a box and called it a day. Where were the veggies? It’s really not cool to charge $ 15 for an entrée and not give you everything included in that entrée. I felt like I was ripped off. Food was also cold and they threw two forks into the bag instead of a fork and knife — it was obvious that they were rushed and didn’t care at all about the order. I probably won’t order from here again.

Way overpriced for what you’re getting and the food is mediocre at best. Their lamb chops are among their worst dishes yet the most expensive. Arrived cold and very chewy. I felt chewing on a bicycle wheel, and the meat had little to no taste at all :( Whichever plate you end up with, 60% of it will be stuffed with lettuce, onions and pickled cabbage, 30% rice, the rest is meat. The $ 26 dish I ordered(tax and tip included) cannot possibly cost more than $ 3 to make at home. Be smart. Read the reviews.

I’ve ordered from here a few times and so far has been great. Delivery has been good and food comes hot. Food is fresh as well and the lamb of chops and lamb shish kabob is tender. The adana kabob is good too. The pizazz white bean salad is great. They are a little more on the pricier side compared to most places but still good food, so I don’t mind so much.

One of the most disgusting places I have ever eaten! The food is worse than canned dog food. Nothing is fresh, the pita is stale and the worst part are the guys that work there. Filthy filthy filthy! The place is dirty too! If you want badly over priced food kestane is your choice

Well, funny story. My girlfriend and I were actually on the way to buy pasta to eat for dinner. Walking by the kebab shop though, we said, «Wow. Kebabs sound way better.» So we went inside. Classic New York environment, all the cooks are so loud and jolly. You can really tell they’re cooking back there, it’s very authentic. She ordered the lamb, and I got falafel. Two diet cokes to wet our appetites. We sat down and were eating within 10 minutes. We didn’t even talk we ate so fast! The falafel was the best I’ve had in the neighborhood, she said the lamb was decent. We walked out and stopped by the corner store for M&M dessert.

One of my favorite places to order delivery from. Consistently good food, timely delivery, open late(and I live in LIC!).

Beyond disappointed. I wanted to love this place. The food was basically flavorless. We ordered the lamb swarma(dry and tasteless) chicken kebabs(only ok) and the falafel appetizer(best thing we ordered). Deliver was over an hour and when the deliver guy arrived he was quick to point out that I hadn’t tipped him on my credit card. All in all, it is a lot of food but it’s not very good compared to the other places we frequent. :(

The chicken gyro was delicious. Fresh vegetables and spicy sauce made for a delicious lunch.

Horrible service! Ordered through Seamless and waited 1.5 hrs, only to call and get a refund and no food! If you can’t handle the number of takeout orders I suggest you stop taking them. I’m very hungry!!!

Had the Gyro with some fries… Very fairly priced, food was good and tasted fresh, plenty of meat in the sandwich. ~ I’ve had a better gyro elsewhere, but for $ 7 I’m not complaining. I just wish their delivery minimum was a little lower. Food was delivered fast. — I’ll order from here again.

We order Ketane frequently on Seamless and they are fast, efficient, and serve some really good food. Their kabob platter is juicy and has great spices and flavoring. The eggplant dishes are good and their lamb gyro, chicken kebabs, and Doner Kebab are all generous. New York lacks good kebabs and this is a reliable option when you are in the mood.

I just ordered a falafel wrap from here and was so disappointed! On Seamless, it says the wrap comes with a bunch of stuff, but mine was missing the cabbage, spicy sauce and white sauce! And the tomato was mealy. Super misleading and they also don’t update their seamless very well so I waited 40 minutes to pick up a wrap that must have been done in under one minute.

Unbelievable– I just ordered from this place through Seamless but should have read the reviews here first. I ordered the Adana Kebab and the Kazandibi, which is a kind of thick pudding with a caramelized top. The kebab was inedible because the meat was so tough that I had to end up spitting it out. The kazandibi looked and tasted terrible, like a cream-colored blob with a strange tapioca-like texture– not appetizing at all. The kicker is that when I requested a refund, some a**hole named Mitch(the owner?) called me and went on a diatribe about how his food is the«best in the country,» flat out refused to refund my order, and then hung up on me. It might almost have been funny if it wasn’t so totally outrageous and completely preposterous. I’ve had great Turkish food from other places in NYC but would advise you to avoid this place like the plague.

Food is really so so. A bit expensive for what you get. What I want to know is why on earth is the sidewalk outside the restaurant like an oil slick? Like what in the world are you guys throwing out? Every restaurant in NYC has to throw out garbage on their sidewalk, but the sidewalk in front of your restaurant is ridiculous. It looks like you been giving cars oil changes in the sidewalk! Wtf?!?

Horrible experience. Owner was terribly rude, and made numerous belittling and snide comments to me whilst placing my order, and continued to berate me up to the point that I received my order and walked out while he still slung rude remarks. The food was even worse than his attitude; grape leaves were horrible! Sickly-sweet and lacking any flavour or spice. Mushy, cold, gross. The gyro sandwich I ordered was so oily it leaked through the bag AND the foil and got on my rug! The lamb was horrible, bland, oily, and primarily fatty tissue. Paired with a thin, watery, tasteless attempt at tsatziki. Horrible horrible experience. The owner seems to have no interest in keeping his customers at all, and clearly doesn’t care about serving quality mid-eastern cuisine.

Delicious and cheap. Try the Chicken Shish Kabob Platter or the Vegetable Casserole for a giant filling meal. They’re one of the best places for reliable, quick delivery. Not a particularly great place to dine-in, it’s like a greasy spoon diner in the back. Bonus tip: Kestane(pronounced«KES-tah-nay») means chestnut in Turkish!

What a standout place for the promotion of the superiority of Turkish cooking. Kestane — which means ‘chestnut’ in Turkish — might seem like a bog standard Arabic kebab place from the outside. That’s wrong. For a lesson in the diversity of the cuisine in the Middle East, eat at this place back-to-back from its nearby cousin off the L train, where the proprietors are from Palestine. At Oasis, the pita and hummus are king. Here at Kestane, meat is very much the center of attention here. For $ 14, the Astana Kebab platter features an embarrassment of meats and salad. There are two succulent kebabs, richly spiced and flame grilled to order. Why is this not available on every block? The other side of the plate is occupied by beet, onion and lettuce salads, all of which are there merely to provide contrast with the protein. Take the rice off the place you have perhaps the most decant Atkins-compliment dinner in history. Here’s something completed unexpected — the baba is one of the best I’ve ever had. It’s sweeter and smoother than you usually find it in the Levant, minus any bitterness that sometimes creeps in. My parents and I split a memorable portion with fresh baked bread while waiting for a seat at the next door Greenpoint Seafood Company. This place is no secret — there was a rollicking Seamless and takeout business going on when I stopped in on a weeknight. But plan to dine in, with the meat fresh off the grill, and you might just be able to enjoy this delicacy all to yourself.

The customer service here is terrible. The owners do not know how to treat customers. In every business, the number 1 priority is customer satisfaction. 1. The online menu has different prices than what they consider the real menu. Wtf is that all about? How are you going to have the same menu with different prices. 2. They keep getting my apartment number wrong and refuses to correct it. 3. My delivery was missing yogurt sauce so I called to ask if another driver was close by to bring it. After all, all Greek, Halal or Turkish food is nothing without the yogurt sauce. First he hangs up on me. After I call back, he told me he put it in. I said he didn’t cause it’s not there. He follows with his«Taken» voice, «What makes you think I didn’t put it in?» Wtf??? Are you kidding me? Cause I’m staring in the bag and see no yogurt and no hot sauce. He cops a major attitude. I care less about the yogurt than the way he treats customers. The owners are not super friendly as other reviews suggests. They are rude as hell. The food is just ok. Waste of money if you ask me. There are much better places. The only good thing is the understanding delivery guy. He knows how to treat and talk to people. Would never order or go back again. Not until I get my apology.

Whoever was answering the phones for delivery tonight needs to get schooled about customer service big time. I understand your place is not quite fine dining but cheap eats does not necessarily mean no quality of service. Especially if you’re offering delivery service. Kestane is on seamless. They also have their own website where you can place your order. We noticed the price differences between the two. Red Lentil soup is $ 4 on their website and $ 5 on seamless. A significant 25% difference. Why not save a few dollars and order through their site right? Ok. Not ok. Site has some glitch going on and it wasn’t letting us pay with a card. Just PayPal(another story saved for another time lol). Bf finally decided to go Jurassic and used the telephone to place our order. Guy on the other end couldn’t quite explain the reason for price difference but definitely charges us their seamless prices. We got their lamb and chicken kebab platters and red lentil soup. Platters comes with rice and some grilled vegetables. They also include pita breads in a separate aluminum wrap. Food is at best mediocre and ok for a rainy night in. Having the yogurt sauce would have elevated it to probably a half star, but they forgot to include it in our bag. Delivery guy wasn’t quite helpful when we called him a few seconds before he left the building but he really is not the problem. We decided to call again to let the store know we need the yogurt sauce and to maybe get it delivered or at least get a sincere apology for forgetting it. Same guy answered the phone, bf told him that we did not get it in the bag and I wasn’t quite sure what he said but bf was on the phone thinking he was put on hold but apparently guy hung up on him. A tad unprofessional but ok, maybe they got cut(yea, ok). Another phone call and the same guy answers with a «how do you know it’s not in the bag? I packed it myself!» What? Are you serious? What would we get from lying? A couple of extra small yogurts? Smh. Rude and unprofessional. I guess that’s the last delivery they’ll be making to us.

Typical Middle Eastern menu with a Turkish spin on things here. I had the Chicken Shawarma in a pita for $ 7. Having a wrap or a plate is another option. Big portions and good quality with a solid amount of meat. Will be back to try some of the other menu options.
