I came here with a friend about 3 weeks ago, on a Thursday. I’d seen this place on Instagram a few times and had also seen it on Brooklyn Magazine’s list of Best New Brooklyn Bars of 2015, so I was excited to try it out! We got there at around 8 pm and it was packed and loud. It’s a small bar, with maybe 7 seats by the windows at the front, two tables that seat 8 people each, and bar that seats 10 or so. There is also a large circular booth in the back that’s good for groups. They also have outdoor seating. The décor is cute and minimal. The walls are white with white exposed brick and some plants hanging on the wall. The chairs are light pink and the booth is green, which makes the space really cute! The bathroom is teal with tiles, giving it a retro vibe. I don’t remember what we ordered, but both drinks were really good. I didn’t feel like mine had much alcohol in it, but it tasted great! Cocktails are $ 10. We each also got a glass of white wine, which came in a generous serving. I think they only have one white, one red, and a few types of beer. I’d say King Tai is a great place to come with one or two friends or with a significant other who you’ve been with for a while. It’s not a good place for groups, due to the lack of seating. It’s also not a good first date place, or even a second date. The main kind of seating is the communal seating at the tables, and you’re sitting way too close to other people. I’m pretty sure we sat next to a girl and guy on maybe their second date, and it was awkward. It’s loud, so you’re having to half yell everything you say. We heard pretty much everything they said. I’d give the cocktails 4 stars and the décor a 5. The bartender was a bit slow and it took us a while to order our cocktails, but then again, he was the only one working on a busy Thursday night.

Great beer selection even if it’s not on draft. Empanadas are amazing! Handsome bartenders and good music., how can anyone complain

It seems like they’ve lowered the prices of their house cocktails to $ 10 which is completely reasonable! I recommend the«Lo Siento, Charo» with mezcal.

King tai is a small neighbourhood bar on the corner of Bergen st and Nostrand ave. They have full bar and nice signature cocktail menu. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, but they can be lot faster. This bar can be really busy on weekends. Cocktails are strong and not expensive, well liquors and beer is ¾$, stoli and stoli flavors 5 $. Always great atmosphere with relaxed and friendly people.

I LOVE this place — and also found a cocktail thats a face of mine now. It’s called«Lo siento» and it was made by the oh-so-awesome bartender named YO(how cool is that name?). Very cute décor — mostly white with some prints. They have a front, outdoor seating and full bar. I cant wait to visit again and very happy that it’s in my neighborhood. thanks Yo!

Expertly crafted cocktails and well priced drinks in a great atmosphere. The bartenders here know how to make a mean drink and the clientele is consistently interesting and laid back. Their happy hour can’t be beat but their house cocktails are a must.

What a cool ass bar. Bar tenders are chill, vibe is energizing, and everyone’s just looking to have a good time. The stand-alone building is really unique for this area, and everything about the Miami-inspired interior with consciously placed remnants of the asian fish market it used to be, are all well done. I always get a good feeling when I see the purple glow of the neon signage as I turn the corner onto Bergen St. King Tai makes Brooklyn a better place.

King Tai is hands down the best little bar in Crown Heights. Great vibe, great drinks, cute boys

My boyfriend and I walked in and immediately thought, «Are we still in Crown Heights?!» This lovely little bar(which isn’t quite so little) opened up just five months ago, and it’s gorgeous. The long wooden bar counter isn’t sticky or grimy, and the white trim everywhere reminded me of the Florida Keys or Miami. It was perfect for my $ 9 piña colada – yes, a wonderfully made $ 9 cocktail! They have a pretty generous beer menu, and a good range of tropical-y cocktails. The bartenders were friendly and were on top of it all. With plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, this looks like it’s already on its way to the neighborhood’s best new hotspot.

My favorite bar. Great cocktails(literally all 5 of their specials), great bartenders, great open vibe. Most Brooklyn places seem to be competing for darkest dungeon, this place is refreshingly bright.

Wowwwww can you please put up some tapestries or egg crate foam panels on the ceiling? The acoustics in here are horrible and it’s impossible to have a conversation unless you are yelling into the ear of the person next to you. Drinks are good though. Literally all this place needs is some cushions.

Looooooooooooove this spot! A huge break from the bazillion dollar cocktails I’ve had to deal with Manhattan. The bartenders/owners are awesome even in a huge crowd like the one we had on Saturday. My two friends and I popped in to King Tai to the surprise of a welcoming birthday party. The hosts of the party were friends with the owners(it’s very much a neighborhood spot) and they kindly invited us to participate in their drink specials. I have to admit that as much as I loved the vibe, the people, and the prices the drinks were good not great. They were strong, though! I’ll definitely be back here. I hope that one day I’ll make forever friends with the bartenders, too!

I’m a fan. The place is cute. Nice décor. I could see meeting up with friends for drinks or sheepishly sipping on cocktails while making googoo eyes on a date. Whatever you like. The bartender was friendly and flexible as we tried to make decisions. The one drawback for me is that they don’t serve food but my understanding is that they sometimes have snacks and are otherwise cool with food being brought in if needed. They also played cool music– such an important factor for a bar. Don’t expect to come here and dance on the table(I don’t think. Lol), but do come to have a few drinks in a cool setting. Check– this place is officially added on my list of go to watering holes.

After a typical New York week, I needed some girl time with a friend, and that meant getting drinks. I picked King Tai since it’s close to both of us and pretty new, and who doesn’t like new things? We sat at the bar and were treated very well – the bartenders were friendly and kept the booze coming. The vibe on a Thursday night was laid back and welcoming – a lot groups mingling and mixing. The communal tables were packed, as was the fun corner booth, and the décor makes you think you’re on vacation. All good elements for a fun evening. I had the Palo Chino, which tasted like a Paloma with sass. At $ 9 each, you can stand to order more that one. They also have a decent wine selection, and a beer and shot combo when you need that extra boost for $ 6. Tamales are also kept in a warming drawer behind the bar, so there is something to snack on. I could see this place getting rowdy on a Friday or Saturday night. Next time you need to escape, come here!

Dig it. King Tai is a fun little bar with a Miami Vibe. I recommend the earlier happy hour they have until 8pm where a beer is about $ 4 and it gets nice light from the big windows that face Bergen. It’s got a nice unpretentious feel. You gotta check out the aqua green bathroom too.

Welcome to Crown Heights, King Tai! Cute, modern place in a slowly blossoming neighborhood with friendly, handsome bartenders and good drink prices($ 9). I have to note that two of the drinks had vinegar as one of their main ingredients, which I’ve never seen before and really liked. Then again, I drink apple cider vinegar all the time. This feels like a good place to meet people in the area and feels cool without the meat market vibe.

What a beautiful, cozy spot in Crown Heights! I want to move to the neighborhood just so I can make this my new go-to. Apparently King Tai is new on the scene, but they are doing things right. Great lighting and white interior reminds me of the former Elsa in the East Village. $ 5 well drinks and $ 9 house specialties are reasonable. $ 2 snacks are a nice addition. My only complaint is the house piña colada, which featured cream, was a little flat. I wonder if it could have benefited from an egg white addition, but I’m no bartender :)

My wife and I dropped in by chance early on a Saturday. We were attracted by the fetching exterior and the reasonably quiet location just off Nostrand. The interior is charming with a retro vibe and the music was well chosen covering the 60’s to the present. My wife and I are older than all the patrons, but we felt welcome. I think the owners were tending bar and were doing a good job keeping up. The owners have a sense of humor for sure cause they took the name of the failed Chinese restaurant that was there, and even put an old photo on their website. They must have entirely remodeled the building as it looks newly built. For some reason, my wife loved the restroom. I had a couple of drinks from their«signature» choices, which I enjoyed. My wife stuck to wine and was pleased. The prices were very fair. My only complaint is that there were no snacks. I believe they don’t plan to serve hot meals, but some beer nuts, pretzels, wasabi peas, peanuts or chips would have been welcome. They’ve recently opened, so I expect they’ll sort that. I definitely recommend King Tai. I’ll be back.

A fantastic addition to the neighborhood. The space, thankfully far from«typical Brooklyn décor,» is reminiscent of the Fountain Coffee Room in the Beverly Hills Hotel(1940s/deco/L.A.-Miami vibe) and is stunning. Somehow it is very designed, and yet still manages to feel warm and inviting.(Bonus points for the awesome green and black tiled bathroom, with perfect era-specific details.) The service was impeccable, with the friendly and knowledgeable owner/bartender keeping us entertained throughout the evening. Music was a relaxed mix of not-too-loud ‘90s tunes that probably suited the crowd, which varied in ages. It was fun, but in the background enough to be able to easily maintain a conversation. Last, but not least: good drinks! The cocktails were creative and summery, not too sweet, and went with the Miami feel. A wide variety of beer was on offer, both on tap and in bottles and cans. The wines were mostly from Spain, which I love. Best of all, the price points for everything were spot on. Wines were $ 8 and beer ranged from $ 6 for a pint of Guinness to $ 3 for a can of Genesee Cream Ale. House cocktails are $ 9. Highly recommended! (Edit: Apparently there are savory pies available on occasion, but they were out. I look forward to these.)
