I came here on a Quiet Monday afternoon. The customer service is horrible. The short Hispanic girl who seated us kept ignoring us. She was extremely attentive to ‘caucasians’ I notice. She refilled their waters and constantly checked how they’re doing. For my husband and I, she just took our order and she disappeared. It took them over half and hour to make 2 sandwiches. On top of that, I want to order a drink, but she is nowhere to be found. When I see her, she responds ‘I was very busy before’ but I saw her busy socializing. She was obviously feeling guilty because I wasn’t even questioning her. The people who own and work at this restaurant is absolutely racist. The waitress needs to stop giving African Americans dirty look and learn to respect and treat people equally. This is after all an African American and Caribbean neighborhood. If you want business, learn to respect people. If I have the option of 0 stars, I would’ve done it.

Extrem lautes Restaurant, wenige Gehminuten von der Fulton Street Mall, Brooklyn, entfernt. Schneller und effizienter Service, aber Ohrenstöpsel wären empfehlenswert. Übersichtliche Portionen.

I pretty much come here with my co workers for the sole purpose of happy hour. Who can pass up a bargain? $ 4 – 5 drafts, $ 1 oysters? damn! If you’re not a fan of oysters, then i’m sorry you are missing out on quite the bargain! Besides the happy hour, I do come here in the morning for breakfast. Very reasonable portions and the sort. I can’t remember off the top of my head so I’ll have to update this post some other time.

I come to this place all the time mainly because of its convenient location in metrotech, making it one of the closest bars to school — and let’s face it, who doesn’t need a good drink after an analytical chemistry lab. The happy hour here is decent with $ 7 cocktails and $ 5-$ 6 beer and $ 6-$ 9 dollar food deals. It’s great if you get here when happy hour starts, but past 6pm and it’s going to be very crowded. But honestly most bars in this area is going to be crowded during happy hour. This is also a popular lunch spot and they have great salads if you’re willing to spend a little more than $ 10. The Mac and cheese is also filling and tasty even though it looks like a small dish. Try to avoid the weekday lunch crowd by coming around 1 – 1:30pm because anytime before that near noon it will be filled with business workers from the buildings nearby. The takeout section is also convenient if the sit down area is too crowded. The coffee and tea is good but very expensive so only go here If you want to spend around $ 4 for a cup.

Its an ok place. Nothing special. Cool for students after class because of the convinience of the location. If you come here, try the chicken lolipops. A mix of chicken(kinf od buffalo wings) mixed with what I think was caramel? I don’t know. But a sauce that tastes amazing. Definitely worth it.

Food was okay… wait staff was excellent. Oysters were mediocre. Rated his food a 5 and I gave mine a 2… so it’s an average rated place.

One of my favorites. I go there mostly for coffee and sometimes breakfast in the mornings. But, have had dinner and drinks at the bar here a few times as well. Overall, it’s a friendly atmosphere, great service, and tasty French fare. If you stop by for coffee make sure to try the Spanish Latte. It’s incredible — full of strong flavor and a nice sweet kick if you like that sort of thing. And if you want to indulge on the weekend try their egg croissant sandwich. To die for. It comes with a side salad so you don’t feel so guilty. Heart La Défense

My coworkers treated me and the new intern out for some lunch. This restaurant is really busy during lunch hours since it is located in a very busy work area in Brooklyn. I just ordered Smoked grilled chicken on ciabatta with tomato, avocado, greens and chipotle mayonnaise. The sandwich also comes with a side salad and another choice of a side. I got it with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was decent. Nothing bad about it. Flavor was okay. Nothing too crazy about the sandwich. It was filling. The sweet potato fries were crispy, sweet, and tasted great. Popular option around the work area to get food here.

Like others recently, I’m also stymied by the previous so-so reviews for La Defense. My husband & I took my Mom for lunch here last Friday. I was admittedly disappointed when we were told that brunch ended at 11. So don’t go in around 12 thinking that you can enjoy a leisurely brunch… I’m not a tad bitter about this. ;) Despite that, we had a lovely time. The food was absolutely delicious! My husband and I shared the Nicoise Salad(fresh marinated tuna tataki with olives, tomatoes, green beans, artichokes, potatoes, hardboiled eggs and a savory vinaigrette.) At $ 14.50, it wasn’t inexpensive per se, but what is really«inexpensive» in New York besides a hot dog on the street? My Mom ordered the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Oil Mac and Cheese($ 10.50.) It’s served with a house side salad. I tried hers and it was my kind of comfort food: warm, cheesy, filling. Two thumbs up there too. She also had a hot chai tea, so our bill totaled out to $ 29.45 with tax. We enjoyed La Defense! If I’m ever back in the Metrotech area of downtown Brooklyn, maybe I’ll get to try that brunch of theirs. :)

I’m quite surprised to see mediocre reviews for this establishment. Especially for the neighborhood, which is rife with fast-food fare, this is a delicious option! As a caveat, my experience is based on the to-go section, as I have not dined in their table service area. In terms of options in MetroTech Center, La Defense stands out due to its delicious espresso drinks and pastries, quality made-to-order salads, and great lunch options. In terms of lunch options, the salads are made-to-order, and there a variety of fresh ingredient options, and delicious protein add-ons(salmon, chicken, steak). The panini options are tasty(although albeit much less healthy). They also offer rotating hot foods options, such as grilled chicken, burgers, and grilled fish. From what I’ve seen, this is more popular for breakfast and lunch than dinner, since the surrounding area is a major business park. The staff here are quite friendly, and their positive attitude really makes a difference. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Great little gem nestled in metrotech. Perfect for a quick coffee or an after work beer/cocktail. Coffee prices are consistent with what the neighborhood has to offer and the baristas are great. Happy hour is a steal with beers ranging from $ 3-$ 5. The bartenders are attentive and super friendly. They offer small bites, can’t say I’ve tried, but they always smell/look delicious. It’s a small place and both the café and bar remembers their customers.

Fantastic for breakfast: quick service and delicious breakfast platter. They were able to add spinach and cheese to my eggs and I loved that it came with potatoes and toast. Just ok for lunch: the mushroom ravioli I ordered had only 4 pieces! Although it tasted fine, I left pretty hungry. Taking another star off as its a bit overpriced and not among the top of the list for lunch in that area.

This place has great food. Just stood on line for Breakfast at 10:55. Got to counter at 11:00. Guy was on phone for 2 minutest. When asked about Breakfast was told it was to late since they close at 11:00. Very frustrating. Will raise review if someone from management explains the lack of effort to make customers happy. Note sit down service has always been good and the food is tasty.

I have been to this place twice already but forgot to checkin first time around. This is nice spot close to my work and this time around we went for a team lunch. I must say its a very nice place for a big group. The décor i dont care about too much, it looks like someone started the interior décor and a totally different person finished the work. It’s kind of weird not even corky but weird. Random things at random places. Coming to food, i had the veggie burger in both visits because they dont have much options for veggie but actually their menu is very short so i guess its ok. But they do have good veggie burger, no complaints about it. I liked the pattie and the fub taates realky fresh, although i willl recoomend their sweet potato fries over regular ones, unfortunately they didnt had sweet potato fries in our recent visit anyhow the prices are resonable and the food is decent. Will recomend it for a casual lunch seating. Lets wait for the next visit if they changed something in the menu. Hopefully… Chao

Lapin and I have been to this airy French eatery several times. The eatery has an indoor restaurant, a bakery that sells pastries, coffee, and premade sandwiches and outdoor eating area. The bakery has really good almond croissants which usually sell out pretty quickly. Their coffee and chocolate chip cookies are okay too. Our last visit, we decided to have brunch. Our waiter who was French seemed to have a hard time understanding us but he was very friendly. I ordered the La Defense breakfast platter(3 Eggs any style with sautéed potatoes, roasted tomatoes, greens and toast). It came with plenty of food but it was just average. The potatoes were my favorite part but it could have done with a bit more salt/flavor. Lapin ordered the Eggs norvegienne(poached eggs with smoked salmon and a cilantro/lemon hollandaise on bilinis served with confit tomato and mesclun). He thought it was okay as well. We both thought the food was a bit underwhelming. We probably didn’t order the best things off the menu but right now we will just stick to the delicious almond croissants.

Not a huge fan. I’ve stopped by because they’re conveniently located on the way to the subway station. This is a review of their café only: House coffee: It’s la colombe, which some may love. Dark roasts don’t match well with me as I hate the bitter aftertaste reminiscent of burnt coffee. In all reality it may have been slightly burnt also. Almond milk cappuccino: I struggle to describe its taste. I’ll think about it while I write what I think may be the problem… Ratio of milk: espresso is off. Way too much milk for a pretty big sized-small cup. I threw away half of it, and I never throw away caffeine… I need it. Didn’t need the off putting, overwhelming amount of milk to contribute to my morning belly. It did have loads of foam… And that’s a plus for me. PSA: They have DOUGH donuts, which are my favorite.

When this spot first opened I was not a fan. It came off as pretentious, overpriced, and all those other negative adjectives. But when my co-worker recently told me about their affordable and healthy breakfast options, I decided to give them another chance. This was a smart move. The egg and salad breakfast meal is on point. You can add a few other veggie, cheese, and meat items at extra cost(my first time I added tomatoes), but not too pricey unless you get avocado or something. They also have dougnuts for Dough, and some special deal if you get a coffee with it, but I didn’t mess with that. On my second trip I got a croissant and egg with some veggies, which was very good too, along with a salad. My last visit however was disappointing as they closed early that day… literally as I was walking in. No signage saying they were closing early, just blop. This is where my coveted 5-star review falls away(okay, maybe not ‘coveted’ but I don’t just dole those out!). Most of my visits here have been on Sundays, and the young lady working the counter was truly on-point…so helpful and kind. I don’t recall her name, but you’ll probably know her if you visit at that time.

I was recommended this place by a colleague as a convenient place for lunch as it was right near my afternoon meeting. I probably wouldn’t take a client there as its not that fancy but it was more than adequate for me and my co-workers! Staff were very helpful, menu was just big enough to give a few options but not too big that you worried they’re a «jack of all trades». I went for a quiche and I bought the winning ticket. The pastry was golden delicious and the Lorraine filling(bacon, cheese) was also pretty fantastic — although I defy anyone to find a bacon/cheese combo that isn’t… My colleagues had the Croque Madame and chicken sandwich respectively which both looked and apparently tasted good also. They came with a choice of house or sweet potato fries and both varieties passed the taste test too. All in all a nice little sit down lunch spot if you’re in the area, but nothing special décor/ambiance wise so don’t take a hot date, important client or a special trip out there.

I’ve rounded up a half a star despite the fact that the waiter got my brunch order wrong and then it arrived overcooked, and after we had to preemptively ask for a refill of coffee. My veggie cassoulet with eggs was as stated above, overcrisped and overcooked, but still pretty tasty. BF’s Norwegian inspired benedict was pretty good. Coffee was very good. Service was meh, but sitting outside in wonderful weather makes up for most complaints.

This place is great for brunch. We came in with a large amount of people so we made reservations in advance especially for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Vegetable Coulette. It’s a mix of vegetables with two sunny side up eggs, cheese, and a slice of bread. It was quite filling and very flavorful. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our large group.

First time here. Saturday around noon. Good music, prompt and attentive service. I had the ricotta pancakes –really good, but waaaaaay smaller than I thought they would be. My cousin had a caesar salad with salmon. Decent sized salad, but with salmon pieces rather than a nice fillet… but whatevs. Tea choices are pretty good. Cocktails even better. Im on my 3rd la Parisienne :)

Dommage.:/
