Leif Ericson Park

It was a nice park until all the Asian people came. I am not racist but the Chinese people around this area don’t know how to keep anything clean especially the older folks. I think Trump should build a wall around this park and keep the Asians out.

Nice children playground in the park. There are popular swings and etc. Thank you for maintaining this park.

The park is okay, but very crowded they have been trying to build a bathroom for over an year now and they still haven’t finished .when they do finish constructing the bathroom it’ll be very filthy after a month because of the population

My local park so I have no choice but to learn to love it. However, there are many things to love about the park aside from how big it is. They have a volley ball court, basketball courts, and just a lot of open space. There’s also many options for food in the area. It is however, very dirty.

The park has been under construction for almost a year and I see they’re planning toadd bathrooms which I’m excited about. It’s kind of noisy all day and night, but it’s good for kids and elderlies to meet, hang out, and rest after grocery shopping. I do have small walks around the park a few times a week.
It’s pretty convenient for a park since there’s a supermarket, delis, and a library nearby so the park is never empty unless you count after dusk.

One of the biggest park around the area, always packed with people on the weekends. It’s one of the bigger parks around, but also the dirtiest! People here disregard the trash cans, garbage is laying all around, well these parents here don’t mind their children playing in it anyway. Too much trees and not enough recreation staff cleaning up, therefore on top of the garbage laying around, theres leaves and branches everywhere.
Their basketball, and volleyball area is still closed for construction so no ball playing anytime soon.
Down by the middle is the sprinkler area, much cleaner than the playground, nice and lots of seating with a big open space. It’s also one of the better spots with a better view with all the greens surrounding the area. If you stop by during the earlier hours, you would see the elders doing tai chi, playing chess, or the ladies dancing with swords and pretty red fans.
Towards the Fort Hamilton Pkwy side is the workout and jogging area. Don’t like the fact they leave the garbage tank in the jogging track, the nasty garbage juice is leaked all over the pavement. The black rubber park mats in the workout space are all uneven due to the weeds growing underneath.

Has one of the biggest water playground area compared to other neighborhood parks. Also has a excerise area, great for short workouts, jogging.

It’s a nice place to go for a walk, but once in a while I encounter a few strange things…
Once, near the entrance of the park there was this small area surrounded by flowers and trees and i decided to go inside to see but… i encountered 2 people making out. I wasn’t exactly sure what they were doing but it was so strange and i ran out of there.
Another time i was walking home from 8^th avenue and this man was sleeping on the bench and he started touching himself… There are a lot of strange things that happen in that park that makes me feel uncomfortable going there.
I usually take a walk on the outskirts or the park. Its nice during the winter since there are less screaming children.

This park caters to children… this place is always fully summer/​spring/​fall/​winter… I guess the best part about this is children enjoying there fun outdoor times with the parks play sets… park is feels tight since there’s random poles everywhere and the benches are out of place… there’s a lot of things for kids to do here… but at the same time since there’s more kids then things its actually not that many stuff… lol… I always walk pass this park when I go to my favorite dim sums place Park Asia… love that place… There is a tennis court for young adults… about three four courts… And two basketball area… Which is always occupied… I mean you have to come here early if you want to do a certain thins because once its 12 pm the park is full of people and all you do is end up on the side line siting next to the pigeons… Us there is parking but limited… No bathrooms :(

Nice park. Very quiet and peaceful place to sit and relax. Can be a bit crowded at times but it’s alright. They have a ton of benches all over and a basketball court but it’s usually full, especially when the kids get out of school.

If you don’t count the kids playground near 8^th Ave and Ft. Hamilton this place is a gem. People come here to walk around and around and like others have mentioned it can get crowded! Tennis and basketball courts with plenty of sitting areas although who wants to sit. My favorite place to bring the kids are the giant flower structure sprinklers that are always on in the summer. The kids love to run around and ride their scooters through. It’s nice and relaxing unless you are in the kids playground like I said because it can get hectic there. But I wish the Parks service cleaned it more often.

I found this park while wandering around the neighborhood. It’s a cute, Nordic-​themed park that has a lot to offer. Whatever you’re into, chances are you’ll find a taste of it here. There are chess tables, a water play area, a playground, a work out area, a circular garden with benches, basketball courts (half-​courts), a volleyball court, and a walking track around the whole thing. It’s a charming part of the community.

In the passage of my travels for a Meetup event, this cute park captured my interest. The Nordic figures are whimsical and adds a lot of character to the charm of this park on a major street of Brooklyn. The entrance on Fort Hamilton Parkway is a Viking theme with ships, people skiing including a gnome. There is even large Rune monument to enhance the authencity of the Viking exploration realm. Very cute.
Tennis, soccer and a children’s playground are available in addition to the Chess inclined. There is no shortage of benches to intake the breath of life. Leif Ericson Park is Brooklyn’s jewel.

I initially thought this was some kind of trendy popup BK park but ended up discovering a chill Viking-​inspired park along a busy thoroughfare. Choose between Leif & McKinley a few blocks away.

I live across from the park. It’s full of Chinese people morning, noon and night. They more or less dominate the entire park with tai-​chi and basketball in the morning and their masses of children in the afternoon and use it as their persona spittoon.

This park is a hidden gem because it’s so narrow but so peaceful considering it’s next to some of the busiest streets in Brooklyn.
They have tennis, soccer, a playplace for the kids and plenty of benches and huge trees where you can sit, relax, eat lunch and just take in the sight.

Is Leif Ericson Park the most hidden gem in Brooklyn? My guess is the locals are aware of this great stretch of greenspace, but I’m not so sure about everybody else.
Wedged just north of Bay Ridge between Dyker Heights and Boro Park, there’s tons to do here, and it seems like it’s always teeming with people. If you want to play baseball, shoot some hoops and then hang out and have a BBQ, you can do all of that here.
Prospect Park and other areas get lots of love, but Leif Ericson Park is a solid option if you happen to be in the area.

I live not too far from this particular park and have always found it a small but pleasant bit of green to enjoy when the weather is proper for such things. This is also the home area of those parrots you always hear about being in Bay Ridge, so train your eye to the sky if you are visiting the place. I love the Nordic history that gets represented at this part from its giant Rune monument to Viking explorer Leif Ericson to the great monkey bars ship that is not too far up into the park.

I only hope that they add more things like this since it captures the spirit of the culture that was once very dominant and key to the areas growth. Nothing like a history lesson to let us all learn and grow.

Ah those days when I come here with my friends to play tennis, ultimate and volleyball. It’s a pain to wait for tennis courts, especially on the weekends, unless you are there by 8am… I guess. It’s a pretty nice park. It does get pretty crowded on a nice summer day. I wish it was summer again, so I can practice on some settings. Miss those weekends with my friends playing volleyball and tennis and then getting food near by.

The Leif Ericson park is so convenient to have so close to me. Whenever I feel the need to shoot some hoops at 1am its there… cant go in the daytime on the weekends bc its SWAMPED with children. Hey, at least they’re outside doing something though, right?
Theres baseball fields and the dustbowl which is NO FUN when the wind starts to kick up.
It’s just nice to have a park in the middle of everything.
I usually bring my dog here to run around off his leash if I dont feel like walking down to owls head.
