I was a huge fan of Mario’s until my car started to shake violently and lose speed on the highway just weeks after being serviced here due to cheap parts that were put in. A huge safety hazard not to mention all the money I had to spend to get the parts replaced yet again.

Amazing honest service. My transmission gave up after driving across country. Mario gave me an honest estimate and fixed my car in a timely manner. The service was quick and I’ve had no issues with my car since.
He also gave me a list of things that needed fixing but didn’t push anything on me. He said they were all things that could wait but I should think about doing soon. I thought that was super nice of him.

After 30 minutes of trying to get my car to start, it wouldn’t and I was frantic. Someone whom I’m assuming is Mario was really nice and helpful picked up the phone after hours and he came up with a plan of action but then after we already came up with a plan that would have worked, I guess he could tell I was nervous, confused, and super worried because he offered to come to me in ten minutes and see what was up. This was after I already said okay to the first plan!!! So nice!!! When he got here the car started and we couldn’t find a problem with the car and I felt crazy but he was really nice and told me to bring it to the shop in the morning to do a quick check because I had to drive a couple hundred miles the next day. I was probably irrationally stressed but this guy was super super nice and helpful and calmed me down a lot. I don’t know anything about cars and I can’t pretend I do. When something goes wrong I get really crazy knowing I’m going to have to deal with something I know nothing about but I felt safe and like he was honest and so helpful and felt calm. Great experience. More businesses like this!

I went to these guys for a standard oil change and check up before a road trip, extremely nervous about what the price tag would run me. It was the first time getting my car serviced in NY and I’ve come to expect everything here to be far more expensive than anticipated. However, after a straight shooting answer that after they’d topped of my fluids, they found that my tires needed changing and told me about the options they carry. In the end, the price was more than reasonable, the service was honest and fast and they let me keep it there for a couple of days while I waited to get a paycheck. I’ll be doing business with these guys as long as I’m Brooklyn based.

Ive bounced around NY, mostly Brooklyn, spoken with and tried various mechanics. Hard to find one like this place. I have moved to E Harlem and still take the car here.

This is only based on one visit, but slammed my tire in a pothole and bent the rim. I told him I was afraid I’d busted the rim altogether — which could have been a big $$$ payday for an unscrupulous guy — he replied, «Nah, we’ll just bang it out. 10 bucks.» AND he took a card for such a small amount when the ATM down the street was out of service. Honest guys here.

As of yesterday, I have had my vehicles repaired at Mario’s for 10 years. The first was a Saab and second is an Acura MDX. I cannot recommend him enough. The quality of his work and his integrity are rare. I fully agree with previous posters, in that Mario doesn’t up sell or make unneeded repairs. He is hardworking, has fair prices and a quick turn around.

I’ve been using Mario for the last couple years to work on my 14 year-​old Honda Civic. He’s a very honest guy, he’s cheap and he gets the work done quickly. Not a hint of trying to upsell you on anything. I even had my transmission die on a Friday night, and he picked up his cell while he was home and gave me instructions for what to do with the car. By the next week, he had rebuilt it for significantly less than I expected. If you’re a car owner, you need someone like him in your corner.

I had to come here based on reviews and nothing else since I moved to the neighborhood recently. Open till 6 on Saturday, I was able to get my car towed from 278 to their shop just before close.
By noon on Monday (exactly when they said) they let me know that the issue was the fuel pump and it could be done in three hours. I asked how he diagnosed and he had all the right answers to confirm fuel pump.
I double checked the price with my old mechanic in Philly, and it was fair, probably even cheap while throwing in an oil change.
Quick, straight-​forward, and fair — everything I look for in a mechanic. I’ll be going back there next time anything goes wrong.

My old Subaru had a break in its exhaust system somewhere. I took it to another (mostly highly rated on Unilocal) shop in Crown Heights, and was quoted over $ 1300 to fix. I took my car to Mario’s for a second opinion, and he quoted me several levels of work they could do to fix the problem, and gave me the choice. All of the choices were under $ 300.
I’ve been back a couple of times since, and always been very satisfied. They don’t oversell or overcharge you for anything, and do great work. They are good mechanics and good businessmen, not salespeople, which is something I really appreciate.

Mario and his brother, are great efficient mechanics. They are my mechanics because I trust them and because they usually get the work done the same day. I have been going to him with all my broken down cars for 11 years now. First they fixed my 1975 Dodge Dart (it got stolen), and then the three other Volvos I have owned long after I or anyone should have driven them. My other mechanic is a Volvo legend known around the world, Joe P Ottati he lives up state so no popping the car in neutral and taking it to him. These guys and there scrappy looking shop hold there own and do great work. I highly recommend them.
