If you want your child to follow through on something, you need to find a great teacher. Well look no further. Max has a gentle touch, a great personality, & his enthusiasm toward his craft is contagious. My son has been taking lessons with Max for almost 2 years! He is always ready to take the drive and up for the lesson. There are closer alternatives, actually a drum center about 2 min from my house but the commute is well worth it. Max is committed to helping kids become better drummers and its a beautiful thing.

I studied with two teachers in my drumming life before starting with Max. Simply put, he is an extraordinary teacher! I had always struggled with my reading, but with Max’s teaching style and support, I made more progress in weeks than I had in years. But it was not just about reading chops. Max has a way of analyzing problem areas in my playing and developing exercises that target those areas and build my skills quickly. Additionally, when I need to work out a part for a song I needed to learn for a gig or just a style I wanted to improve on, Max’s ability to break things down to «teachable» bites, helped tremendously. Max is a great guy to study with and an amazing drummer in his own right. His feel, his chops and his understanding of drumming are second to none.

I’ve had a lifetime obsession with everything music and although I have always been drawn to the rhythm section instruments, the drums are(by far) my favorite(I must have been a musician in a past lifetime)! A couple of years ago I decided to take the plunge and treat myself to professional drum lessons, and literally hit the jackpot when I found Max Goldman on ‘YouTube’(of all places). From day one, I was highly impressed with his professionalism, dynamic teaching style(within an organized structure) and talent. He provided a ‘starter’ drum notation/exercise booklet(assembled by him) and walked me through every single step, from getting to know the drum kit, techniques to properly hold the sticks, to learning how to feel at home and in control whilst seated behind the kit. I too(as mentioned in another review), struggled with the reading and counting part(I’m one of those ‘feel the beat naturally’ types of people). To be honest, it gave me a great deal of anxiety. However, Max always found the perfect way to balance the lessons in such a way, that the fun and enjoyment of playing was never lost(improvising was my favorite!). He knows exactly how to get the best out of you, while strengthening your weaknesses(no ‘whiplash’ here, peeps! :D). There are plenty of musicians with mad skills out there, but being the best at what you do, does not always mean that you will be the best at conveying those skills to others. Max is not only a kick-ass(professional) drummer, he is equally as good, as a teacher. Money well spent; highly recommended! :)
