The sandwich I had here was about average. I don’t recall the name but it was supposed to have bacon and they had to substitute turkey bacon — that may have been the issue. No one in my group of 4 had anything worth craving. What I really enjoyed was that we were staying on Lorimer street, just and the corner, and having a small grocery store nearby was the best! We frequented this shop during our stay in Greenpoint.

Amazing deli. Always open, you can order pretty much any sandwich you can think of, and their stock is comparable to a small grocery store. Also super nice people. Spent a month in New York staying right across the street and ate here almost every night. And after all those late nights at many a bar, it was a godsend. Don’t expect five-star food, but after a night of drinking, a great sandwich will suffice. Love you guys.

Selection is amazing and evening staff are great. Regrettably, the daytime staff(which also own the store) always to have«issues» with their credit card line and insist you pay cash… strange the night staff never has this issue.

Feels weird to review a bodega, but this place is in a league of its own – especially after its recent remodel. Their sandwiches and salads are fresh, well thought-out, and and cheap! Finally, a deli where«fresh mozzarella» means actual fresh mozzarella, where«prosciutto» means something other than cheap salty grocery store ham, and where«balsamic» means actual vinegar and not some chemical-filled salad dressing imitation. As for the stuff on the shelves, they have everything – every organic, obscure, foreign snack or staple you could imagine you’ll find here. Also a very large an fresh produce selection. Prices are standard, but the selection is unlike any I’ve ever seen. Staff are great too. Thankful to have this place so close to the office.

this is my favorite deli in the whole freaking wide wide world. first of all, the people who own the deli and everyone who works there are extremely NICE. which is exactly what you want when you’re going for a bag of chips, a sody pop, or a coffee. it’s also nice to spend your money with nice people. the prices are great for this neighborhood, secondly. thirdly, the products are spot on — they know what us greenpoint hipster transplants want!(i can call myself that even if i probably don’t totally fit the description. or maybe i do. anyway back to the deli.) they’ve got a superb selection of organic and weird ass chips, awesome snacks, bread for when i don’t want to go all the way to the key foods, awesome candy, great drinks, yogurt, beer, omg — every TYPE that i want, too?! work it mccarren deli & grill. work. it. fourthly, the sandwiches are bomb and cheap. i just had a buffalo chicken sandwich with provolone and all the fixins for a mere $ 3.50. a $ 3.50 sandwich in NYC /one of the most expensive neighborhoods in brooklyn?! right by mccarren park? and you made it exactly how i requested and toasted the bread special just for me?! so completely sold. past sold. in love. love. this. deli! PS — they take my credit card when i’m buying $ 2.75 worth of soda. no minimum. oh yes.

It’s a little pricey for the location but they have everything you need. I guess convenience isn’t cheap. I come here just about once a week and they never disappoint.

Take your average deli/bodega in Greenpoint, double the square footage, and you have McCarren Deli & Grill. While I haven’t tried the hot food, convenience store-wise, everything is there. Decent beer selection, an entire aisle of canned foods and seprate coolers on opposite sides of the store for the always contested Coke vs. Pepsi showdown. The cashiers seem much friendlier than at your average neighborhood store, and the whole area around them has an especially large selection of foreign chocolates. Lastly, the owners of this place definitely did some research into the demographics of the neighborhood. There’s a whole wall of party cups(including the infamous red beer pong cups) and styrofoam coolers(CFC free of course!)
