Mega Barber Shop

I used to come here all the time until I tried out other barber shops and salons. The wait here is ridiculously long especially when one of the barber’s friends come in, they’ll skip you in line and just say that they had an appointment. If that was the case, why hadn’t you told me earlier? There has been too many instances where they would tell me that I’m up next, just so that I had to wait for more than 2 people to get their cuts first. There were times I’ve had to wait 3 hours to get a hair cut.
There has been several times where they have messed up my hair, leaving it uneven and even cutting me with the blade leaving a red streak off the side of my face.
There was another time where one of the barbers was eating cheese doodles and then started touching my head without washing his hands first.

From my college years, I learned that I can often get a good haircut in predominantly Hispanic neighborhoods for cheap — I think it has something to do with my curly hair, which is similar in texture to many Hispanics. In fact, I’d say that about 90% of time I get better haircuts at cheap barbershops in Hispanic neighborhoods than at expensive salons in Manhattan.
Well I needed a haircut badly, and I just happened to be walking by Mega Barber Shop. When I got there, 2 barbers started arguing over who got to cut my hair. Eventually, a Nicaraguan? barber named Alex won the argument and I plopped down in the barber seat.
He pulled out the electric razor and started cutting off my hair in a fast and uncareful manner. Fast and uncareful would be an understatement. The man was a hair-​cutting monster, cutting everything absolutely as quickly as possible, quality be damned.
I got up out of the seat and asked «what the hell are you doing to my hair?» Alex, who spoke no English, just shrugged. The manager, who spoke English, explained to me that Alex does this at first but then goes around and carefully cleans up the haircut.
With some more assurances, I sat back down in the barber seat. Alex got really slow and careful after that.
I ended up with one of the best haircuts of my life. And it only cost $ 15.00 including my beard. I would highly recommend this place.
