I’ve been a regular customer for five years. It is an amazing place to eat. The hummus, Shepard’s Salad aka Coban Salatasi is the best I’ve ever eaten. It’s worth trying if you are in this section of Brooklyn. My only word of advice is is you order take out, check your order before you leave the store.

Ordered: Lamb and chicken gyro on pita Pros – For $ 6(plus tax and tip of course) you get a pretty great amount of meat. Cons – There were seemingly 2 waiters for the whole place. It took too long for someone to come over and take our order and to come back and give a check. Also the bathroom was somewhat dirty and it had no toilet paper. This place seems better for take out purposes.

Menu isnt very clear on what is mixed with lamb(i can’t eat lamb). had the sandwich that seemed to be a mix of lamb and chicken sausage. and then ordered chicken gyro plate and it was very good. also tried babaganoush and that was a perfect sweet ending. will def be going back.

My husband and I love this place. The food is so delicious. I don’t eat meat but my husband does occasionally and raves about it(especially the lamb.) I love to get the falafel platter along with the eggplant spread. I swear the falafels are the best I’ve had. Nice and crispy on the outside with out being super oily or burned. The side dishes like the hummus and babaganoush along with their homemade bread are excellent. We usually get the same waiter, I wish I could remember his name. He is very friendly and always helpful. We brought our mothers once and he was very patient and kind to them. Our mom’s loved the food by the way;). This isn’t a fancy establishment, it’s very chill with great food. Another plus, the meat is halal.

Pretty good place to go to if you are in the mood to stuff yourself with a lot of meat. A typical dish would cost you an average of $ 10; with this you can get a small portion of something that is guaranteed to make you full. Unlike other gyro restaurants, this one focuses on proving you more meat than rice. You definitely do get your money’s worth. My personal favorite dish would have to be the chicken gyro. If you are stuck between what to order, you have nothing to worry about; their menus provide a sample picture of the dish before you order. I also recommend getting extra white sauce because I personally find the food to taste better with it. The delivery process can also get time consuming depending on when you order. I had experiences where it took them over 30 – 40 minutes to deliver. I personally find pick-up orders to be more convenient :)

The phone girl they had prior was very friendly and pleasant to speak with. The current one messed up the order and obviously can’t handle a certain volume of calls. As I watched her get frustrated and sighing on the phone then had the nerve to direct her attitude towards me. Slamming my bag of food on the table wasn’t a cool move. I won’t be returning.

Great food. Great service. The owner let me trey the chicken on the spit and it was heavenly. I could have just had a plate of that … The mix shish was delicious and the chicken and salad were very moist and fresh. I will definitely come back to this place when back in town. Thank you

Love this place so much. Regular here. I’ve been coming here with a lot of my friends and family almost once a week now. Food is so affordable and delicious and it’s filling yet light. I’ve taken out, dined in and ordered for delivery. There’s practically a 2 minute wait time depending on how busy it is but the max I’ve waited is 5 minutes, regardless of whether I was taking out or sitting in. I do wish, though, that the delivered more. it’s a forty dollar minimum and that kind of sucks.

I finally figured out the non-verbal communication necessary to get service in Memo’s after months of attempts and frustration. Here were my big mistakes: Don’t expect to be seated by anyone if you walk into the place to dine in. Don’t stand by the cashier with the large sign above her head that reads«Carry Out» to place a «to go» order. You will be ignored… like invisible spray ignored, not«you’re in the way» ignored. This happened time in and time out until recently, light headed from the fluid loss of walking both hungry and thirsty in 90 degree heat, I walked in and just sat down at a table. I needed a minute to collect myself before deciding whether or not I wanted to be ignored for a half hour. Silently and mechanically, a young woman passed by and placed menus down. If I didn’t look in her direction, I would have thought her movements were a draft from the AC. Her non-verbal response to my sitting down was, «Stay and we will serve you.» I overheard the table next to me place a to go order. They had done the same thing — walked in and immediately sat down. Hmmmm… okay, Memo, I’ll stay. I inhaled a huge plate of Adana kebab and grilled chicken with rice and side salad. The waitress automatically brought a basket of pide(flat bread) and a small plate of yogurt sauce. I made another error of asking for a little more. She nodded pleasantly and then ignored me. Non-verbal communication, «Nope, that’s all you get with your meat.» The only time I had to use my verbal skills was in asking for the check, which they did NOT ignore. I can play this game Memo ALLDAY. Next time I will attempt take away and see what happens… non-verbally.

After trying Mediterranean food at several different places, I still considered the cuisine to be someone tasteless and overall, bland. With that being said, I still decided to give this place a shot with a friend’s recommendation. After looking through the whole menu on the outside of the store, I finally decided to settle for the chicken and lamb gyro over rice. The wait wasn’t long and service was ok-ish for takeout. The only thing I thought was savory about the dish was the rice alone. The«hot sauce» wasn’t hot at all and the white sauce was somewhat sour; in a good way. A big piece of freshly baked nan was provided so that’s a big plus. The tomato and cucumber salad that was provided also wasn’t bad. Would I be back? I’ll take my chances.

Great neighborhood Gyro spot on the run or sit down. They have plenty to choose from on their menu and the cheese cigar sticks are my favorite appetizer. Will be back very soon for some great Turkish food.

After reading so many good reviews about Memo, I decided to stop by. It’s a pretty large establishment on the corner — also perfect for a summer’s day(not in terms of A/C) but all the open windows allow the wind to come in while you feast on your delish food. It’s about $ 9 – 10 per plate, but rest assured, the small will get you what you need. I bet the large sized platters could feed 2 people. Either way, it’s a ton of meat(and not much rice, which is what I wouldn’t have expected since rice is much cheaper) and you’ll get it to your liking. And also, if you’re not familiar with what’s what… thank god the menu has photos of what dish is what so you know what you’re eating. I really recommend the chicken and lamb gyro platter if you’re stuck on deciding what meat you’d like — why not both? Note in my photo once again, it’s a lot of meat! The rice is soft and goes really well with the meat. Also love the shepherd’s salad — it’s refreshing with all the protein. In addition, I really love the bread they serve as an appetizer. My only issue(but not a big one) is with the white sauce — it’s a little watery, but super refreshing as well as I believe it also contains cucumber. Just a tip — I would also recommend doing take-out v. sitting down and eating. Although sitting down and eating is great, I also got a to-go chicken and lamb platter which appeared to have about 1.5x as much as my sit-down platter. Plus… baklava. Love it and a great way to end your meal if you love sweet dessert(as in really really sweet).

The food is fresh, house made, and prepared with the utmost care. The prices are surprisingly low for the high quality, authentic Turkish cuisine this venue offers. The atmosphere is very laid back, and the servers are friendly and helpful. What to order– The mix grill is a good place to start because it offers variety. I have also heard good things about the chicken on the bone however, since it is made to order there is a 20 minute wait time for that particular dish. The hummus is well seasoned and scratch-made. Make sure u have the pudding for dessert. Highly recommended–

It’s a hit or miss. Been here a few times, sometimes the food is on point, and sometimes, far from it. The appetizers I ordered were all frozen and thawing in my mouth… not the most pleasant feeling, especially when it’s subzero outside. Asked for tea, but they said they have no hot drinks… which is strange since they have a full kitchen and make hot soups. Service is pretty good. Portions are pretty generous. Free bread is a nice touch, but to be expected for a Turkish place. There are better places out there with similar prices but way better food.

They would have gotten one more star but I was very disappointed with the service. One of the waitress was just beyond rude. She’d get upset when we were ordering, and the other waiter would laugh when my sister asked a question and go discuss it with the other waiter. The food was pretty good. Ordered the lamb chop, one of them was a bit too burnt. But good none the less. We also had the chicken adana kebab, adana kebab, lamb gyro and mixed lamb chicken gyro wrap. The portions itself was a bit smaller than what we expected but it was good.

I’ve had both the eat-in and takeout experience at Memo Shishkebob. It’s all fine. They restaurant has the vibe of a pizza place except that there’s wait service. The servers remember everyone’s order(correctly!) without writing anything down. The food is consistently good, and everyone I’ve brought there has loved the place like I do. Another Unilocaler reported«They don’t customize meals… it’s straight as their menu offers» but my experience has been different. Many times I’ve ordered the cold appetizer plate, sometimes large sometimes small, and asked for no lebne(yogurt) and more of something else, and the staff are very willing to do that. That appetizer plate minus lebne is what makes Memo Shishkebob an ideal place for a vegan to eat with carnivores. A big dollop each of so many salads, so fresh and expertly prepared, with soft tasty bread… imagine all the washing and chopping! I would never take the time to make all this for myself at home. And the carnivores have all those great meat choices. Perfect for everyone.

Good food but service was a bit slow. Child friendly with free child seats available. The lamb was not to great but the chicken much better. The kebab is much better then the shwarma.
