One waiter barely talks to you and when he does he’s mumbling and looks like he doesn’t care. The food is grossly and criminally overpriced. Not only did it take a long time to come out but the food is awful. Everything tastes like it comes from a can or a box. The chicken looks like sausage. Burritos look deflated. The food looks anemic and barely has any flavor. When your bill arrives you will be shocked how much they’re charging for this terrible eating experience. I had a margarita as well and it was terrible. Avoid this place at all costs.

Food is good but overpriced, the service is a little slow too, I walked in their once & sat at the table for 20 min before someone even came out to acknowledge me & I was the only one there at the time & I could see the guys in the back so I know they saw me… drinks are good but again a little pricey

The worst service and food that I have had in a long time. The chicken looked like mush and the salsa tasted and liked like tomato soup. :(Terrible P. S. For 2 chicken tacos it was $ 14.95. Never again!

When I think of a good Mexican restaurant I picture a place where I can have some decently strong margaritas and a tasty dinner for a reasonable price. Lets just say that Mexcal’s does not fit that description of mine. First off about everything on the menu is overpriced by about $ 5.00 and for that money you don’t even get a big plate of food. Now the food was not bad but it definitely wasn’t great. As for the margarita is was about the smallest one I have ever seen. So if you got a bunch of extra money laying around and you want some ok Mexican food go ahead.

Ordered a chicken quesadilla and it didn’t come with cheese inside… Told the waiter the situation he brings me a side of cheese. He was Mexican. That quesadilla was an insult to all the Mexicans there and around the world. Avoid this place and the terrible service.

DONOTGOHERE! Me and my friend decided to try this place last night and honestly if i could give it no stars i would. We ordered margaritas and the guy asked for ID. We gave our ID with no problem(we are both 24 yrs old) He’s lookin at us and our id for like a whole minute examining it. He asked how old we were. I said we are both 24. He said«how are you both 24 when one says 1991 and the other says 1990?» First of all regardless of 1991 or 1990BOTH years would make us over 21 –_– Anyways. the reason is because im born in january and my friend is in December. DUH. Then he says we look 19 which is a great compliment but NO we are 24 and i even recited everything on my ID. After 5 min goin back and forth he gives us the margaritas which weren’t even good. One was light and one just tasted like a strawberry smoothie and it was suppose to be a guava maragrita –_– whatever. we drank it and i ordered quesedillas. Our total with tax shouldve been 28 $ and change… we get the check and it says 38 $. At this point me and my friend are so aggravated. We call over the waiter, he apologizes and fixes the check. I leave 1 penny as a tip and me and my friend left. TEERRRRIIIIBBBLLEEEE. Don’t even bother. Go to Ho Bra in baybridge. Loveeee that mexican spot.

Very disappointed! Went there with friends last night and the waiter who said his name was«Steve» was very rude and sarcastic. He was in a rush to take our order and I can’t even that the place was busy, there were only 3 other tables being occupied. We ordered nachos for a table of 5 people and he could’ve mentioned that the plate came with just a few nachos in it that were covered with cheese and some lettuce and peppers thrown on top. We would’ve ordered 2 of them instead of 1. When we nicely asked him about the nachos he rudely said, it’s not my fault it’s yours cause you are the one that ordered them. He brought us sour cream and guacamole and he charged each one of them to the bill. When the check came we saw that he helped himself by adding his tip of $ 31.00 to the bill. I am by far a cheap person, I eat out often and I wouldn’t of had any problem giving this man this tip if he provided better customer service. Hope that the owner has the opportunity to read this because this man is a terrible asset to this restaurant.

Went there for dinner tonite with some girlfriends. Waiter«Steve» was rude from the start. Nachos platter was surprisingly small, and service was very lacking. Topping on the cake when we got the bill the waiter included a tip for himself already added in! Will not be going back nor would I recommend this place to friends.

I honestly wish I could give it no stars. Me and my friends loved coming here. A few weeks ago, we came here for some margaritas and dinner. Their ventilation system sucks. My eyes were burning the whole time. I repeatedly asked our server to put the fan on or open a back door. The drinks were alright. The food was so dry. The one thing that pissed me off was our waitress. I am a firm believer in always being respectful towards my server. Towards the end of our meal a friend walked in and started talking to me and apparently the waitress was trying to ask me if I wanted my food to go. She decided to wave her hand in my face and YELL helloo I’m speaking to you. That will 100% be our last time we ever go to Mezcals. Shitty service shitty food.

Very disappointed!!! Me and my friends go there all the time, however this time when my friend showed her Florida ID to get a glass of sangria, he denied to serve her a drink. Meanwhile we were there last month and there was no problem. The server was so nasty to us so we asked to speak to a manager. He said he is the manager and it’s too bad to speak to his attorney!!! So my friend says it’s fine I won’t drink. The«manager» ask if anyone else is drinking and I said not sure give us a minute and he got so pissed and said well I need to know now and basically screamed at us. It was ridiculous! We got up and went to outback where there was no hassle or attitudes. I don’t understand, tourist come to NYC all the time and they get served drinks! I will def go to a different location.

Came here on a Sunday to have some drinks and watch a game. Drinks were good but the food was subpar. The bar was filled with dirty glasses and the service was nonexistent. Had to wait 20 minutes to get our check! Should’ve just walked out… but we didnt.

Been living near this place for years and never went in, mostly because of a bad review from my sister a few years back but it was Easter night and the roomie and I wanted Mexican and Paco’s Tacos was closed so in we went. The place has a very ummm busy décor. There are pictures and colorful menu descriptions everywhere. When you sit down they bring out a bowl of warm tortilla chips and a kinda salsa thats not really salsa because it has no chunks of anything in it, its more like a hot sauce and tastes a bit like that Mexican taco sauce. At any rate it was pretty good and the chips were fresh. This is the one and only area they beat Pacos. I ordered the Mole Poblano which I have had at several authentic Mexican restaraunts and this did not stack up. It was a pretty dry and dull looking chicken breast. Very thin cutlet like, best way to describe it would be like that chicken breast they use in the Subway chicken breast sandwich. It was covered with a sauce that lacked any depth, you got no chocolate undertones that make Mole so delicious and while there was a little heat it was barely there. The dish which was 16.00 I might add came with a small scoop(and I do mean SMALL) of dull rice and an even smaller smear of refried beans which had a very Old El Paso taste to ti. It also came with a large mess of shredded iceberg lettuce in the middle of the dish. Why I have no clue other than a cheap way to make the dish look fuller. I also had a sour apple margarita that was ok but overpriced(everything here is). Now here is where things get a bit strange, my roomie is from Colombia and sometimes loses stuff in translation so why she didnt order in Spanish I dont know but she ordered some Chorizo dish which was an appetizer but she wanted as a main. They bring it out as an app and put it in the middle of the table and give us 2 small plates, I told her it was hers and put it in front of her and eat. Of course now I get to sit and watch her eat for 15 minutes until mine comes out. They bring mine and then bring another plate of two tortillas filled with shredded meat. I asked if she ordered this and she didnt know so I assumed she did and ate one(it wasnt too good) turns out it was something neither of us ordered but since I ate one I didnt make a big deal. Now thats not all she had a frozen Pina Colada and after finishing the waiter asked if she wanted another, she responded«Im good» and he said«Great» and left returning a few minutes later with another Pina! Now she likes her drink so she told me she would drink it anyway but when he asked me if I wanted another I clearly said NOOOO. The meh food and the bad service means this was my one and only trip here. Thank you Paco for being closed!

The food is not good, all the meat is dry, all the flavoring is the same. We order sangria, had no taste at all, very watery. Too pricey for the rate of food, by the way we order two entrée and two drink for lunch, it charge us $ 80, I rather go across street to Outback. The only reason I give two star, all because the service is good.

I like this place but I can see why many others do not. Maybe it is because of the lack of competition in the area or because I am a sucker for pitchers of margaritas, but I am not as offended by this restaurant as others seem to be. The service is ok and the ambiance, like other Mezcal locations, is cute but divey– not elegant in the slightest. No, the food is not what I consider to be good or authentic Mexican food but for the price, you get what you pay for. The free chips and salsa are a nice touch :), the quesadillas are… edible but soggy. The fajitas are generic and the meat is not prepared well but it doesn’t taste bad, just doesn’t have much flavor. The place is just average all around but not bad. If you are looking for good Mexican food, do not come here. But if you just need a bite to eat or want drinks and apps, this is a decent enough place to come to.

AVOID. I do not know which Mezcals Danielle is talking about but I am sure it is not the one in our neighborhood. My husband has been to the Mezcals in the Bay Ridge area and liked it. So we thought about stopping here after our long walk for a drink. We ordered frozen margaritas(pomegranate and the classic) and both of them were less than exciting. The drinks were watery and loaded with lemon juice. However, the complimentary chips and salsa were good and spicy. Before paying for our check we decided on having lunch as it was already past lunch time. We ordered the quesedillas appetizer with mushrooms and spinach. They were runny and topped with melted butter? They were mostly bland and we had to actually force ourselves to finish the dish. The check came for $ 38 which is pricey for just two drinks and an appetizer. We are not going back again.

I lived near this place for 2 years before finally stopping in. Their drinks are made really well; the taste isn’t drowning in alcohol, and the chicken/sausage in rice(forget the name of the meal) was great. I was a big fan of the chicken/sausage/rice combo because there are several places in more well traveled areas that can mess that combo up usually by being too salty. It was a perfect blend here. My only gripe was the price. While I may bring someone here for dinner, I don’t think I’d make a point to stay for drinks. The drinks are pricey, and that bill will get exponentially larger with each round. Despite that, I’ll definitely plan on returning here for dinner in the future.
