Moldova Restaurant

Today we ordered delivery here for the 1^st time.
The guys are very helpful and polite over the phone.
The delivery took much longer than expected (1,5 hr instead of 40min), but the food was so delicious, that I can’t but recommend Moldova to anyone craving for a great quality meal (I would say homemade style).
We ordered a pork neck with mamalyga, stuffed peppers, homemade sausages and a fresh vegetable salad. Total was $ 41.
1) the food is healthy! it’s not greasy as I expected (I’m Russian and know how a lot of stuff is cooked).
2) the portions are of a good size, the vegetable salad was bigger than expected — which is very rare and a big plus, of course.
3) Moldova are very responsive and pleasant over the phone, even when you call them hungry and a bit cranky ;-)

This is a very nice Romanian/​Moldavian restaurant. While it has a few Russian dishes, it’s not a Russian restaurant. The food is excellent, and they have large portions for very reasonable prices. I highly recommend the traditional soups, appetizers, and desserts.
The atmosphere is nice, and the service is prompt.
The only negative is that the restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, which is a pity given the quality of Moldavian wines.

I’m rating this in comparison to other Russian restaurants.
The décor and atmosphere here is very lovely.
Everything was clean and fresh, upbeat, and welcoming
The waitresses and staff were very nice and friendly. Service was prompt.
The room was spacious and they have outside (back) seating.
The patrons of this establishment were also pleasant (any frequent patron of Russian restaurants will understand).
They do not have liquor but they do allow you to bring your own (no charge) and provide you with whatever glassware you want (shot, wine, champagne)
The prices were very reasonable. 4 people, our bill was $ 84.
The food was good but nothing outstanding. You’ll find typical Russian dishes and some Moldovian specific dishes. The menu is in a flush, Russian, and Romanian.
The pork shish Kebob was delicious

There was a misunderstanding first time I ordered. The order was not completely what I have asked for (perhaps language barrier), I got a different desert form the one I ordered but the rest of the food was good. Also, Andy was very prompt to try to make it a better experience in the future. My husband actually liked the dish he ordered very much.

This place was awesome. The ambiance and the food were really great and you felt like you are in a swanky restaurant in Moldova. It is great for couples and dates, however it is really deserted during the early parts of the day, so if you go for lunch expect to have the place to yourself.

I don’t know anything about Russian food and this was a shot in the dark for sure, but it was worth it. We ordered delivery: the salmon and noodles, chicken and noodles, beet soup, pork belly, meat dumplings and potato dumplings. Everything was great except the porkbelly which was a little soggy but I think that’s from being transported in a sealed container that steamed the crunch out of it. Delivery is slow but when the food arrived, it made sense. Well worth the wait.

The food is good, but i am giving 3 starts because when you order a soup you have to ask for sour cream, jalapenos or when you order «ciorba de burta» you have to ask for garlic, sour cream and jalapenos. They are not giving you bread, they are almost not giving you anything only if you ask for ! But other than that if you feel for traditional food, the food is good!

The salad ‘Dunarea’ was very delicious, I never had something like that. The only think I did not liked was the traditional called «Placinta» which was not fresh! And also a big minus is what they do not sell any alcoholic beverages .
Overall not so bad place to spend a quiet week night!

We been coming to this restaurant since it first opened and I love the food, every dish is simply delicious. The place is very clean and the environment is very friendly. Lots of family come there to eat and it’s a very good place bring the kids. If you enjoy soups, then come to this place, the soups are made to fulfill your tasty desires.
They even deliver to us so we always take advantage and order their food which always feels like home-​cooked meals. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting delicious Moldovian food.

Delivery: Received on time, Food was still warm. First time having this «cuisine» very delicious. Not oily as I read on other reviews. Mamaliga: delicious nice to try something different and traditional. Pork neck on grill is loud YES!, mushroom crêpe yes. Delivery guy was cute as well. Only con: meal with tip came out to 30, However I was charged 36…

I just get my order and I couldnt be more happy with the food=)First of all everything is very fresh and just cooked and really delicious. I had the amazing grilled salmon that just melted in my mouth, also bors rosu and salad. The portions are quiet big. I definitely will order again. Thank you so much :)

I love new cuisine, and Moldovan food is definitely something I am glad I tried. Besides a general lack of salt, everything was delicious and cooked beautifully. Something completely new to me was the cascavale pane, or Transylvanian fried cheese as they call it. I also loved the marmaliga balls and the schnitzel. The lamb kabobs were tender and not over cooked.
I would definitely recommend this to someone in the area that’s tired of the same old food. You won’t be disappointed!

I had a great time here with my parents. We are not from Moldova, we are from Russia, but the staff here spoke Russian.
We ordered the assorted pickles and the assorted meats for appetizers. It’s probably the best beef tongue I’ve had — it was so delicate and soft.
As for the pickles, the cabbage was top notch, and the carrots were delicious. This was my first time trying pickled watermelon, and it was surprisingly good!
The appetizer dishes were also quite large.
We all ordered hot borscht soup, which was fantastic. Of course it came with sour cream, and maybe I was just hungry, but I could swear the sour cream was creamier and richer than what I’m used to. The soup itself was good and full of vegetables and meat. I finished my mom’s portion.
For entrees, we ordered the «Perjoale Ca La Tiraspol» a.k.a Stuffed chicken breast with cheese and sour pickles fried with egg and flour, and also the «Friptura De Pui Cu Ciuperci» a.k.a «Roast chicken with mushrooms», and for sides we ordered Mamaliga and Home Fried Potatoes.
To be honest, I actually did not like the chicken and mushrooms dish — it had a taste to it I did not enjoy and also felt a little too salty.
I will refrain on rating the mamaliga because I was eating it with the chicken and mushrooms, and I can’t remember if I tried it by itself.
The stuffed chicken breast, on the other hand, was very good. I remember wishing I weren’t so full by the time the entrees came so that I could have more of it. The home fried potatoes on the side were delicious.
For dessert we ordered the cherry blinzes and stuffed dried plums. They were both good, with my preference being for the cherry blinchiki.
Aside from the food, the interior of this place has a lovely authentic design to it, and there’s a back room decorated like a garden in a village. The staff is nice, and they are all dressed in authentic attire. They have televisions mounted on the walls, playing slideshows showing old pictures of Moldova I guess. I thought it was a great use of slideshows, it’s not distracting like a video, and it’s just something you can glance at now and then.
I really want to go back and try more dishes, because I am thinking to celebrate my birthday here (with my non Russian friends, to show them a new cuisine).

I’ve been to Moldova once, saw the sign and decided to visit for a new experience, did not know anything about the country and the food so I thought it’s an adventure that I will have to take.
The decoration was very very nice, the place had this eastern feel to it, which was very nice, the staff was very friendly, the food was very very good, I learned a lot about Moldova and their food from the staff.
I will be visiting again next time I am in southern Brooklyn.

Had a party of 12 people here:
Terrible service — over an hour wait for main course to come out, disorganized waiters, 1 waiter per 5 – 6 tables. Slow, unfriendly.
Summer day — AC barely working. Everyone was sweating (including the waiters), but they kept saying the AC is on and they cannot do anything about it
Food — was average. Absolutely nothing special and with all of the great restaurants on Coney Island… This place won’t last much longer. PS they didn’t even ask to bring out water for the table…
Pros — very cheap (but you pay for what you get — terrible service, uncomfortable environment and average food).
Try something else instead!

Don’t order delivery here if you want it within 2 hours and if you want what you actually ordered.
I called 1 hour and 15 minutes after ordering and they said the traffic was bad and that the driver would be there in 10 minutes. I looked on Google Maps and saw that the driving time was only 9 minutes with traffic.
45 minutes later I had given up and just left my house to pick up some food from a nearby pizza place (it was 9:45pm at this point) to see that the driver had finally arrived. When I opened the bag I saw that only 1 or possibly 2 (it was kind of hard to tell) things we had ordered were in it. They had given us 2 other random things and forgotten to include the coffee (which may have been cold anyway).
Also, the food was average at best.

I’ve never had Moldovan food before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, the food was delicious! We ordered the Primavera salad (radish and sour cream salad), Limba de Vita (veal tongue with horseradish), Mititei (sausage), Napolean cake, Coltunasi Cu Visina (cherry dumplings), and a pitcher of Compot de Casa (fruit punch).
I am Ukrainian, so I found the flavors and dishes to be similar to Ukrainian dishes. However, I have been unsuccessful in finding fresh and delicious Ukrainian food in the area, since nothing remotely compares to my grandmother’s cooking. In particular, I have been looking for handmade cherry dumplings for years, and most restaurants serve sad looking dumplings that look like the ones sold in the freezer section of most Russian stores. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Moldova Restaurant serves REAL cherry dumplings. They’re obviously handmade and really delicious. I definitely recommend them. The Napolean was also delicious.
The rest of the dishes were freshly made. No flaws, whatsoever. Aside from the cherry dumplings, my favorite dish was the Mititei. It was really good! The seasoning was spot on.
Plus, delivery was fast despite terrible weather conditions.
I definitely recommend this place and I will certainly order from here again.
