I called ahead to ask about their food, because I’ve heard too many horror stories of how it takes forever for African restaurants to prepare their food. The lady I spoke to said if I place my order it would take five mins for pick up. I was impressed. I told her I would be there in 30 mins. It took me more than 30 mins to get there but my order was waiting there for me. The only downside was that they dont accept cards, I had to pay cash, and because I didn’t have enough cash on me, I had to reduce my order. Another thing is the food prices are not accurate, so I was a little surprised when I had to pay more than I had calculated. I ordered 3 pounded yam with egusi($ 10). Not the best egusi I’ve tasted but it was alright. The portions were great though. I also ordered jollof rice and plantain, but had to remove the plantain because I didnt have enough cash on me. The jollof portion was ok($ 5). I have not tasted the jollof so I can not rate it. All in all, it was an ok experience, would have been better if they accepted card.

When it comes to Nigerian food, they are indeed THEREALONE! But here’s the rub; the menu displays one price($ 12 say), they tell you the menu is out of date and the price is higher(say $ 15), then when the food comes out what you ordered is even officially more($ 19 say). I have a solution; a.) either update the menu, or b.) be honest and upfront about prices.

So good! I always get the same thing here: eba or pounded yam with egusi soup and dried fish, and then meat stew on the side. I also get snail when they have it.(Yes, that’s a lot of food, but it’s soo good!) I tried the pepper soup once and it was memorable: well-seasoned, spicy, and full-flavored, and just the right consistency. Everything comes out fresh and hot(unlike at Buka where the food is sometimes lukewarm and, even when it’s not, you can taste that it had been frozen but then reheated for you — no, thanks). Anyway, I’m glad this place is getting some love here because I’ve been telling my friends about it for a long time.

My favorite place to get authentic Nigerian food. Their joloff rice, eba and akara is pretty decent. Hoping someday that they’ll serve puff puff.

Nice place and nice food. Defiantly better and faster service than Buka. The menu says 35 minute wait for food but when I went it was only about 15 minutes. A quiet atmosphere when I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Good place

New Combination is a great restaurant. The selection is awesome! From the palm wine to the washing bowl that is customary when eating many Nigerian dishes that involves using your hands. Be ready to dig into your favorite naija dishes. Whether it be asaro, or the signature Nigerian fried rice. The only drawback would be the distance. With a car, theres no problem. But for those(many of us) that rely on public transportation, it’s out of the way. If you can hail a dollar van from eastern parkway you’ll be well on your way! As for the prices, it’s not the cheapest, and very easy to spend a lot of money. Luckily Nigerian food is heavy so it doesn’t take much to be full!
