NEVER TAKE NY STATE LIMO!!! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER. *** They keep CHARGING OUR CARD, above the amount that we were told. I also asked for an invoice several times for what we were billed and never got a response. The driver was also 40 minutes late. This was SUCH A BAD EXPERIENCE. i WISH i COULD GIVE ZERO STARS. 4÷3÷2013

I’m so ashamed for not reading all of the reviews before purchasing the LS deal. This is THE worst company I have ever encountered. Every review below is completely true. I am so upset that I probably won’t be able to sleep tonight.
It’s absolutely true — you cannot get in touch with these people — only via email and I had to email them at least 10 times to ensure that the reservations were confirmed. They kept losing our cc numbers and there is absolutely no way to call their office.
They wound up calling me but wouldn’t leave a message so I just thought someone was calling me and it was a wrong number. Why on earth would I think it was the limo company if they didn’t leave a message??? If you don’t leave me a F***ing message, how am I supposed to know who you are???
I finally did get through to them via email and confirmed the reservation. The night before they texted me the driver’s mobile number so that we at least had someone’s phone number. I felt a little better and moved on.
When the first driver came to pick us up for our flight leaving from EWR, he showed up in a pimped out ghetto mobile with neon lights and BLASTING techno music at 4:30. I asked him to turn down the music and he only lowered the volume a bit but left it on. It was still comical at that point. When I asked him to turn it off completely, he became very agitated. He decided then to take 2^nd avenue from Yorkville ALL the way to Houston. I asked why not FDR as we drive on FDR every day and know how quick a ride it can be. He then began to yell at me for about 5 minutes and said, «I’m so sick of you Living Social people.» He said he won’t take FDR because of all of the pot holes (huh?) and that he doesn’t want to ruin his precious (ha!) car. He then continued his tirade about how he hates people like us and we won’t be responsible for his car repairs.
Fine. I chalked this up to a bad experience and forgot about it while on vacation. Today, we left Phoenix on a 10:45 am flight. By 10:40am when I was already on the plane, I had yet to receive a confirmation text with our driver’s number. I sent a text to the number that texted me a few days before and asked for the driver’s number so that we can coordinate our rendezvous point. My husband checked his phone and neither of us had a text, voicemail or email. We landed at EWR at 6:15 and turned on our phones before the plane made it to the terminal. Again, no messages, texts or emails on either phone.
I started leaving voicemails, emails and texts for the next 45 minutes. No calls, no texts no return emails on either of our phones. It was raining and we were standing outside the terminal thinking that we’re stranded so we hopped in a cab. Half way to NYC, they finally called me but only after I emailed them telling them that I’m canceling the pick up because we never received the driver’s number to coordinate the pickup. They told me they were calling my husband’s number all day. WE WERE ON PLANE so our phones were shut off but NY State Limo didn’t leave a SINGLE message, text or email so how on earth were we supposed to know they were calling us??? They told me they would charge a «no show» fee. Absolutely ridiculous. I can’t believe they’re STILL in business after all of these problems. I should have known. I’m actually a little bit frightened of them. These aren’t normal people. They are liars and I am pretty confident that they only use Skype to call people therefore the numbers keep changing that show up on your cell phones.
If they charge me a no show fee, I will be contacting the BBB immediately. I’ve dealt with the BBB before and they’re great. I encourage ALL of you that have been scammed to do the same. This company needs to be put out of business immediately and Living Social needs to stop doing business with them. It’s clearly evident that

In this company’s favor, it was actually responsive to my booking request. I got a confirmation within 30 minutes of my request for a nyc to newark airport trip. Hopefully they are sorting out their customer service issues. However, what they charge seems akin to fraud. I too fell sucker to a daily deal. My confirmation included a tax of 11% (ny state and city tax is 8.875%) on the pre-​discounted value + the tolls. I’ve never used a car service that collected this tax going from NYC to/​from the airport. Further, ny state limo charged $ 19 for the tolls, which is more than I’ve ever paid for tolls to/​from newark. Lastly the company slapped on a mandatory 20% tip. I was suspicious when the cost after the $ 70 voucher was almost $ 45, so i checked on Unilocal.Thank goodness for Unilocal!after reading these reviews and based on my own uneasiness with using this provider, i called the daily deal site and cancelled my voucher. Good riddance!

I purchased a $ 25 off coupon on Living Social to use toward transportation to the airport. The driver arrived 30 minutes late for pick-​up. He said this was due to traffic, which I believe. However, my disappointment is that the traffic was not taken into consideration prior to his arrival. Afterall, I took traffic into consideration when booking my reservation, and booked it earlier «just in case.» It is NYC and traffic is a hassle nearly every hour of the day.
I have never had this issue with other car service companies; they always arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the pick-​up time because they take traffic into consideration. Being 30 minutes late is unacceptable for a company in the car service business.
Stepping back, I’m thinking it is likely that this company does not have the fleet of cars to be able to arrive early for all their customers.
I will absolutely NOT use them again in the future, and being late to the airport was not worth the money I saved by booking them.

Purchased a voucher on Amazon Local for this company. Scheduled my pickup to go to JFK literally a month and a half in advance. At 9 PM the evening before my 5:30 AM pickup they emailed me (not called, emailed) that they would cancel my reservation if I did not put a credit card number on file. I promptly emailed back that I would call with my CC info, as I am not comfortable emailing that information. Tried to call several times, left several messages, and emailed again several times. None of which did I get any reply from.
Totally unprofessional and unreliable.
Amazon Local however was completely helpful and refunded me for this purchase.

THEY DON’T SHOW UP AND MAKE NO INTENTION ON MAKING IT UP TO YOU.
I have had several reservation confirmations, the first that was incorrect on May 13^th, which I replied and corrected the address for on the same day May 13^th, a second confirmation made for May 19^th which was also incorrect for the date, which I also corrected, which then the dispatch verified was a «Typo».
I was also notified that i would receive a call prior to pick up, which never happened.
I was provided a phone number for the driver, which reached someone who had no idea what i was talking about and apparently has no association with the company.
When i sent an email to let the dispatch know what had happened after the no show, i received a reply saying «what incident???» and then no follow up whatsoever after I replied, explaining once again, the details of this experience.
I sent three emails and left three voicemails over the past two weeks, NONE OF WHICH have responded. DO NOT GO HERE.

I bought a voucher on Pulsd. As the others state this is a SCAM. No reply from the company unless you send your credit card over email. No response on the phone, and no help from Pulsd. I’m only sorry I didn’t read these reviews first. Avoid at all costs. I’m out $ 50.00.
*** Update to this. Unlike Living Social or Amazin PULSD NY has refunded me my $ 50.00. What a great company, I wish I could post a review for them, but there is nowhere on Unilocal to rate them. So, I still give NY State Limo one star and Pulsd New York gets ***** Five Stars from me!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
In my experience, they don’t even deserve a star. I purchased a living social voucher from Manhattan to JFK. I then emailed them to make a reservation. What followed was not what I had expected ! First off, they originally told me I would be charged an additional $ 8.33. They wanted my CC info, I told them I would pay cash but they threatened to cancel my reservation if I didn’t provide them with my CC info. Fine. Then, I get an email saying that they are going to charge me an additional $ 38.57. I can’t speak to anyone in person because NO ONE picks up the phone!!! I specifically emailed them asking someone to call me back to discuss this but instead of someone calling me, I get an email saying, «sorry, those are the charges».
DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!

I wish that I could provide a negative 5 starts. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! I also wish that I had read everyone else’s reviews prior to buying my Living Social ($ 29) deal. This is the worst experience that I’ve ever had with a car company in NYC.
First, like everyone else, they tried to charge me $ 32 on top of the $ 29 deal from LGA to Manhattan. A cab ride costs $ 37. Carmel and other reputable companies charge about $ 34. So, completely a rip off in terms of the cost.
But, then — on top of everything else, they charged my credit card for the $ 32 and were to pick me up at LGA at 11:45 pm. They NEVER showed. So, I had to wait in a line to get a taxi and didn’t get home until 1 am. HORRIBLE EXPEIRENCE!
I’m now disputing the charge on my credit card, have filed a complaint with Living Social and am going to the BBB. Don’t walk — RUN away from these people. They are the worst ever!!!

DO NOT USE. Called/​emailed quickly for my CC number for additional charges on top of my voucher. They charged my card immediately. The next day my confirmed ride never arrived. All phone numbers, text numbers and email yielded no response. DO NOT USE. I do not know how people can run a business like this. I’m livid. And now had to pay for a cab to the airport for my parents who ended up missing their flight.

I recently purchased a Living Social deal ($ 35) for their car service from Manhattan to EWR. I followed all their procedures, etc and booked the car and even received an email confirmation days before my schedule pick up, and an additional invoice for an extra $ 49.xx for an extra person, auto grat of 20% (no problem, would have tipped that much anyway) and taxes. So I was thinking, this is good…$ 85 for direct door to door service, no having to hassle with the train or finding a taxi that is willing to drive to Newark during prime time… that’s not so bad!
I got a quick response via email when trying to book my reservation and confirmation within a day as well. I thought, ok, that’s a good sign…
At 3:05pm on the day I needed them, I get a call from someone stating he was the driver, asking how many people and bags I had. I told him I have 3 adults, 1 kid, 1 large suitcase and 2 carryons, the exact same information that I had originally put on the request. He told me he doesn’t think we will fit and said he would call us back. Ok??? I had requested a 4pm pickup for a 6:20 flight, that’s cutting it pretty close. I waited about 15 minutes before I called the company. It rang once, then changed to a busy signal. I tried calling multiple times over the next 30 minutes, figuring if they weren’t going to get me to the airport, I’d better get going to find my own way there!!! I called the driver back a few times as well, but no answer. Finally, at about 3:45, he answered and said that the company had taken him off the assignment. Gee. Thanks for the heads up! Still, no response from the company and phone line is still not going through.
We immediately left after that, and tried to ask 3 cabs to get us to Newark, all of which declined. We started to walk towards Penn Station to take the train. We flagged down one more cab, whom luckily agreed to take us. Cost us $ 90 after tip! $ 74.xx for the fare, tolls, etc and the rest tip. At this point, we didn’t care the price, we just needed to get to the airport!
We thought we would be saving a bit of money and the hassle of having to try to find a ride to the airport by booking with NY State Limo, but they ended up causing me a ton more stress! What an annoying way to end our vacation!

1 star is too generous. They don’t answer the phone and when they call you back DAYS later they can’t speak English. That I’m used to but they originally quoted $ 91 to JFK but jacked up the price after I gave them a Living Social voucher so I would have ended up paying $ 110 total? I asked them about it and NO RESPONSE. I asked again and they were rude. I canceled the reservation and got a refund on the voucher fortunately.
DO NOT USE!!! They are unprofessional and have no concept of customer service.

I wish I had read the Unilocal reviews before I bought the voucher on Living Social deals for a airport pickup from Newark Airport. Basically they did exactly as reported by other reviewiers on this website– they forced me to pay $ 10 in taxes, a 20% tip (this was even before the ride took place) and an $ 18 toll! So basically with the amount I paid for the vouchers ($ 35) — I ended up paying more than what a regular cab would cost me from the airport = that is $ 77!
they customer service rep. on the phone were rude and unprofessional — and I think them offering ‘deals’ on amazon local or living social deals — is simply a plot to get more business! I will never sue them again — so wouldnt even give them 1 star — as I felt cheated!

Awful! We bought a living social coupon. The driver was 30 minutes late. Then we were charged all kinds of additional fees not included with other car services or taxis. Overpriced even with a 50% off deal. And late.

I bought a living social deal. Will never buy another deal without reading Unilocal reviews first. Total scam (which I should’ve guessed when they forced me to provide my cc info upfront.) The voucher was $ 29 for a ride from midtown to LGA (which will cost that much in a taxi). Then they charged my cc $ 26 for taxes, 20% tip (who pays %20 tips for cabs?) and $ 7.50 for tolls (you can take the bridge for free). I am asking for a refund on my cc and will take a loss on the voucher. These guys stink. Wish they could get zero stars.

the biggest issue I had, was that I had said I would tip an amount that I wanted and they said nope, has to be ahead of time, so I said I would only tip 15%. then my card was charged 20%, and when I wrote to say that I’d been overcharged, they told too bad, It was a standard 20% and I could call back.
Don’t use this service, such jerks!

Worst LIVING SOCIAL deal I have ever bought. Didn’t save a dime.
The car arrived on time and was clean. The driver was nice. That having been said, I would never use this company again, whatever its name is in the future.
I purchased a $ 50 voucher (for $ 25) for NYStateLimo in early January 2013 to use in early February. I made a booking by email and it took 3 more emails, plus the intervention of LIVING SOCIAL before I even received a response appearing to confirm my booking. Sort of. No details, just «Confirmed».
Expecting a more formal confirmation (also giving the terms and conditions) and after another unanswered email, I telephoned the day before we traveled and was told that a car would be coming. I was pleasantly surprised when a car arrived on time and took us to JFK from Manhattan. I tipped the driver in cash, as I had already told NYStateLimo I would do in my booking and which NYStateLimo confirmed was OK.
When we returned to NY a week later, I was shocked to see $ 46.30 on my credit card bill (under the name Oxygen Transportation). NYStateLimo did not send me a bill, but just went ahead and debited my Visa card (I authorized, and was expecting $ 18 only).
I received a sort of itemization of the amount in an email when I complained (still haven’t received a bill though!):
Car $ 18 (correct, normally $ 68 minus $ 50 voucher).
Tax $ 8.20 (i.e. 12% of $ 68 — no reason given why they are collecting 12% tax. NYC tax is 8.875%).
Toll $ 6.50 (for car’s return journey from JFK to Manhattan, going through a tunnel. Not sure that this is appropriate — there was zero toll going out to airport and I don’t know why the driver didn’t follow the same route back. Why should I have to pay anyway?).
Obligatory Gratuity $ 13.60 (i.e. 20%, in addition to the 15% that I paid in cash — so in total I paid a 35% tip!). I must be rich.
I have asked for a refund. Still waiting.
Cost of entire transaction to me: $ 81.30. Not a bargain at all.
If I hadn’t bought a LIVING SOCIAL voucher, the charge would have been $ 106.30 for a one-​way trip from Manhattan to JFK! Not a company that I could recommend at any price, let alone at that one.

SCAM ALERT
I bought this great deal from Amazon local. $ 35 for one way fare from Newark airport. Little did I know that they would charge tax in multiple states, mandatory tips and tolls amounting more than the tolls actually cost. As the person below notes, this made the $ 35 «deal» be 71.62.
The booking process was appalling too. I made my request. 3 days later, no response. I call the number. The guy is abrupt, says he’s not at a computer. 4 emails later I finally get my confirmation (with the insane charges.)
After doing some research I found out that this company is actually Oxygen Transportation. You might want to look up their reviews prior to committing to any business with them. You’ll see that they’ve been scamming customers for quite a long time. Guess a new name doesn’t fix everything.
I reported this scam to Amazon who promptly refunded my money.
Don’t be fooled… Stay FAR away from this one.
