Oh. My. God. Got an amazing old-country wheat bread that was dense, flavorful, fresh and cheap. Then, got a chocolate-covered honey cake. Giddyapp! $ 7 all-in and I’ve never tasted anything as good. This place is the real deal. I’ll be back. If you’re in the area, stop in.

Ive been to this closet sized bakeries a few years back and was pleased. A nice selection of polish goodies considering the size of the place. I just had the Pączki thought it was amazing. Like other reviewers I would agree that the girl behind the counter came off as a bit rude, in fact she was on the phone the entire time I ordered. Oh well didn’t bother me none.

The workers are the worst, this is coming from someone who works in a bakery and has a lot of sympathy for people dealing with customers all day. They straight up lied to me about pricing when there’s a fucking sign saying otherwise and I watched her cut a half piece for the polish people in front of me. The cake is wierd and seems stale god I hate this place. I’ve given it too many chances.

Had one rye left early on a weekend and went with that, as the young staffer knew English. Forgettable, and apparently should’ve gone poppy seed or babka.

I am a big fan of anything with tvaroh in it, and this store’s «cheesecake» totally hit the spot! I can’t wait to try their other products, too!

Made the trip here with high hopes for a delicious childhood treat — poppy seed cake! I think Joe S’ review for«best poppy seed cake» got me prematurely optimistic. Unfortunately I noticed too late that he also thought H&L bagels were«best bagels in New York!!!» to determine sound credibility. The bakery, if you can call it that, is a dingy(read moderately dirty) hole in the wall the size of a walk-in closet. The girls behind the counter seemed incredulous that despite my Eastern European features I spoke no Polish nor am of Polish descent. But alas, I decided to chance it on the poppy roll although I automatically had doubts based on its appearance. Took it to a family dinner and absolutely everyone hated it. Dry crumbly dough, over-processed poppy that probably came from a can with loads of sugar, and the toughness of a stale loaf. What a waste of $ 10 — no wonder they have a huge«NOREFUND!» sign — my guess is that they would lose all their earnings.

Authentic Polish bakery with house baked breads & Polish pastries as well as some good dilly egg salad. Went here on Sunday before Sandy and the line was out the door. They sell their fresh breads in quarters which sometimes are $ 1.40 for real European rye, country whites, dark bread, baguettes. There are some prepared foods as well. This is what Williamsburg was pre-hipster a European inspired old school nabe joint. Old Poland rocks!

Their $ 3.507 grain loaf is the basis of every sandwich I make, and I make a lot of sandwiches.

Everyone is always going(do)nuts about Peter Pan Bakery just down the road from here and its not unwarranted. But this place is like it’s more secretive, classier cousin, the donuts look like works of art, a rich dark color with powdered sugar. I’m yet to try the bread, can’t wait to…

Tiny little shop with delicious bread. I buy the $ 2.90 loaf of «healthy bread» every week. Tasty, affordable and wholesome. Friendly service. The radio is always tuned to NPR, BBC or an oddly sensual spoken-word station.
