Pinebox is a bar/event space located in Bushwick. It gives off a vintage vibe, with lots of wood and artistic framed work along the walls. The bar is large and the staff friendly. Coat check is available by the door, Im unsure if there is a fee. Patrons ranged from eccentric hipsters to eclectic grunge, I noticed a ton of combat boots and men in tunics lol. I attended a Vegan Shopup event here. It was held in a small backroom, maximum occupancy around 30, comfortably. Theres a small stage in the corner and it seems like a cool spot to catch a show by local performers. Six vendor tables were placed into this room for the Vegan breakfast cookoff event, which left little to no space for people to move about. My mom and I would retrieve our samples and then exit the room to eat our vegan treats. It was tight in there and only got tighter as the time progressed so we didn’t stay long. One of the judges, Adam Sobel of The Cinnamon Snail came in with a wallaby in a baby sling! How crazy is that?! Talk about making an entrance lol In light of this event there were specials on Bloody Mary’s and mimosas, awesome! The most amazing Chai tea by Chai Mookie was sold at this event as well. It was the best Chai I’d ever had, spicy and delicious! Pinebox is also a pet friendly spot which I’m not a fan of. I saw most patrons holding their animals but I’d rather not have a dog sitting next to me at the bar as I sip on my cocktail.

Great beer list, vegan snacks, awesome bartenders, and a relaxed space-everything you want from a neighborhood bar. I’ve always received great service at Pine Box, and find their drinks and empanadas to be top quality. The bar is really spacious, so it’s fun to come here with a group of friends. They host fun events such as the Vegan Shop Up and Punk Rock Karaōke as well. Definitely check this place out if you are in Bushwick!

Kind of awesome place. Went here first for a vegan shop up, then again for a vegan shop up… you get the idea. The people there are so cool, helpful, it’s great. And the beer selection is perfect– you need to go!!!

great place to hang with friends, they have a great craft beer selection and ample seating. the crowd and bartenders are friendly. they always have great music, either live or playing on speakers. there are plenty of places to have private conversations as well as meeting new friends at the bar.

I love this place. I’ve been here a bunch of times, usually to check out a band, but lately I’ve been going just to grab drinks with a friend. Tons of space and seating. They are always playing good music and have a great menu for food and drinks. Prices are great and they have some of the best drink specials in the area(it can get crowded, so be prepared if you want those drink deals). Usually you can find a random band playing and most of the time you can check them out for free. Tons of TVs if you are trying to watch the latest game and also some cool video games if you’re into that. When it’s not crowded, it’s a super laid back place to chill that always has nice bartenders and good service. I’ve never tried the food but their menu seems to be always expanding and everything I’ve seen others eat looked great. Absolutely worth checking out if you are in the area and looking for something to do.

You get a pass, even though you’re on the wrong side of Flushing.

#I love football, but this place is too much for me on Sunday. It’s packed. And there were dudes there that looked like #Bushwick-style hipsters that seemed to want to fight these regular #Manhattan-style jock looking dudes, because they were making fun of the Buffalo Bills. It was weird. Otherwise, I think this place is cool. Just too much for me for football Sundays. The #Bloody Mary is pretty good.

Nice large bar with lots of great drink selections. Bartenders were very attentive. I was only there for a few drinks but I really liked the place. They played great music the whole time I was there and even though most of the regulars seemed to be watching the football games on their many tvs and in their back viewing area with a projection screen, they all seemed like nice down to earth people and not quite as exceedingly hipster as some of the other bars in the area. Plus they take credit card, a definite plus. I recommend checking it out, even if you can’t tell it used to be a place they used to make coffins.

This is a hidden gem in Brooklyn. It had a terrific beer selection and a vibrant vibe. We were even able to catch a free comedy show in the back room.

Very interesting place. Not sure I would say it’s my scene, but it was fun when I visited last night! Went all the way to Brooklyn to hang out with a friend from out of town and meet up with a bunch of her friends. One of the guys played in the band in the back room and overall it was pretty fun! Very chill and relaxing. Drinks are strong and cheap! A vodka tonic was around $ 7. Casual attire.

The Bloody Mary’s are to die for! Short or long(celery stalks) they’ve got it all, and fresh from their garden too. Vegetables of the pickled variety can be found on your drink, so I suppose it’s on the healthy side(if I keep telling myself that, I’ll believe it). They can tailor the heat to your desire, some like it hot and I happen to like fire. The last Bloody Mary I tried was so hot, I was like Nelly in herrrrr ready to take my clothes off lol. As far as snacks go, I would recommend trying their vegan empanadas(from V Spot). Do not skimp on the salsa please! Other noteworthy info: They host a vegan shop up event where you can sample different vegan eats(desserts galore!) and purchase cruelty free products including items like wallets and shirts ;) That being said, it’s spacious and great to bring a group. The libations are a plenty but I wouldn’t hesitate on grabbing one of their signature dranks.

Cool little spot — located conveniently close to Roberta’s and open later. There wasn’t much ambiance to speak of — I liked the décor, but the soaring ceilings and empty space didn’t provide much cozy, but it was too rustic inside for industrial.. . I don’t even know. At this point I had been drinking most of the day, so who could say for sure. The bartender was — well, I mean, he was behind the bar, and he did provide us with drinks, but he was not particularly attentive or memorable(not nice enough to be friendly, not mean enough to be surly). Overall I liked it, but it just needed more of a vibe for me to get a good read on it — it was pretty freaking empty, so I’m sure that added to the feeling.

This place was packed to the brim, but the only ANNOYING part is thir advertisement was very misleading. Right in the middle of the bar, up on the wall, is a sign posted: Happy Hour Daily. Draught beers(were either $ 4 or $ 5). When i ordered a beer, the bartender said the sign wasnt true and that it wasnt happy hour. WTF? Please write more clarifying signs then and dont have an attitude when i call you out on the sign. I wish i can curse on here, but i will be very lady like. But the bartender with the disastrous curly brown hair was something that rhymed with Funt.

this place just may be my very favorite bar in Brooklyn. I’ve only been twice so i may be jumping the gun, but when you know, you know right? i love their unique and original cocktails; my go to is the suffering bastard. they offer a small vegan menu consisting of a couple of different types of empanadas — i sampled all 3 options which were delicious and really hit the spot after a few drinks. in the back room they have comedy or karaōke depending on the day — karaōke here is a blast. dope diverse clientele as well.

Terrific place though a bit of a hike form Manhattan. The signature Bloody Marys are WORTHIT — it’s like a vodka dressed Salad complete with house-made pepperoncini. Had also the little bar food Hot Pockets, which were tiny but tenable. The owner is great and hosted a private party for us in the back room.

Came here for the ‘First Comes Love’ show in the back room of Pine Box(a reading of porn scripts solicited from craigslist by a bunch of drunk comedians). It was the 2nd anniversary of the show and it was jam packed. This bar seems to be very popular and it probably has something to do with the mckibbin lofts being just around the corner. Apparently the lines for the two bathrooms are always ridiculously long, but that doesn’t stop people from coming in for the good drinks. I enjoyed the music that was played at the start of the show and the spot itself had a laid back, cool vibe. Fun night!

This review is only about Jeremy, the barback, and the fantastic experience my group of 15 and I had while at Pine Box last weekend. The place was packed, and the bartenders were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, but Jeremy was like the calm in the storm! My group and I really enjoyed watching him assist the bartenders with whatever they needed, and at several points in the night he made our drinks himself(some HIGHLY complicated orders included). Every drink he made came out delicious and totally worth the prices here. I have no idea how the manager hasn’t made the guy a bartender yet instead of just barbacking… He kept a smile on his face and he quite honestly epitomized the term customer service. He kept the bar super clean even after we saw 2 different drunks spill some of their beverages. I will come here again and bring my friends just to see this guy work. The Dominican gentleman that checks ID’s is also great. Very friendly guy! Also, pine box plays some great music and has a ton of vegan food vendors come the second Saturday of every month(come early before they run out of food).

THE place for a Sunday football drink. Good deals as 5 buck pints. Win. I went on my first night, fresh off the plane, and the staff were more than helpful. Told me the lay of the land and the best places to check out. Any place with a beer menu gets my vote. Fresh.

Pine Box is a cool bar, but it’s also host to some great events: Vegan Shop Up, and punk rock karaōke. It’s super vegan friendly, including that you can always buy vegan empanadas for just $ 4 each. They are so good — flavors like philly cheese or jerk seitan. Their bloody marys are huge and chock full of pickles.
