A handwritten sign on the front window of this meat market beckons passersby in with a promise of cheap soup. $ 1.99 for any of 8 or so options. The truth is that only two are available each day, but it was enough to enjoy. The white barszcz was especially delicious, full of eggs and kielbasa probably fresh from the market. It was obviously homemade, and very well done, with what tasted like a hint of horseradish. The ladies commented that the white version is usually eaten around Easter, but mid-February seemed close enough for me! Less delicious but certainly worthy of the price was the barley soup. I hardly spent a second looking at the four or so other items lying on the steam table, but they certainly did not look as appetizing. I will definitely be back for more soup though!
